We really wanted to stay at the cottage There is a glitch in the booking process with Vrbo.. The money was not taken from my account and the link site contacted us saying we had not paid. There was no way to do so on the Verb site and we could not get through to the link site despite spending 2 hours on the phone. We had to cancel. EXACTLY the same thing happened when we tried to rebook. On the Monday we finally got trough to the link site but the whole thing wasted hours of time and caused lots of frustration.VERY UNSATISFACTORT!!!!

For those - like us - who like quiet self-catering cottages in beautiful scenery, this was perfect. The cottage was comfortable for our 2+1 set-up. The downstairs bathroom might not be suitable for everyone. Day trips to Morpeth, Alnwick, Cragside, Hadrian’s Wall, and the coast are feasible. Shopping needs planning, though there is a village shop in Otterburn (albeit its hours were not totally reliable). Make sure you support the pub - literally next door!

Had a wonderful stay at Blue House cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. Has everything you need, and a real attention to detail. Shame the garden area at the back is so small, but then you do have a fantastic green in front of the cottage. Pub does excellent food and brews it's own beer. Lots of lovely walks in the area, and plenty to see. Will definitely be returning. Thanks again.

A really good cottage, easy to find and was central for all the visits we wanted to make both to Hadrian's wall and across to the coast. very clean and comfortable plus we had the added bonus of the pub being open and also no neighbours in the house on the other side. Central heating easily took the early Sept chill away and we had no need to use the log burning stoves. Decent kitchen, oven appeared to be nearly new, and some useful food items. A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting overlooking the village green and surrounded by hills. Next to a great pub serving very nice food and very local beers produced in their own brewery, I even got a brief tour of the brewery from the landlord. Can sit outside the cottage on the green and have a drink in lovely rural and very peaceful surroundings with the friendly locals. No village shop but ordered online from Tesco very easily. Great location very central for all sites Northumberland has to offer. We visited kielder, Lindisfarne and Hadrians wall easily. The village Of Elsdon is surrounded by lovely scenery and the drive to Alnwick via Rothbury is particularly nice. Cottage had all mod cons required. Beds were very comfy. We travelled with 6 year old and 1 year old and had no worries with them in the cottage. Toilet is downstairs but not a problem for us. There is a small garden patio area at the back enough for two to sit out on. A very nice break all round and we will be back for sure. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely cosy property. Great selection of groceries in the welcome pack. Only downside was that the bathroom and toilet were on the ground floor which was would have been problematic for my elderly father in the night, fortunately we had noticed this on one of the previous reviews and taken a bucket. Loose rugs in the bedrooms and kitchen also proved a bit of a trip hazard

We had a perfect 3 night stay while up north for a family wedding in Otterburn. The house is perfect. Fitted my husband and our 2 daughters aged 3 and 8 well. Lovely area filled with peace and quiet the village. But a quaint pub next door if socialising with lovely and helpful locals is your thing! Everything about the house was what we wanted from a rural cottage stay. The fires, the views, the beds are so comfortable! The beams in the ceilings and stone floors had me sticking a for sale sign up home and wanting to move in! Role on spring when we return. Hopefully we get snow next time!
