10 MINUTES FROM SIGHT AND SOUND, RESTORED 1700's HOME SURROUNDED BY FARMLAND

This was at least our fourth visit to this same property, which in itself should speak volumes. It is an AMAZING place to escape from reality. Clean and well kept, but so much charm in the house itself. Great firepit and land to walk on. Close to so many attractions that suit everyone's needs. We will be back and you should go, too! (also, the owners are the sweetest, leaving fresh cookies and breakfast sausage for each visit!)

The vacation home was cozy, warm, and peaceful. I recommend this rental to all people and families.

The location of this place is perfect, we loved and took advantage of the outside seating for as much of the time as we could while we were there. Everything was clean and comfortable, including the beds and the cookies left for us to enjoy were tasty.

Our 4th year visiting this home & we loved it just as much as every other year. It feels like home away from home. It is the best stocked home we have ever stayed in. Everything that may be needed is there. It's close to everything, in a perfect location to sit outside and watch the farmers and the horse & buggies go by and always clean. Just a lovely home. The property includes a beautiful, comfortable, historical home deep in the farms of Lancaster County. Outside, there is sparse automobile traffic on the country roads, but we did very much enjoy the horse and buggy traffic. The fire pit and outdoor seating area was fantastic! We liked the fact that we were only 10 or 15 minutes from multiple points of interest. We will definitely return.

This home exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect - close to towns, yet relaxing quiet country vibes. Everything was so clean and it was nice they provided trash bags, paper towels, linens, etc. We will definitely book this place again, no questions asked!

Where do I begin. If you’re looking for something close to everything Lancaster has to offer but also want a relaxing place than this is it. In the heart of Amish country, horse and buggies, farms all over the place. The hosts John and Deb were so easy to talk to. The house was exactly what we were looking for. Sitting out back was so relaxing. The only thing we regret is we forgot to sign the guest book but we will definitely be back to sign it. Oh and the cookies??? Um delicious. We will definitely be back again hopefully multiple times. Great house and great hosts.

This restored 1700s home set in a rural Amish community exceeded our expectation!!! Sitting by the lovely outdoor fireplace watching field work with horses, taking our walks on the country road by the house that took us past an Amish schoohouse and beautiful working Amish homes, added relaxation and peace to our time away.We loved how they kept the history of this home in the renovations. It was very welcoming and clean.Highly recommend!!

Very clean; warm and cozy accommodations.

Absolutely beautiful cottage surrounded by farmland. Immaculately clean, comfortable and peaceful. Fully stocked kitchen, beautiful patio area with fire pit. Quiet and relaxing but close to attractions. We visited 6 covered bridges, cooked breakfasts with farm fresh eggs and bacon. Homemade cookies upon arrival and everything we needed to be comfortable and feel at home. We will definitely be returning.

Yes the kitchen was fully stocked. We cooked two meals at home. Had breakfast every morning. The heat worked well

Beautiful restored home. Very clean and very comfy beds. Great place to rest while exploring Lancaster County. So close to Strasburg. Wish we had more time to sit outside and enjoy the firepit but weather prevented that. So much history! Loved the before and after pictures. Loved the fresh baked cookies upon our arrival. Very easy to check in. Will be back! One of our favorites.

We visit this property yearly and for good reason! Clean and cozy, the best spot to unwind. Lovely firepit with plentiful wood and all needed amenities inside the cottage. Hosts are lovely - highly recommend!!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this historical home. It provided everything we needed for a comfortable 5 day stay. Located in the countryside surrounded by cornfields it was quiet and peaceful but just a short ride away from quaint towns, shopping and amenities. Daily we watched Amish buggies clipclop by as we experienced the beauty of this part of the country. The home was spotless, the beds comfortable and we had everything we needed.

Outstanding in every way!!! This trip crossed off my wife's bucket list item. What a dream lication inserted straight into the middle of the Amish culture we love and admire so much. Tranquility is the best aspect of this charming property. Every day we saw Amish children scootering to school and horse drawn wagons and buggies as we drank coffee on the back porch or by the firepit. Sunrises and sunsets were amazingly beautiful. We viewed hot air balloons taking off from Lancaster every day as well No reason to leave the home but so much to do in the area you will want to venture out. Quiet, sturdy home for its age. Peaceful. No noises. Perfect!!! John and Deb are the GOATs of VRBO hosts. A must stay!!! We will be back.

The cottage was beautiful and welcoming from the first step inside! Delicious homemade cookies to greet us. Cozy bedrooms, kitchen stocked with essentials, great fire pit with seating for all 5 of us comfortably and the view and souroundings that will take your breath away! Close to attractions but just far enough away from the noise! Beautiful home that has been taken care and hosts were quick with responses. Would definitely stay again in the near future!

Well restored and maintained. The original wood was outstanding. Cookies were a nice touch. It was an idyllic spot within easy drive of every place we wanted to go. Ran into a few cobwebs in the bathroom and had an issue with yellow jackets, but that is just nature! Everything we needed was there. Too much light in the middle bedroom, especiallt the light under the top step.

