Stayed Aug 12, 2017We stayed for a week in The Crow and the Fox, taking three teenage children on holiday is always a challenge! but not here, with swimming, tennis, fishing and a host of other activities in the garden there was something for all of us. We enjoyed barbecues and just sitting outside enjoying a glass of wine (or two) while the sun went down. Martial, the owner, lives next door and runs a B&B. He was an amazing host, taking me to the bakers in the next Town, booking restaurants for us, nothing was too much trouble! I understand very little French, Martial was a huge help in translating and advising us on our days out. Cant wait to go back.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969With family in the Loire, we just wanted somewhere simple to stay. This place is beautiful. The complex is nice and secure behind key coded gates, the river runs through the land and the whole place is so green! It is made up of a bed and breakfast which Martial lives in and runs, a 2 bedroom Gite and a 4 bedroom gite. We stayed in the 4 bed, Le Corbeau et Le Renard. The house was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Our group was made up of 2 couples and one single. We were very comfortable in the house with lots of space upstairs and down. Two bathrooms with showers, kitchen diner and a lounge. The outside patio area was lovely and we spent every evening sitting out in the warm air with a bottle of wine (or two). When we asked him to let us know if we got too loud, Martials attitude was that this was our house for the time we were staying, and we should treat it like home. Every morning Martial went for fresh bread from the local bakeries for his guests in the B & B and was more than happy for one of us to accompany him there to get our own and share his local knowledge. La Chartre is about 25 minutes away for those who wish to explore and has shops and restaurants. Rural France does not really cater for those who wish to eat out for every meal or shop but if your French is better than ours I’m sure you would be fine! If you were staying in the Bed & Breakfast I’m sure Martial would be happy to sort out reservations If needed. There are plenty of supermarkets nearby for your shopping The swimming pool is well sized for about 3 people at once, the tennis court is full sized and there is a ping pong table in a covered area nearby. Martial will even let you borrow his boat if you wish to explore the Loire! The kitchen was well equipped (The glasses are in the cupboard in the lounge!) and we had some cleaning equipment, and an iron. The coffee filter was a fabulous benefit and we all enjoyed fresh filter coffee every day. Martial was a fantastic host. He lives with his cat (Yoda) and his dog (Dolly) in the bed and breakfast. He took us round the bed and breakfast on our penultimate day as he had no other guests staying and every room is spectacularly decorated, as is the smaller gite. Beautiful and tasteful with every room following the Aesop’s Fable theme. We could happily have spent a month here and not been bored. Would recommend to anyone
