Stayed Jun 22, 2024Nice House with a great view. The relatively big and well equipped kitchen stands out. Also very quiet place, ideal to relax and do walks along the Coast. Little Supermarket nearby.

Stayed Aug 26, 2023Nice cottage, well equipped. A short flat walk along a quiet lane to the beach. Parking slightly along the lane was never a problem. Fantastic terrace - you climb steps up the cliffside then can watch the world go by, the sea in the distance, from your own private little viewing platform. Nice community feel here and not too overrun with tourists - Portreath is not as chocolate box as some Cornish villages but friendly, several places where you can eat really well (fabulous food at the Portreath Arms) and a decent village shop. Beach has a few stones but mostly sandy and great for bodyboarding.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was a great stay in a nice cottage set in an excellent location. Portreath has a lovely beach, a nice bakery and cracking pub which serves excellent food. The bed was very comfortable, as was the cottage generally, and was also very clean. Only two minor downsides - there was no hot water in the cottage until we found the boiler and a switch marked (turn on if more hot water required) but this wasn’t in the cottage guide book and we were on the verge of calling for assistance as we found the switch, but it was perfectly fine once it was switched on. Secondly the parking isn’t ideal, it’s on a first come first served basis and there are a lot of cars on the street. However there is always somewhere to park within a minute or two’s walk so never a disaster, but you need to drop lucky to get a space outside the cottage. Turning the front garden into a driveway would be a great move as it would take away this problem and be extremely handy. Overall though we were very happy with our stay and would be more than happy to stay again. We have already recommended it to family and friends and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a week in Cornwall. Thank you!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a lovely stay in The Boys Cottage, the location is brilliant and never had a trouble parking. It is a lovely cottage but could do with some updating and a bigger fridge. The patio area is very a steep climb but the views from the top are amazing.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Boys Cottage was a lovely seaside cottage located in a quiet road 5 minutes from a fantastic beach. The actual cottage was very comfortable especially the beds and the kitchen was well equipped. The garden was lovely and the views great towards the sea, but this was only reached by climbing 50 steps (knew there would be a number steps but not expecting that many), some of which were damaged and need repairing. The only negatives are that although the cottage had been cleaned prior to our stay it was still had cobwebs in various rooms and after a very long journey down the need to slip off my shoes and walk barefoot on the tiled floor left me with extremely dirty soles! This isn’t really acceptable considering cleaning should be of the highest standard especially during COVID. These little oversights didn’t spoil a super holiday in a beautiful part of the world!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This cottage was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. Downstairs the kitchen was so well stocked abs we had breakfast every morning in the ‘nook’ just off from it. The front room is just about the right size for 3 or 4 and again comfortable. The beds were so so soft and I slept the best I have done for ages. Bathroom is a really good size with both a bath and overhead shower. Water was always lovely and hot and they had even thought of a nightlight on the landing as well as a magnetic stair gate should you need it. Lovely view over Portreath and from the very top but be warned it is a little climb (although my fit 91 year old mum did manage it!) Has a brilliant Sunday lunch at The Basset Arms and also ate at Porthreath Inn - both were really good and welcoming although I would recommend booking first. All in all a beautiful trip. Only one small downside is the parking as it is first come first serve. To be fair, we always managed to park but it is a chance you take. There is a car park about 5 minutes walk away should you need it. We would of booked straight away again but we do need to know that we have parking because of my Mum

Stayed Apr 24, 2021Comfortable, well equipped, great welcome pack. Located on a quiet road. Lots of steps to climb to the patio, for a lovely view of the sea, worth the climb. Good place to enjoy takeaway pizza. Only a short walk to the beach. Sometimes had to park a distance from the cottage.