This is a sweet cottage away from the hustle and bustle. It is situated on a corner and affords a beautiful view of farmland and sunrises/sunsets. The bedrooms and bathroom are all located upstairs. We loved the beams and antique furniture. There’s a griddle in the kitchen that makes cooking breakfast easy. We appreciated the air conditioning.

The perfect space in the perfect location. All the modern conveniences of home, combined with old world charm. The pictures don't do it justice. We are looking for a reason to travel back here to rent this again.

This was our 3rd stay in this lovely home. The location could not be nicer. It is so quiet & peaceful. We enjoyed watching the Amish farmer next door plant tobacco and the ongoing horse & buggy traffic. The house is one of the best stocked houses we have ever stayed in. We love staying in this well-appointed home. Perfect place to relax with family and friends. Very close to Strasburg and all of the tourists sites.

We loved our stay here. The home is on a quiet road away from the bustle of the tourist areas, yet just a short drive to all the major attractions. It is surrounded by farmland and the views are so peaceful. We loved seeing the sunrises and sunsets. The home has been lovingly restored, keeping the historic feel alive with exposed brick and beams and furnishings. We loved the refinished wide plank floors and even the slight floor slant in the master bedroom. The kitchen and bathroom are well stocked with supplies. We didn’t get a chance to sit around the fire pit as it was raining one day and the other days were a little windy and chilly, but John and Deb supply all you need to start a fire in the pit. We were welcomed with homemade cookies which was such a nice touch (they were delicious!). The home was very clean, very comfortable, and well cared for. If you want to experience all Lancaster has to offer, but also want to relax in a peaceful setting, this home checks that box. We will be back!

Nice cabin and location

This was the perfect home for a relaxing girls weekend with my friends. Beautiful, clean and awesome fire pit!

This is the 3rd time my husband and I have stayed at this farmhouse. It's in the perfect spot if you would like to immerse yourself in an Amish area. The farmhouse is not in the tourist area but very close by. We travel from CT to the south occasionally and this is the perfect place for us to take a break from a long ride and do a little shopping!

We were three tired moms looking for some quiet and a place to catch up with each other and this home was so spotlessly clean, charming, and peaceful that we were able to recharge and head back to our homes ready to face our sweet families. So thankful for the love that was put into restoring this amazing treasure of a spot! So close to so many good places too but off the beaten path. Can’t wait to return!

The house has been beautifully restored. The owners have been able to keep so much charm, while adding modern touches. The house was also VERY clean. The property is well maintained and the area was peaceful and quiet. We had no issues during our stay and will definitely be back the next time we come to the area.

Our visit to Lancaster County, PA was better than we anticipated because of the great house that we stayed in. We visit the area 1-2X each year to see Biblical Musicals at Sight & Sound, other local attractions and to immerse ourselves in the Amish culture as much as possible for us English. By far, this visit was our best due to this terrific, completely restored older house that had everything we needed with very comfortable furnishings and very cool period decorations. From the first night of rocking on the glider and watching horse-drawn buggies go by, to driving past the one-room Amish schoolhouse just up the road. My husband and I couldn’t i’ve been happier with this day at this beautiful cottage. It was the perfect getaway for us with lovely simplicity in our busy lives. Everything was seamless as far as the process during our stay, the property was beautifully located, the cottage just wonderful inside and out, and I am grateful for having had the time and opportunity to stay here.

A cozy spot near my parents’ retirement home so we had our own space. Cold and rainy outside but warm and dry inside!

Our stay was absolutely lovely! The only downfall was the water from the sinks; the hot water took some time to warm up but when it did it was scalding hot. Other than that the home is beautifully renovated, pretty spacious and comfortable and even super quiet. It felt home-y without it being our home, I hope to come back here in the future.

For anyone looking for an authentic 1700 cottage stay in Amish country - you have found your location! Our stay was perfection from the moment we booked. Our host was accommodating above compare. He gave us local recommendations, left us homemade cookies to enjoy and even let us check in a bit early before our tickets for Sight and Sound theatre which was close by. We took another couple with us and both couples had appropriate privacy for sleeping, even with the authentic plank floors upstairs. The property is not ‘fancy’ but, instead, cozy and authentic. For those coming from ‘city’ living, just keep in mind that you are truly in the country with regular country sounds and smells. We can’t wait to plan our return trip for next year.

This was our third time staying here. The house has everything you need. It is located central to all that we do. The location in the quiet countryside, (without all the noisy neighbors that I have at home) is what keeps me coming back. A real chance to tune out and relax.

We spent a weekend with our two young kids. There was plenty of space for the four of us and everyone loved the place. The outdoor area was nice for hanging and playing after we got back each day. Although we didn't cook much, the kitchen was nice and well-equipped. We spent most days out and about in nearby Strasburg and Lancaster, and it was great having a place so nearby everything. We will definitely come back!

We had a fabulous time touring all around the country side . Amish buggy rides and working farm tours. Daniel at sight and sound show was amazing. Bird in hand walk around. We will return to this beautiful cottage .
