My family and I went and enjoyed every second of it! The place was beautiful, well kept, clean, had everything needed for cooking, keeping busy and the hosts were amazing! Kathy and her husband were great, they met us at the main road and drove us down into the property and showed us around, the ins and outs of the place, made sure we had everything we needed, checked on us throughout our stay and were extremely friendly and easy to talk to! Being on the river there can be things that happen naturally, like flooding etc, they have a plan for that if it ever was to happen during your stay, they literally had the best set up, for everything. The creek/bayou was super nice, the area down by it was a great place to chill and cook out or build a fire. The fishing and kayak/canoeing was fantastic! The wildlife was also awesome, we seen turkeys, deer, the baby eagle in its nest (which was giant) and the parent of it! So cool! Bonus, the owners of the property even called to checked on us! If you see this and you question if this is the place for you, whether family time or just couple time, it’s a YES, DO IT!!! This place is worth every penny we paid!!! If we ever find our way back up that way, we would definitely stay again, no doubt!

Our family was ready for quiet mornings on the porch, outdoor adventures, and relaxing in the cabin at night. Unfortunately most of that did not happen.Mornings on the front porch were impossible due to mud wasps. We went through several cans of wasp spray, and we stopped counting dead wasps around 70. But they persisted. The screened-in porch is screened-in only in name. There are screens over the windows, but the boards below are riddled with holes and cracks. We watched wasps crawl in until my husband got a roll of duct tape and covered every opening we could find. It didn't stop them getting in completely, but it helped. It hardly mattered, though, because there were no still, quiet mornings once the week started. The grounds crew arrives around 7:30 and they share the gravel driveway with the cabin. The garage they work out of is 50 feet from the porch. Maybe 150 yards across an open field was an active construction site, because the owner is building new tree house rentals. I tried to sleep in one morning, but was woken up by the the sound of metallic banging. We tried to leave the porch, but didn't get far because of the clouds of mosquitos. I'm not about to try to blame an owner for bugs, except that someone decided to build land bridges to the island, turning the side stream into a stagnant pond. In very deep shade. We tried to walk out there the first day, but turned back. There was the scratching below the stairs that kept us up one night, but I'm out of ch

The house and property were great. Perfect for my husband, myself and our four kids. If you plan to fish and/or swim from the property, the golf cart is a must! Thankful for that option for sure. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful and even gave us a tour of the new tree house being built on the property! We will definitely be back!

Breathtaking views. Nice easy river to paddle. An eagle and nest on the property. We got access to canoe and kayak, a golf cart to get around, and an awesome outdoor stone table and grill area right next to the water. Our hosts were the best we've had! Comfortable beds, board games, fully stocked, super nice soaking tub, and tons of pillows and blankets. Grands even enjoyed the arcade in our house. The scenic portion is beyond measure. Time slowed down, we watched deer, foxes, eagles, and all kinds of natural beauties to behold. I got teary eyed leaving. It felt so comfortable, so restful, and so special. We hardly saw anyone out there except the hosts providing us with a special dessert to enjoy. It felt like our own piece of heaven on earth.

The property was beautiful and quiet! We saw turkeys, an eagle's nest and beavers! The golf cart was great for getting the older folks down to the water. Great place to spend the weekend for my father's 82nd birthday!

Fantastic property to get away, enjoy nature and forget the world! However, close enough to enjoy the wonderful entertainment of Mountainview and go to store or restaurant if you choose.

We loved our stay. Perfect for a family stay. We saw the eagles nest and and eagle while there. We saw the deer and hummingbirds. The property golf cart was very useful to explore the huge 470 acres. We loved the White River and Rocky Bayou and the cayak, canoe and flatboat. It's a long drive on the gravel/dirt road to get there but well worth it.

Mostly it was great. There was miscommunication around the pet fee, which isn’t accurately disclosed in the listing and caused some issues. But the hosts were kind and Doc showed us around the property.

This is a wonderful property to hang out on especially if you love to do front porch sitting, which my 84 year old mom loved. Plenty of deer and turkeys to watch morning and evening, hummingbirds and butterflies. We had a visit from an armadillo a couple of evenings and my son, the biologist, while out hunting for snakes, frogs and turtles, sighted a bear in the woods just off the trail he was on. Luckliy both turned around and headed in the other direction. Caretakers were great and very available when needed. We unfortunately needed more private bedrooms but next time we will solve by also renting one of the other places available at the same property. We were a little disappointed about the swimming, it was way too swift and cold for the kids on the inlet river side, on the rocky bayou creek side we saw a few water moccasins (not uncommon), mostly because it had flooded a couple of months before and the creek was still up some but this was easily solved by heading to a few other creeks we were very familar with. Also found out when we were leaving from a cousin there might have been a great place further up the creek to swim. This was a very neat property lots of wildlife had a great time just porch sitting. Trails are on the property also for hiking but we didnt seem to have enough time to do that something new for next time!

The home is well stocked for guests with comfortable beds and plenty of space to gather. The property is so beautiful and has many bonus amenities. Being able to swim and fish in the river was perfect for hot days. I am looking forward to our next visit. Would definitely recommend this property!

The second time we stayed at this location. It was wonderful to see the stars, be so close to the river for fishing, paddling, tubing and hiking. It was very relaxing. The caretakers were very accessible and responsive. They leave a golf cart to get around should you choose to use it. The city center is about 20 minutes away with a great folk art center and nightly folk music at the square. The arcade game was an extra touch. Kitchen has the supplies and appliances you need, the washer/dryer work great and there are plenty of linens. We had a great family vacation and hope to come again.
