THE COTTAGE SURROUNDINGS
Located on the shores of Lake Superior in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Beachcomber's Cottage is nestled in a private woodsy setting. With the property extending undeveloped on both sides, the cottage is surrounded only by the whispering of tall stately pines. An ample parking area provides space to unload your kayak or canoe from your vehicle.

Just a short walk down a cobblestone path leads you to the expansive 450 feet of private sugar-sand beach with the fresh clear waters of Lake Superior stretching out before you.

With no nearby neighbors and no highway crossing to access the beach, it’s just the spot for your summer vacation – to lounge in your beach chair, take an invigorating swim, or stroll down the beach collecting rocks and driftwood. And it’s perfect for an autumn getaway, where the fall colors are vibrant and spectacular, the air crisp and clear.

THE LOCALE
The Beachcomber’s Cottage is conveniently located along scenic highway M-28 between Marquette and Munising. Just 26 miles east is the wild and stunning PICTURED ROCKS NATIONAL LAKESHORE, located at Munising, where you can hike above the cliffs, kayak along the shoreline, or relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the ever-popular Pictured Rocks Cruise. Just an easy 30 minute drive takes you to a day of adventure at America’s first National Lakeshore.

And only 15 miles west of the cottage are all the conveniences of Marquette, with its charming and historic downtown, filled with local restaurants, breweries, and shops, lending the perfect spot to unwind and stroll along the harbor.

You can use the cottage for a starting point to enjoy the many hiking and bicycle trails in the area, or head out on day trips to explore the Upper Peninsula. Wherever your adventures take you, the Beachcomber’s Cottage is your perfect “home base.”

Location in the middle of the UP worked well for us. Loved the proximity to the beach, just a short walk. We could hear the waves from the house as the water was a bit rough during our stay. The bathroom is small but that allows you to get in and out quicker :) As others have mentioned, bring your drinking water as there is a sulphur smell. Great communication with the property manager. All in all we had a great week!

The cabin was beautiful. The beach was out of this world. Paula and Sam were very communicative and the cabin was set up perfectly to help you plan your next adventure!

The cabin was adorable. The beds were super comfortable. But the highlight was the absolutely beautiful, soft sand beach, which is hard to find. Unfortunately, we have not been to the UP in July in a few years. We did not realize that was black fly season so we only ended up staying on the beach for a maximum 20 minutes at a time because the black flies were bitting hard and swarming. I think if we had come in August or September it would have been much better. That being said, the location was amazing. Marquette is so family friendly. My son had so much fun. We were also only 30 minutes from Munising and pictured rock. We will definitely come back another year in August if we have the opportunity.

We loved this cottage and it was the perfect end of summer vacation. It was about 15 minutes from town but easy to get. We enjoyed Marquette with lots to do and the slow pace of the city. We spent most of our time on the beach, we did bring paddle boards and sand toys for the kids. We ventured out to Picturing Rocks, Black Rocks, and a few hikes.

The cabin was clean. The short path to the beach was an easy walk and the beach sand is light and fluffy. East walking beach and shallow out for a few hundred feet which was great for our kids. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and storage containers. Can’t say enough good things about the beach! There’s a pretty solid grocery store just ten minutes to the west in Harvey, and the drive in to Marquette is easy. Hopefully soon the Iron Ore Heritage Trail will be extended to Lakenenland across the street to make an off-road bicycle route all the way into Marquette available from the property.
