The original structure was built around 1885 at the prominent corner of N. Claiborne Avenue and Basin Street(previously Orleans Avenue). In 1907, Dr. Emile J. LaBranche Sr. opened LaBranche’s Drug Store which was operated on the ground level of the property, with living quarters above. It was a fully owned and operated African American business, which boasted both Caucasian and African American clientele. The pharmacy, which was among the pioneering businesses in the area, provided opportunities for other medical doctors to start their careers. Over the years the property has served many different uses. Beginning the the fall of 2017, the property received a full historic renovation; returning the building to its original grandeur.

Responsive host. Great vibe. We loved the location and Treme. We walked all over The French Quarter and Trene. We felt safe. In evenings we did uber. The kitchen had everything we needed. Beds comfy. Lots of space. I would 100% return to this place.

Busy, active, noisy street corner location. Comfortable beds and furniture, clean, nice bathrooms.

Awesome place, perfect location about 1 mile from Bourbon Street and the French Quarters which is about a month 15 minutes walk or 4 min drive. Very spacious and totally appreciated the coffee maker and coffee especially since I was the only coffee drinker. I need my coffee so that was perfect. Very spacious and the beds nice and firm which I prefer! The showers are huge and comfortable and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash a nice touch.

We thoroughly enjoyed this Treme condo. Conveniently located just a six blocks from the French Quarter, so it was an easy walk or Uber ride anywhere we wanted to go in New Orleans. The condo is gorgeous, but more importantly the kitchen and bathrooms are well-appointed with anything you need. The couch is large and incredibly comfortable, and the mattresses are also good quality and comfortable. As mentioned in previous reviews, the location is right next to I-10 highway which is very loud, but we knew that beforehand and brought ear plugs for sleeping. The condo also felt safe and secure, with a locked outer door to the building, as well as locked front door to the condo upstairs. We enjoyed our 8-day stay there and it was a perfect home base for our NOLA vacation.

We were here to work and assist with the state’s recovery after hurricane Ida. Our stay was brief but good. We enjoyed the place and the hosts seem to know what people look for in a stay. A junkie slept by the building entry door for enhanced security and we had the highway noise and tremble of the building every time a truck drove by. We worked out of our rooms, and the building had an abandoned property below on the first floor and they decided to start repairing it during our stay. The noise of power tools, hammers banging against our floor made it hard for us to stay longer. The hosts kept soap, a washer and dryer with detergent and dryer sheets, bath and bedrooms are excellent, security is ok and the kitchen is well equipped. You could use a pair of salad and cooking tongs. Overall it feels just like home…
