Banda do Sol Luxury Cottages - spectacular view, swimming pool & private terrace

Prior to us going away, Heather forwarded us directions to the apartment which was very informative and also had photos of signage to look out for which was very helpful. Upon arrival Heather was there to greet us with a warm welcome and a nice gift bag of some groceries to get us started including some wine. She was very helpful with places to visit and where to eat as she has spent several years on the Island, so she knows her onions!! The bungalow we stayed in was ideal with a terrific view, we had all we needed, even a wood burner which came in handy as the weather was changeable and in the evenings it did get a bit cool. The bungalow apartments are up a very steep hill, but the most of the hills on the Island are very steep, and there’s many, an experience to be hold in a Fiat Punto. Plenty of room in the smaller bungalow which we had for two and well equipped, even had use of the underground garage to park our car. We would definitely recommend Banda do Sol to stay, very relaxing with a nice and helpful host. The pool area is ideal to chill and relax when the sun is out, sadly it was a bit to cool to try the pool but the children staying next door had plenty of fun the the cold water. If you are looking for a perfect place to relax and chill out away from it all then this is the place. We stayed here for 10 days and it way just what we were looking for, out of the way but close enough to the be able to get out and about. The Cottage was 5*, every thing you need to self-cater, if something you needed was not there Heather would go out of her way to get it for you. We arrived quite later at 9pm and Heather had gone out of her way to do a starter shop and even prepare a chicken salad for us, there was also a welcome bag which was a really lovely touch. These little thing are what made the stay perfect and outstanding. The location offers breathtaking views over looking the sea, with its own terrace for eating and relaxing, having breakfast in the warm sun with a light breeze looking out over the view was just fantastic. Don't take my word for it come and experience it for your self, you will not be disappointed. My final point is its value for money, you are paying 3* price for 5* accommodation. We have just returned from our second three week visit to this idyillic cottage with its kind, thoughtful and attentive owners ready at hand with helpful advice. The new addition of a glazed patio extension (on both properties) enabled us to maximise the Spring sunshine and the all round superb coastal views. The property gives easy access to delightful locations such as Jardim do Mar and Rabacal but equally is a good base in a quiet area giving ready access to all areas of the island. We have already booked again for a third visit to enjoy the varied island scenery and walks.

We had the most fabulous stay at this beautiful cottage. The accommodation is absolutely lovely - comfortable, clean and of extremely good quality. The owner and her family were most welcoming and so very helpful. It is situated in a very peaceful spot - high up with spectacular views and gorgeous gardens. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and we are looking forward to a return visit next year!

We stayed in Rosemary cottage for 3 weeks in March. It was our first visit to the beautiful island if Madeira. We walked through the most superb scenery which ranged from levadas and coastal walks to mountain peaks and ridges. The waterfalls and the forests and laurisilva were superb. We have booked already to visit next year as we found our accommodation location such a good base. We really enjoyed Rosemary cottage and very much appreciated the welcome and practical help from Ken, Faye and Heather. The view from the cottage is superb, the cottage is well equipped and very comfortable.

On arrival we were greeted by Heather & her family. We were given a full tour & explanation of the property which was clean & very well appointed, they arranged a local taxi who proved invaluable taking us to local restaurants. We highly recommend Chico at prazeres Calheta. Overall the holiday was like a home from home.Do check out heathers garden, it takes re-cycling to a whole new level.

We stayed for 10 days in Rosemary Cottage. A lovely house, on the in- and outside, very comfortable and clean, on a nice and quiet location with a wonderful view. Heather, Ken and Fay made us feel very welcome. The cottage is a good place to explore the beautiful island of Madeira but also a good place to have a relaxing day on your terras or near the pool. We say: go, see and experience Rosemary Cottage for yourself!

Many thanks to Heather and her mum and dad for a wonderful stay. Heather is most friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is very well appointed, clean, tidy and comfortable. The views over the sea are spectacular and Madeira is a great place to relax. Walks along the laverdas, picnics in the forests (a bit cool at times), some shopping in Funchal (but we are not city folk), relax and recharge. Thanks again. We would recommend Banda Do Sol.

My husband and i spent six weeks in Banda Do Sol we really enjoyed our stay so much so i would recommend it to any-one visting madiera, The cottage was spotless well fitted out and had a great wood burner as it can get a bit chilly at nights Our hosts were wonderful,nothing seems to be any trouble to them ,they were always at hand when we needed anything it was nice to know they were around ,they are a lovely family Banda do sol is situated in a beautiful side of the island,it was always warmer there then any were else (which pleased us) WE didnt eat out much as we were happy just to sit outside the cottage and watch the sun go down,but when we did we enjoyed jonhies (ask heather) Our holiday was really super ,thanks heather ,ken and fey for a five star stay Glad& callum
