With outstanding views over the bay of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Bertys Beach View is set in the middle of the promenade on the first and second floor of this iconic building within the owner’s cafe, in the heart and soul of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. First established in the early 1900s with a fascinating history and founded by Ben and Rosie, The Bertorelli family have been in residence here for generations, and to this day, this splendid building and ice cream parlour is run by Frank and Mayling Bertorelli who look forward to welcoming you to share time in this art deco style building. Visitors will receive a complementary voucher for coffee and a home made 99 Italian ice cream to enjoy whilst soaking up the ambience within the original café.

Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, once a thriving fishing village, still has a few fishing cobles and can be seen from the large windows going out to sea. If you are lucky enough, you may spot the dolphins or some seals and will often see the local ’dolphin watch’ team around.

If you are not out and about exploring, then enjoy your lunch or dinner sat in the large bay window of your apartment whilst relaxing and watching the sailing boats or admiring ’The Couple’ off shore statue, the only one on the north east coast and designed by Sean Henry. Later in the evening you can relax with the large Smart TV and admire the hand-painted cherub art featured on one wall.

When you step outside, you are on the promenade which stretches for a mile from end to end, with the Maritime Centre at one end which houses a small museum and gift shop. The village has a butcher, green grocer, bakery, takeaways, Italian and Indian restaurant. The golf course is only 500 yards away and the local bus is nearby where you can literally hop on and get off in Newcastle or Morpeth.

The historic town of Morpeth is only 8 miles and has a good selection of shops, some housed in the Edwardian Sanderson Arcade, and plenty of pubs and restaurants. Alnwick Castle is an easy drive as is the Northumbrian Heritage coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Bertys Beach View is near a great road network making travelling around this diverse county, voted the best place to holiday in the 2018 British Tourism Awards, and featured by the Sunday Times in 2023, easy in all directions. All the popular attractions are easily reached from here and with the promenade and beach literally on the doorstep, Bertys Beach View truly does offer the best of everything. Beach 50 yards. Shop and pub 50 yards, restaurant 100 yards.

Excellent location with lovely views. Very attentive owner. Comfortable and generally very clean although the shower fittings need replacing due to mould. Well equipped for self catering and Coop round the corner for supplies. Would definitely return.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Bertie’s. We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Frank and his staff were all very friendly and helpful and the view from the flat was amazing. Don’t forget to have some fish and chips from his chippy or a snack from the caffe.

A lovely apartment in a pleasant seaside town. The view from the lounge out to sea and down the promenade is great, you could just sit there and watch the world go by. The owners Frank and Mayling are the most friendly people you could hope to meet. The ice cream from their cafe below takes you back to childhood. The apartment itself is well presented and comfortable.

Lovely weekend break with the friendliest hospitality we’ve ever had at a holiday rental. The cottage was clean and comfortable and Frank was the perfect host - our kids were delighted with the hot chocolate and ice creams in the cafe. We’d love to come back and would happily recommend to any of our friends visiting Northumberland. Alistair

Not satisfied at all. Really disappointed with accommodation and locality. We have stayed at other houses at Beach Terrace and they have been excellent. There is NO onsite parking as described in the listing ... it is a Walk way/alley way outside of the business owners business gates ( which cannot be blocked) The accommodation is basic but charges premium rates.... sorry it’s a 2 star rating at 5 star prices.... cleanliness of the home was not up to basic standard ... dirty used cutlery placed in cutlery drawers ???!!! Dining table & chairs had stains and marks ( dirty /old drink spills) on them.... we had to clean all dishware & utensils before use & table tops. The house held a smell of dampness and had I’ll fitting carpets ( albeit new) but were /are a trip hazard especially when you have kids. The lounge area is tiny & very dark. Chairs & sofa tiny and uncomfortable. WiFi temperamental and constant passcodes & passwords required constantly ... poor!!!! The kitchen is tiny but too cluttered .The outside balcony is poor.... looking onto a business back shop /car space & wheelie bins ??? Promoted as a “courtyard” sorry very misleading adverts. Won’t be booking this accommodation again. All internal stairs are very steep and my children & an adult fell down then on more than one occasion!!! Loose hand rail between first floor & second!!! Beach Terrace has to be our first choice every time.... Berty’s Beach view just didn’t match up for premium prices expected.

Frank and his wife made us most welcome from the start! So nice to stay in a lovely place that they have put their hearts and souls into. He has a beautiful art deco café under the flat that they run. Really worth a visit.
