Some light weight fishing tackle is provided for those fishing enthusiasts, as they can walk right out the door and wet a line, (Fishing opens June 11th). You may catch a Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden or even the occasional Grayling. In mid-August, the red salmon are here and spawning, they are beautiful and quite a sight to see!
If you are looking for a more adventurous day of fishing, my son Jared, is a registered fishing guide and would be happy to accommodate you.
Moose Pass is a beautiful little town, surrounded by mountains, lakes, and streams with hiking trails abounding. The opportunities to enjoy nature and all that it offers are endless. We live here because it is Alaska at its Best!
Last but not least, it's a beautiful 30 minute drive to the port town of Seward with The Kenai Fjords, Exit Glacier, the Alaska Sealife Center, Shopping and much more or Cooper Landing and its world famous Russian River Red Salmon fishing. Although Homer is a few hours away and may be a bit of a drive, with an early morning start it can be your adventure for the day. Relax, Settle in and Make this your "Home Away From Home".
I had a great stay at Julie’s cozy, well-appointed garage apartment. I am a solo traveler and this set-up was perfect. The way the apartment was situated I had complete privacy. But Julie lived steps away! Even though it rained most days I walked down to the creek as often as I could to watch the salmon spawn in the river adjacent to the property. Nearby Moose Pass is a darling village with the added bonus of being able to watch the float planes take off and land. Seward is just 30 minutes away but this property is secluded and tranquil. Comfy bed; strong, hot water in the shower, toilet flushes well, and safe with a lovely, congenial host!
This was such a great location for the three days we would spend on the Kenai Peninsula. A central spot that made it easy to get to Seward, Exit Glacier, Russian River, Cooper Landing, and even Kenai and Homer. The owner Julie did such a great job of making us feel welcome and helping out with every request we had, from well before the trip and during the trip. Even gave us pointers on some road closures that could have really delayed us. Being first time visitors to Alaska it was great to have a welcoming and helpful host!
Loved our stay. Julie and Gary were helpful and thoughtful. Would return again!
Great owners and very conveniently located, plus just beautiful!
My son and I stayed at Julie's place while we were in Seward for three days. It's a beautiful property right on the river. The apartment is very comfortable with everything we needed. She even provided fishing gear for my son to fish and was able to provide recommendations and was so communicative.
Julie eas an amazing host, very responsive and helpful. Will stay again next time we are traveling through Alaska.
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful spot outside of Seward along with our grown son and his wife. The accommodations were terrific and the Owners were delightful. I definitely recommend it!
This is a perfect little getaway. Place is clean and cozy. Cant think of a single thing wrong with our stay. Yard is a great place to relax after being out all day. Beds are comfortable and they even had a bowl of fruit and fantastic cinnamon rolls.
This was a perfect cozy spot about 20-30 minutes north of Seward! Julie was a fantastic host and made sure we had everything we needed and gave us great tips for our travels. The backyard is so nice and we got to see the friendly owl in its house. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!
We enjoyed our stay and would gladly return. Julie and her husband, Gary, were so gracious and supportive. She greets you in person to show you everything plus she has fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and fruit waiting for you on the table. We also took advantage of their son Jared’s guide service to fish for Sockeye Salmon and had a blast. We didn’t get a chance to use backyard but it would be a nice area to retreat if time had permitted. Special thanks to Julie. We would stay there again if in Moose Pass/Seward again.
This was a great place to stay with a beautiful view and yard. Very clean quiet and relaxing. The cinnamon rolls we found when we checked in were amazing!
This was a quaint little cabin about half hour from Seward. When we arrived there was a plate with rolls and another with fruit. They provided everything beyond expectations including coffee, hot chocolate, and tea. Julie walked over shortly after we arrived to see if we needed anything or had any questions. I would highly recommend staying there. It was perfect for my husband and I and our two adult children. There is a king bed, Murphy bed, and hide a bed that we utilized. We also used the washer and dryer after a rainy hike.
Beautifully manicured property in the lush, rural, Alaskan wilderness. Super-clean & cozy B&B. The hosts were exceptional and very accomodating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! ❤
Only good things to say! This guest house is spacious, bright, private, set on a creek, and spotlessly clean! The hosts are so friendly and helpful. This was our favorite of the several spots we stayed while in AK.
Easy
Julie and Gary were great hosts! They were very helpful and attentive to all our needs. The Jewel of The North was exactly that, a true Jewel! Nice remote setting in the woods on the river, peaceful and quite with great views. The suite was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. My wife and I would highly recommend staying here.
Seward is 30 mins away so long as you don't drive between 8 and 9pm when there is road blasting. Hiking trails within 10 min walk... Julie was very personable and responsive to our needs.
Had a great time here in Moose Pass! Julie and her husband were wonderful. They were there when we needed them and also gave us our privacy. Loved their place and especially the homemade pastry!
Julie is a fantastic host and the property is as described. Comfortable, clean, beautiful yard, and great location for exploring the Kenai Peninsula... We loved our family time in this little piece of paradise!
After a hot night in Trapper Creek, Jewel of the North was exactly what we needed! Plenty of room for our family of 5 and great access to Seward. Rolls and fruit welcomed us and Julie was very informative. We enjoyed horseshoes, basketball, and the relaxing atmosphere. Hated our stay came to an end. Definitely recommend!
Great location for exploring Seward and surrounding area. This accommodated our family of 5 very comfortably. The park-like private yard was great to relax in after a day of activities.
The Jewel of the North was just that, a jewel. So clean and comfortable. Julie and Gary are wonderful people and we felt so welcome. And the homemade sweet rolls that Julie prepared for us were so delicious!! ( Sam thanks you for the seconds) we would absolutely love to stay again!
Julie was an excellent host! The location was just outside of Seward, little bit of a drive, but for the location and the host is was worth it! The little river in the backyard was neat. Julie had lots of great recommendations for the area, was very reachable, and lent us a cooler for the day which was very appreciated. Sky (her dog) was a delight as well.
Stay here, you will not regret it. Peaceful getaway. We hope to return some day.
