Located just 5 or so minutes' walk to the Bay and to magnificent views of GG Bridge and Alcatraz, our cottage offers a real San Francisco experience (with luxury!). It nestles behind one of San Francisco's lovely 'painted lady' Victorians. Fully DETACHED, rose-covered, it is surrounded by gardens and was completely renovated by us a few years ago. It is inviting, light and airy and has its own private patio. It is safe and secluded yet just a stone's throw from vibrant, chic, Union Street where San Franciscans come to dine and shop. The best and most desirable neighborhood of San Francisco!

With your own private entrance and intercom with door buzzer from the street directly to the cottage, you can communicate and buzz guests or deliveries in without going outside!

No other lister will treat you as well as we do! When you arrive, you will find the fridge stocked with juice, milk, eggs, cream, yoghurt, sodas and there will be cereal and muffins, tea and coffee, other staples and excellent toiletries, all for you. There will be a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers awaiting you, great linens, robes and many other extras.

Restaurants, cafes and boutiques, banks, beauty salons, buses and taxis one block away. One convenience store 100 yards away, another within 200 yards. Small park across the street and a library in a lovely heritage building 50 yards away.

Everyone who has stayed here has loved it and our guests constantly tell us: 'We wish we had discovered this spot years ago!'

Two lovely bedrooms (one with California King bed, the other with Queen Size Bed and doors onto patio). Perfect for 2 couples, a family with children or a couple looking for a romantic retreat.

Furnished to a high standard. Fully equipped kitchen with dining table, living room with wood burning stove (there is also central heating), tumbled- tiled bathroom with deep soaking tub, small private patio with table, chairs and sun lounger, central heating, DSL wireless, large flat screen TV with Cable, DVD player, CD player, dishwasher, use of washer/drier. Coffee maker, juicer, toaster, microwave, iron, ironing board, baking dishes, pots, pans, alarm clocks, books, CDs, DVDs.

Turn-key ready - this is not the kind of self-catering place where you immediately have to go to the store to buy paper towels, toilet tissue, dish-soap, etc. - all these basics are already waiting for you.

Surroundings : An ideal spot to see all the sights of San Francisco. Union Street (1 minutes' walk) Polk Street (3 minutes' walk), Fillmore Street (5 minutes' walk) and Chestnut Street (7 minutes' walk) are all filled with restaurants of very type from high-end to inexpensive and shops and boutiques of every type. The Marina Green and magnificent beaches/views of Crissy Field are about 8 minutes' drive away or half an hour's walk. WALK SCORE is 97!

By car or taxi Downtown/Union Square/SF Opera/Symphony are about 8 minutes, by direct bus 12- 15 minutes. Fisherman's Wharf is also about 8 minutes' by car/taxi. Buses and taxis are one minute's walk away. Very easy access (5 minutes' drive) to the Golden Gate Bridge for exploring Marin, Napa, the Redwoods and beyond.

Child-friendly amenities: This is a perfect spot for children. It is safe and secure with no-one above or below you. We are also on FLAT street (something of a rarity in San Francisco - try pushing a stroller up some of those hills after a day of sight-seeing!). We have a secure spot for your stroller, etc. You also have a full, fully-equipped kitchen so you can prepare your children's favorite foods or heat a bottle any time you wish.

Patio and garden completely secure so baby or children can be safely out in the fresh air.

Books, DVDs and toys, depending on age. Graco crib available and even babysitting a possibility with notice.

Free use of washer and drier, makes life so much easier when traveling with children.

The cottage was just as the pictures showed it. It is in the prefect location and it is very comfortable. The owner was always available if issues came up. I highly recommend it.

My husband & I took our first trip to San Francisco last Fall (2015) to visit our son and do some sightseeing. We found this gem on VRBO, read the fantastic reviews and thought it sounded perfect for us. Daryl was great to work with and the personal amenities that were provided were above & beyond our expectations! Daryl & her husband have created this gem of a cottage in a beautiful neighborhood behind their home. They thought of all the details to make us feel so welcome and at home, from the fresh flowers in every room to the Starbucks coffee (which really sold us), fresh fruit, jam, muffins, cookies, cream, juice, cereal, milk, etc.! Since we didn't rent a car, we Uber'd for our first time and that worked out quite well. We felt like Uber experts by the end of our trip! We didn't cook during our 10 night stay, but certainly could have in the beautiful, stocked kitchen with state of the art appliances. We especially loved the private patio behind our cottage, which was perfect for unwinding with a glass (or 2) of wine after a fun-filled day of touring the city and taking wonderful excursions to Sonoma, Muir Woods, Alcatraz, or North Beach Food Tour! My son's job had recently required him to move to LA, but his company allowed him to work remotely & Daryl graciously accommodated him to stay with us in the 2-bedroom cottage for part of that time for a reasonable fee. This was a dream vacation for us, and I didn't want to leave! We feel so blessed to have stumbled on this wonderful place & would definitely stay again when we return!!! My husband, son, & I really appreciated Daryl and her husband's hospitality and cannot wait to plan another trip! I would wholeheartedly recommend this luxury cottage if you are planning a trip to this beautiful city of San Francisco! Thank you, thank you Daryl & Mark for all you did!!!

