Nestled quietly away overlooking the marsh, in the pretty coastal village of Thornham, Ashdale is a beautifully relaxed link-detached cottage providing wonderful marshland views to the sea and is a peaceful escape to retreat to for either a weekend break or longer holiday.

This pretty cottage is in one of the best spots in Thornham and offers a wonderful escape from everyday life. The owner has taken great care to furnish the cottage with luxury linens and soft furnishings to make it somewhere special to come and stay. Not only is it a gloriously comfortable and welcoming cottage, it also has the added bonus of being in easy walking distance of the harbour and beach, as well as three fabulous pub/restaurants, an award-winning deli which serves yummy breakfasts and lunches and great coffee, a fishmonger and smokehouse and probably the best fish and chip restaurant around, so you can literally park the car up and not have to take it out again if you don't want to!

Open the door to Ashdale and you're greeted with a spacious boot room, leading into a fabulously stylish and well-equipped shaker-style painted kitchen with a farmhouse table and chairs. The sitting room is cosy and comfortable with a wall-mounted fire and huge squashy sofa to relax on, making it perfect for creating holiday togetherness. With french doors to the terrace, you can let the sunshine in. The owners have thought of everything and there is even a little study desk at the foot of the stairs if you have to keep in touch with the outside world whilst you are away. Ashdale has three beautifully-appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom has a fabulous boutique feel with large headboard and super king-size bed, pretty pom-pom edged curtains and plenty of storage. Plus of course it provides some gorgeous views of the marsh and sea. The second bedroom is decadent and has twin beds, whilst the third double bedroom is equally stylish. And with two bathrooms, it makes it easy for everyone to get up and out on a morning too.

If you're lucky, you might just see the barn owl that swoops over the marsh on a morning and evening just a few feet from the cottage, but of course you can see plenty more at the RSPB nature reserves which can be found at Titchwell and Snettisham or the NWT reserve at neighbouring Holme-next-the-Sea.

Excellent accommodation. Spotlessly clean upon arrival. Best location in Thornham. Can not fault it.

We were very pleased with the property, it was airy, comfortable and clean and has plenty of parking. The garden is a good size and has garden furniture. There are nice views at the front across the marshes.

Delightful cottage, very well appointed and very clean. Only negatives would be sitting spaces in the lounge are a bit tight for 6 people and on arrival on a Dark cold January day the cottage was very cold. Kitchen very well equipped and nice space for cooking and eating together. Bedrooms comfortable. Location is fantastic. Short walk to both pubs and the Thornham Deli.

No welcome hamper (quickly rectified by your excellent team) - although we queued on a busy Saturday morning to receive Chilli oil, Chilli bites, 3 chocolate bars & sourdough loaf - rather bizarre items for a starter pack! Also there were no tea towels, dish cloths or cleaning cloths.

The property was perfect, in every way. We chose Ashdale so our family of 3 generations could come together to celebrate the new year and a new decade. The property was fantastically equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. My husband and I have stayed in Thornham before and realised the property's location was perfect. Just right for fantastic walks straight from the front door (to help blow away the cobwebs) and also within easy walking distance of the three local pubs (one of which was our chosen venue for our NYE celebrations). The rest of our party have now been introduced to the magic of the village and couldn't fault the accommodation. I even got to hear the barn owl hooting in the darkness. Wonderful in every way. Now to find an excuse to revisit in the summer.....!

Super location away from the main road, ideally located for the Coastal path and the beach at Holme. House really well equipped. Fairly clean, although some sand on the settee cushions and a couple of cobwebs in the lounge. Great that neither of the 2 bathrooms was en suite, offering flexibility for a party of 5 or 6.

Cottage is in a great location, very quiet, wonderful sunsets and great place for walkers. Kitchen is very generously equipped (except for a whisk!). The cottage is immaculately clean and comfortable. We didn’t use the garden as we preferred to watch the changing sky scape from the kitchen/diner and would concur with another guest that a bench out the front would be an extra luxury. Only negatives are the pillows are a bit hard (but you can always bring your own) and the dining chairs are very hard (cushions would be great).

Very comfortable cottage finished to a high spec with all mod cons and yes there was an owl gliding over the meadow.
