Situated on a beautifully landscaped half acre corner piece of property, Key Cottage, ca. 1918, provides the perfect setting for a romantic getaway, family reunion, holiday retreat, wedding accommodations, and spillover for houseguests.

It is the perfect spot to relax after a day of golfing, fishing, sailing, waterskiing, antiquing, and boutiquing. Key Cottage is centrally located and walkable to everything the charming village of Irvington has to offer.

Feel like starting your day with a morning coffee walk No worries! Head down to The Local and enjoy a croissant and coffee at their outdoor cafe!

Want to go out for dinner but don't feel like getting in the car No problem! Walk to The Tides Inn, Hope and Glory, The Office or Dredge, f/k/a Trick Dog Bar and Bistro.

Feel like eating in No sweat! In nearby White Stone, there is a gourmet shop called The River Market, affectionately known as Jimmy's, where you can pick up a couple of mouthwatering steaks, and pop them on our hardwired Weber gas grill, and dine al fresco on our screened in porch, complete with ceiling fan and all accoutrements.

Feel like seafood Merroir (Rappahannock Oyster Company), just across the Rappahannock River, is famous for its oysters and offers delightful outdoor riverside dining. It is open for lunch and dinner. But don't forget to check out our own museum, The Steamboat Era Museum in the heart of Irvington on King Carter Drive. Our little museum has received big praise for its state of the art exhibitions offering a glimpse of days gone by, when folks traveled here by steamboat, and disembarked on nearby Steamboat Road.

The property was amazing, so many different kinds of plants and flowers. Very well kept. The house inside was charming and really felt like you were in your own home with all the amenities. Especially the kitchen. The house is situated on a very quiet street with many dog owners. Met a lot of nice neighbors. Will definitely be returning.

As always, the Key Cottage is a treat. While there are many things we like about it, the porches are our favorites. Just unplug and spend some quality time enjoying a trip back to a simpler time. The cottage is always meticulously prepared and the host is warmly welcoming. When we tell folks in local establishments where we are staying we frequently get an understanding look of envy. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This was a great cottage for our get away on the NNK. Walking distance to The Tides Inn and very close to other restaurants we wanted to explore. That said, normally we do more cooking when at a VRBO and this kitchen was beautifully furnished with anything and everything you could possibly need. Lovely porches front and back, really charming.

It was fine for last minute. The couch did not look welcoming so we could only sit around the kitchen table in very uncomfortable chairs. I wouldn’t stay again. But if you like more of an eclectic feel, it’s good. It is very hard to make old places feel clean but a deep clean, decluttering and a few upgrades would really help this little cottage.

Key Cottage was charming and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were standout fabulous - modern, great water pressure, and spacious. The house is well stocked with just about anything you can imagine needing. We loved the location, on a quiet corner in the cute village of Irvington with so much to walk to and do. The only problem we had was getting into the lockbox when we arrived, but they arranged for someone to run down and help us out.

What a wonderful place to enjoy a peaceful, beautiful Mother's Day weekend with my lovely bride. We took long walks, enjoyed the local scene and just spent lots of time enjoying the porches. The cottage supports all of this perfectly. We couldn't ask for more and can't wait until our next opportunity to stay at the Key Cottage!

A delight to pull up to, inviting front porch, entire house looks freshly painted and well maintained. The inside was well appointed and comfortable. We found everything we needed and more. Very obvious the owners take great pride in providing an exceptional stay for their guests. The community of Irvington has delicious food offerings, friendly folks and good shopping options. Same was found in nearby small townsWould definitely recommend Key Cottage if you travel to Virginia’s Northern Neck

We enjoyed several peaceful days at Key Cottage. The front porch rockers provided the perfect venue for a morning cup of coffee and a sunset glass of wine. King Carter Drive is a lovely quiet street filled with quaint homes and well tended landscapes. The cottage provided the perfect home base for our exploration of Irvington and the surrounding small towns of The Northern Neck. Kinnet was an amazing host. She quickly responded to any questions or concerns. The Key Cottage guestbook provided helpful information about the home as well as detailed recommendations for local stores, restaurants and activities. We are looking forward to our next visit to The Northern Neck and The Key Cottage.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Key Cottage. It is a quirky cute house in a sweet neighborhood. We spent most of our time outdoors on the porch watching the world go by. The grounds are kept so pretty, and the butterflies and bunnies were all around. We enjoyed the town and Kilmarnock. Do yourself a favor and have a lobster roll from the little food truck in Kilmarnock. The extra pounds are worth it.
