Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Orangery was lovely for two people and our little dog, enclosed garden but a few gaps in the garden where our dog did get out twice as she wanted to get onto the grass outside on the drive way, we blocked the gaps with two body boards and a chair. Outside space ok but only paving slabs hence why our dog wanted out. Would have been nice if the courtyard area and the outside chairs and table had been swept before we arrive, my husband spent ten minutes on the first morning cleaning chairs off so we could sit out. The hot tub was fantastic outstandingly clean, growns and slippers were provided which was a great touch. The inside was clean but a few cobwebs here and there, but over all ok. A few more glasses would have been good, no tall tumblers if you wanted a long drink but over all most things provided. There are two steps from kitchen into living area these are mentioned on details but they are very deep and steep our little dog did get stuck half way up them a couple of times and I did struggle taking food up to the dining table from kitchen a few times. But over all a cosy place to stay, the owners were right next door and pleasant and helpful if we needed it, so over all a good little place to stay. Lovely walks to Bideford village and up the hill from property walk though a wooded area up to headland though the houses. Good base to explore. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Orangery was a great holiday cottage with very helpful and friendly owners. It was an easy walk into Bideford town centre but felt peaceful and away from the main road. It was very spacious with a fantastic living and dining area which was lovely to spend the evening realxing in. The hot tub was very welcome and overall we had a fantastic holiday in a beautiful part of Devon.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This is a lovely holiday cottage, and the owners David and Adrienne, are great hosts who live on site, and are very careful to repsect your privacy. The cottage is clean, and has all of the amenties you need. There are THREE large steps up the living room, not sure why the description says two, sounds pedantic, but when you have a one year old, this is an important detail. Given the hard flooring throughout and the aforementioned steep steps, I would actually say it is unsuitable for very young children. Also location wise, it's a good 15 minute walk to the centre of Bideford, not a few minutes as described. The area is surrounded by beautiful towns and villages, (we visited Bude, Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Clovelly, Appledore, Westward Ho! and The Big Sheep), however Bideofrd itself is fairly run down, appreciate not the owners fault, but worth pointing out, as it's the nearest town to the property and the description leads you to believe you are minutes walk away from pubs and restaurants you might want to visit, but don't feel this is the case (personal preference I realise!). You need a car and need to drive to see the best of the area.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Beautiful holiday, hot tub was amazing. Overall place was lovely and so were the owners, however it wasn’t very private and a bit of a thoroughfare with all the cars coming and going....

Hot tub is totally private and a real bonus. This cottage is excellent value, would recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a fantastic break here and absolutely loved the place. The weather was mixed but we enjoyed the hot tub every day whatever the weather! The bed was really comfy and the room nice and dark. Kitchen and bathroom had everything you needed and we loved the orangery living and dining area. We popped down first thing to turn the heating on and were never cold. We would love to return and can not recommend this place highly enough!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The owners of The Orangery have thought of everything you could possibly need (and more) for a wonderful stay. From the welcome basket to the robes & slippers provided also the whole accommodation is spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We've really enjoyed our week here in this cottage. The cottage is quaint, and just perfect for a family of four (we have two boys, 9 and 11). We brought our dog, who's only little. We brought our own stair gate (there is one at the bottom of the stairs), but that was mostly to make sure at night that he didn't jump on the furniture. The Orangery itself is really lovely, and the sitting area is just great for a family to play a board game, should it be raining. The best feature is the location. It's within walking distance of Morrison's (but there's a steep hill so you may still want to drive), and easily within reach of Westward Ho! and other beaches in the area. Can't recommend this cottage enough. We met David, and he was super lovely to us for the entire stay, and had lots of hints and ideas for things for us to do. It was nice to be somewhere in Devon where a mobile phones worked too (we're on Vodafone, and got 4G!). It is possible to work from this cottage. Our tips: Bring a slow cooker. It's great when you've been out all day, and your dinner is waiting for you. Bring a travel stair gate - because it helps to keep your dog in the corridor to the bathroom / airing cupboard. Bring an Amazon Fire Stick - because the internet is fast enough to support streaming.
