Enjoy classic New England weekends and holidays year-round on Lake Waramaug’s Gold Coast. Waramaug is a Connecticut Heritage Lake, and was pictured in the book, “1000 Places to See Before You Die”.
The cottage is located behind the Main House, in a private setting with easy access to everything the lake, and the surrounding Litchfield Hills have to offer. The house boasts two fireplaces, a deck, picnic area, stone terrace, and a private lawn area.
The living room has a cathedral ceiling, a paneled fireplace, built-in storage and bookcases, a TV, and comfortable seating. The open kitchen is convenient to both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The Master Bedroom has French doors opening to the stone terrace, as well as a fireplace, and an adjoining bathroom. The second bedroom is furnished with twin beds and has access to a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and shower. There is also an open office/work area with internet access, where one can set-up a laptop and printer. Air-conditioning units are provided and the house has wide-board pine floors throughout.
The Cottage tenants have access to the waterfront and dock, which is shared with the Main House, and is located at the base of the driveway, across the road. The tenants also have the use of a solo/tandem kayak. The Lake Waramaug community takes pride in the meticulously maintained water quality and scenic views around the lake.
The charming New Preston village is a short bike ride away with shops and restaurants specializing in locally grown produce. And, the Hopkins Winery is a great choice for a late afternoon wine tasting.
Annual events on the lake include July 4th fireworks, college and prep school crew regattas, triathlons, and numerous road and bike races.
Within a short walk are public beaches and playgrounds, canoe and kayak rentals, walking trails, a winery and a restaurant overlooking the lake.
A short 25 mile drive will lead to Stony-Brook, a lovely nine-hole public golf course, or in the winter, to Mohawk Mountain, for a choice of 25 ski trails. A little longer ride will provide skiing at Butternut or Catamount and golfing at a number of public 18-hole courses.

Seasonal activities in the surrounding area include:
-Fall leaf-peeping
-Cycling and hiking
-Antique shopping
-Kayaking
-Whitewater rafting at Falls Village
-Lake fishing and Fly-fishing on the Housatonic
-Bird-watching – including American Bald Eagles
-Golfing at Stony-Brook, Candlewood, Lakeville
-Wine tasting at Hopkins Inn and on Connecticut Wine Tour
-Skiing at Mohawk, Butternut and Catamount Mountains
-Cross-country skiing on Waramaug and nearby trails
-Dining in award-winning restaurants and Pubs

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage, and our visit in western Connecticut - The area is beautiful! The cottage is warm and inviting, and such a pleasant place to return to at the end of the day - Thank you to our host!

Quaint relaxing stress free New England Cottage near beautiful Lake Waramaug. Well maintained and clean. Kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking utensils. Al is a wonderful host that respects your privacy while providing any assistance you may require. Very easy check in and out. We plan to come back again.

Lovely, charming place with open floor plan with lake views. We enjoyed our extended stay during the winter months while our home was being renovated, and the living room fireplace made the long winter days cozy. Owners are on the property and respond quickly if we had a question or concern. Tricky narrow driveway and parking (particularly with lots of snow...) but all in all would recommend!

The cottage is quiet, spacious and well appointed with lovely views. The antique furnishings decorating the property evoked a sense of old New England. There are two working fireplaces, which we did not use, but certainly would have in colder weather. Detailed directions, instructions, and local information or provide provided by the host, all of which were very helpful. Because the driveway is narrow and blends in with the surroundings, be sure to arrive during the day. Our stay was an early November, past foliage, but the scenery was still quite beautiful.

My sister and I enjoyed a wonderful three night getaway, indulging in what has become an annual garden center/greenhouse tour in western CT! We also love stopping in at any vintage shops we can find - this trip we discovered The Hunt in New Milford, which was a great find! It was lovely to return to a cozy, well appointed cottage in the evenings - thank you hosts!!

This was the perfect get away for someone who wants peace. The house was lovely and had so many windows providing natural light. The private dock at the lake was exactly what I was looking for. The neighborhood is silent and the views are spectacular.

We spent the Christmas holiday at the cabin in CT. That means a full turkey dinner, eggs benedict, coq au vin, etc. the works! The kitchen had what I needed except the immersion blender which was easy to pack. We loved the nature sitings all around the two story cabin. It made bird watching frequent and easy. Fantastic stay! Highly recommend.

Perfect stay for short term. Only suggestion is sturdier kitchen chairs for adults. Beautiful property and views. Note no tvs in bedroom. If you like to wind down by watching tv in bed, suggest bring a portable tv device.

My husband, daughter and I had a delightful stay here. The place was very clean and well appointed. There is a view of the lake from the cottage and a very short walk to a beautiful stone patio on the water. The owners were very responsive. The location is a wonderful place from which to enjoy all that the Northwest Corner of Connecticut has to offer. We would definitely stay here again!
