Wrightsville Dunes D-3B - Oceanfront condo with community pool, tennis, beach

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful. The property could really use updating - furniture, rugs still pretty wrecked. New toilets needed! But I chose it for the deck, and that was amazing.

This is a condo complex and great that there is an elevator. My issues are that the owner needs to do some updates. The kitchen is really nice but the items in it are not. The owner needs to throw out all pots and pans. Nobody wants to cook on teflon that is very scratched. I went to Target and bought a new frying pan, pot and sheet pan. Just buy stainless steel pots and pans and they will last forever. I also had to buy a cheese grater and carrot peeler. The second thing and it is big.. please replace the master mattress! It is so worn. It also looks like it has years of pee and stains on it. I washed the mattress pad and put on 2 sets of sheets. The couches in the living room ate 1990's worn out leather. They are so uncomfortable and worn. The complex itself is nice and the pool was very clean.

The unit itself needed some attention/updating (broken appliances, dated furnishings, etc.), but the staff were quick to respond to as best as they could. We will return to Wrightsville Dunes again!

Pros: -Views are phenomenal -Top floor unit with vaulted ceiling and extra windows, lots of natural light, don’t have to worry about people above you -Views to sound from bedrooms in front of building are nice -Kitchen is nicely redone -Couches and chair in main living space are in nice condition and comfortable -Dishwasher was very quiet -Nice kitchen table and functional bar stools provide extra seating Cons: -Carpet in living room and main hallway was FILTHY. Like didn’t want to let my kids play on the floor it was so filthy. Lots of stains. The carpet in the master bedroom has clearly been replaced recently and is much nicer, not sure why they didn’t replace all the carpeting or at least have it professionally cleaned -No extra toilet paper, paper towels or dishwashing detergent provided (despite saying dishes need to be washed and put away before you leave -Small table on deck outside was literally falling apart every time we touched it -The shower curtain liner in the master bath had multiple holes and was literally tied in knots around the hooks with gaping holes at the top. --Skylight in the bedroom needs a shade or you’ll be up with the sun at 6am in the summer -Shower head in master bath broken and leaking/dripping -Towel rack in master bath broken and pulling out of the wall on one side Overall we enjoyed our stay but this unit definitely needs some TLC. Would look at Wrightsville Dunes again but not this particular unit unless some updates are made.

Water smelled like sulfer, carafe in coffee pot broken, floor dirty, furniture broken, chair in living room had holes in the arm, toilet kept getting clogged, linens were cheep and the bunk lines looked dirty. kitchen chair broke and had been glued prior, I was promised close to the pool, I have a special needs daughter and the pool next to our condo was out of order, making our trip to the beach and water miserable. We actually came home early.

However, the condo, improved from our previous rental of it, still has some (previously mentioned) issues: ripped furniture, front outer door broken bottom, almost no coffee mugs, poor dishwasher, and broken living room blinds. Broken blinds, again mentioned this year, were quickly fixed upon my request to the rental agency. Other concerns could not be addressed. The rent is expensive; hopefully in the coming months, the owners will work to ensure that their property becomes a 5-star property.

Reviewer Comments: We chose this condo over others because we noticed the upgrades in the kitchen and believed this unit would be in excellent condition. Although clean overall, lots of oversight like baseboards in kitchen hadn't appeared to be cleaned in a very long time. there was food on the floor in the pantry so there doing a quick run thru. Biggest disappointment was all the pots/pans should have been replaced years ago. there was only 1 usable small pan we felt comfortable. largest bowls were cereal or enormous plastic mixing. small plates were tea cup or similar size. The whole Kitchen should be gone thru to make sure guests can prepare meals adequatly for their families. Master bed was just adequate. Large tear in ottoman with stuffing exposed in living room greeted us so not the kind of impression I would be willing to present.

Comforters on beds were stained or dirty. Towel bar in one bath and toilet paper holder in another were loose and falling off the wall. This was reported and no one ever came to fix it. Dishwasher needs to be secured to the counter top or cabinet - it tips when loading it. Chair and ottoman have tears in the fabric and need to be recovered. Blinds in master bedroom are too long and therefore will not close. Kitchen is not very well equipped - there isn't one sharp knife in the place! All of that said, the unit is spacious and is in a quiet area of Wrightsville. Beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony.
