Meadowcroft House is a former gentleman’s residence built in 1908. Over the last century it has been used as a school and hotel before being converted into a stunning complex of apartments. Meadowcroft No 4 is a first floor apartment with three bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. The spacious living/dining room enjoys winter views of the lake and a short walk brings you to its shores where you can watch the boats sailing by. There are two acres of grounds including mature trees, manicured lawns, shrubberies and more natural areas to enjoy and an all-weather tennis court is available for guests use. For the less energetic, the gardens are large enough for a leisurely stroll and are full of birds, rabbits and the occasional deer. Meadowcroft is a five minute short drive to Bowness with it’s shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, a local supermarket, and the Beatrix Potter Centre. Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake. The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead, or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside. There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole ‘pitch and putt’ and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Meadowcroft No 4 can be booked together with Meadowcroft No 7 (CC128228) to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Everything was perfect in the apartment- we had everything required and it was well appointed. The only constructive feedback we would give is that the communal hall areas could do with a spruce up - it was a little out of character when compared to the rest of the building and smelt musty. Apart from the actual living area was wonderful.

The flat was large, cosy, well decorated with great views being on first floor! We had a dripping toilet & weird smell in another toilet but left the cleaners a note! In places the flat was a little dusty but overall it was great! The parking spaces weren't very clearly labelled so if arriving when it's dark it could cause confusion & there weren't many visitors parking spaces, so in height of season could be a problem! We would definitely recommend & hopefully be back again

Some appliances did not work. Surfaces needed dusting. Some Windows were not cleaned which impeded the view. However Well stocked with books games and DVDs. It’s a 15 walk to town which should be mentioned. If bedding is required to be stripped then this should be reflected in advertising.
