If you wish to go further afield try an open top bus trip or take a scenic boat trip to Waterhead, Ambleside or Lakeside. For the more energetic a walk up to ’Orrest Head’ offers spectacular views over Lake Windermere. Bowness has a lively café culture, a wide selection of restaurants, bars, independent small shops and an Art Deco cinema.

    We had a great stay with friends in the Old Courtyard. Perfect location, no need for the car once we got there as it’s right in the centre of everything but not too busy that you hear the outside world inside the house. The house had everything we needed, was clean, comfortable and cosy. Would definitely stay again.

    We stayed just before peak season, and had a lovely time. Everything was as expected. And the host answered our emailed questions before our arrival.We hadn't intended to do any cooking but could not resist using the well equipped kitchen!

    We were a group of friends celebrating a big birthday & the property & location were ideal! It was really close to local restaurants & bars & there was plenty of space for us all to get together in the communal areas. The Prosecco & snacks on arrival were also very much appreciated would highly recommend 🙏😊

    Lovely clean cottage, well situated for pubs/restaurants/shops of Bowness. Quite unusual to have parking for so many cars in the middle of Bowness and also useful for large groups as has one bathroom per bedroom.
