Government Camp, Oregon
Located in the Historic Village of Government Camp you will enjoy views of Mt Hood and Skibowl from the 3rd floor deck of Thunderhead Lodge condo 301. The lodge which was originally built in 1941 has a varied history starting out as the terminal for the Skiway gondola that carried skiers to Timberline Lodge in the 1950s. At one time, there was a bar and restaurant on the mid-level, too. Thunderhead Lodge has been converted to 10 condominiums which were built in 1981.
This bright and comfy condo is a studio and has been remodeled with a new bathroom, furnishings, wood laminate floors and more. The kitchen includes a full-size range, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. This getaway is ideally suited for a couple, but can accommodate a small family for winter and summer adventures.
The studio condo (no separate bedroom) includes a fully equipped kitchen with a range, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave, dining table for 4, a queen bed and two bunk beds (2 twins each) and a private bathroom with a tub and shower enclosure. In the evenings after a day of fun, you can stream movies and shows on the smart TV or gather around the dining table and play board games or work on jigsaw puzzles.
The geothermally heated outdoor pool provides year around swimming! There is a spacious recreation room with foosball, a pool table, and a fireplace. You can step outside for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and hiking in the summer on a vast network of trails including the Crosstown Trail, the Glade Trail and many others. Laundry facilities are in the recreation room on the ground floor and are coin-operated. During the winter months, you will need a Sno-Park Permit to park at Thunderhead Lodge.

All cleaning policies meet or exceed CDC standards and recommendations. Our team wears new masks, gloves and shoes covers each time they enter home to prepare it for a new stay. We clean and disinfect all hard surfaces and high-touch items such as appliance handles, light switches, door knobs, remote controls, etc. We also clean and disinfect all dishes/glassware, silverware, bedding, towels and other linens as well as tubs and toilets. Meredith Lodging has added the extra measure of a pre-check-in inspection to make sure all of our cleaning and disinfecting procedures are complete and to our standard before you arrive.
Once it passes inspection, your home sits empty until you arrive for your contact-free check-in.
Very nice condo.
Picked this location and was excited to stay in the Thunderhead because of the spring fed pool. Unfortunately I was notified 4 days prior to my stay that the pool is/was out of commission due to an algae issue. Conveniently I was notified when I was no longer eligible for a refund and when I requested a discount/refund the property manager declined and pointed to the contract. The unit is setup as a bunk room and ideal for a dude trip. It is appointed with the basics but no frills. The building is dated and the stairs to the 3rd floor unit are significant. Without the pool, this was a extremely overpriced stay. Even if the pool was working, I would recommend staying down the street in the hotel for a lower cost option or in the resort closer to town for a slightly higher cost option that is newer, cleaner and has multiple pools / hot tubs.
I had a great time hiking in the area, my unit had all that I needed but I wanted to swim and the pics online were from possibly 40 year’s ago when it was fresh and clean and open, was just kind of creepy! The hallways were very old and dilapidated; I don’t scare easily, but I went alone and was the only person at the hotel until much later in the evening and an older couple arrived, not sure if they stayed. The unit was ok for 1 person, at best 2 people and the exterior is terrible, nothing like the pics! The 2nd night was better, a couple more people were there and that was a Friday! The pics on the website are not what I saw!!!
Great place and location!