Our stay at this cottage was fantastic. Booking was easy and our host, Daryl, was wonderful to deal with. Before we arrived, we asked Daryl for some restaurant recommendations. She promptly send us an email with a detailed list of some of her favorite restaurants throughout the city, as well as a list of coffee shops and convenience stores in the neighborhood. When we arrived, Daryl warmly greeted us and helped us throughout our stay. She even helped us with our transportation to the airport when we left. Daryl and her husband Mark were very friendly and it was a pleasure speaking with them and getting to know them. The cottage had fresh flowers, was beautifully decorated, and was stocked with all of the essentials for breakfast, including Starbucks coffee, cream, milk, orange juice, fresh fruit, English muffins, jam, butter, cereal, yogurt, and eggs. The cottage is very private and we felt like we were at home. The yard and surrounding gardens were picture perfect and we loved the private deck in the back of the cottage. The location was wonderful - close to great shopping and great restaurants, and fairly easy to get to other places in the city either by walking, car, or public transportation. We had a car for part of our stay, which we were allowed to park in Daryl's driveway for a small (and very reasonable) fee. And our youngest son loved playing with their cat, Sasha! We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity. We highly recommend staying here.

Ambrosial! In both my husband's opinion and mine, this was the best place we have vacation rented before…and we have rented often in San Francisco and many other places. This cottage was prettier than pictured, the linens were heavenly and so sweet ( hand embroidered pillow cases and high quality sheets), the kitchen wonderfully equipped and the gardens that surrounded it all provided so much pleasure. Everywhere we looked we saw green or flowers. We loved the private deck on the back. In all corners of this property, the care that the owners put into it is fully evident. Our hosts have the talent for providing the most caring hosting, being available for any and all questions, and yet provided us with the utmost respect for our privacy. All the attention they have put into the decor and equipping the cottage make for a delightful stay. The setting is quiet as can be and the location ( both the street that the cottage is on and the larger neighborhood in which is is located) is perfect. We had all our dinners out in restaurants, delicious, that were a block or two away. We loved the proximity to the waterfront at the marina area and also loved the little Blue Fog Market/Deli on the corner near the cottage. There was a huge bowl of fresh fruit waiting in the kitchen upon our arrival and even though we were there for 9 days, we never needed to think of buying more food for breakfasts….there were eggs in the fridge, cereal and milk, cream for coffee, many choices of tea and also coffee waiting to be enjoyed. There were chocolates in the cut glass bowl in the living room, a bag of cookies in the kitchen and freshly arranged flowers in every room….gorgeous! We felt pampered and so fortunate to have chosen this perfect spot. The night before we departed the cottage, my husband was busily looking at the rental calendar to see when we could return. It is a place like this that made Tony Bennett sing the song about leaving his heart in San Francisco.

This review is late but we are planning a return trip to San Francisco and I realized I forgot to do this sooner!! We had such an amazing time here, the location was perfect and Dale was so accommodating with any special requests (it was a surprise trip for a birthday and we had guests arriving as an additional surprise at a later time that she had to wait around for!). The basic grocery supplies were appreciated and saved us a trip to the store. We would love to stay here again for this next trip but it is unfortunately booked :( Perhaps next time!!

My husband and I have just returned from a 6 week holiday to the U.S.A. and Canada. We stayed in several apartments, cottages and B&Bs, but none compared with this fabulous cottage. The owner/manager is friendly and helpful and allowed us early check-in and late check-out. On top of that, she had provided very generous breakfast provisions, soaps, lotions, fruits, beautiful flowers, other food stuffs, dressing gowns, etc, etc. The description in the listing is absoutely accurate and the house was immaculately clean and well-maintained. We were greeted on arrival and everything we needed to know about the house and the surrounding area was explained to us. Restaurants in Union Street and nearby were recommended - we can definitely suggest Capannini, which is a fabulous Italian restaurant with Italian waiters. The prices are on the high side, but definitely worth it. I also enjoyed La Boulange for coffee and cake. The stand out activities in San Francisco were riding the cable car, walking up to Coit Tower, the crookedest street and walking across the Golden Gate Bridge. Should we ever travel to San Francisco in the future, this would be our first port of call. In fact, I would make sure that I booked well in advance, as I wouldn't want to miss out on staying at this fantastic cottage. Thanks for everything!

We highly recommend this charming two bedroom cottage in San Francisco's Mission district. Located in a safe, upscale neighborhood behind a beautiful Victorian mansion, the cottage provided the perfect setting for a wonderful weekend. Daryl and Mark are the most gracious hosts, providing milk, OJ, English Muffins, fruit, coffee, eggs, butter, etc. for our breakfast and beautiful flowers for our arrival. A fully stocked kitchen facilitated a large family dinner served on the flower bedecked back patio. Comfortable beds (king and queen). Even a crib set up for our 1 year old grandchild! The location is quiet and there is a great deli just down the street. Just a block and a half in the other direction is a convenience store offering a large selection of wine and beer. There is a nice park across the street. Daryl and Mark were kind enough to even offer free laundry facilities, although we didn't need them. The cottage is beautifully decorated with upgrades throughout. We will be back!

Finally getting around to writing this review of this wonderful cottage. I stayed there last November with my daughter and her friend for a long weekend. Really a great cottage - we wanted to just move in! A great area, right on the edge of the hills but easy to find flat neighborhoods very nearby to go for a run. Daryl, the owner, has done a great job welcoming people. We made scrambled eggs with English muffins and orange juice on our first morning - all provided by the owner. The girls ate the gift chocolates as soon as they arrived! They are still talking about that cottage in San Francisco.
