Step into this sunny and bright three bedroom, two bath top floor condo located directly across the street from the ocean in the quaint neighborhood of Puako on the beautiful Kohala Coast of the Big Island!



Enjoy the impeccable views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Tropical lush landscaping awaits you.



The Space:

THERE WILL BE SPALLING WORK OCCURRING AUGUST THROUGH OCTOBER ON THE BUILDING OF THIS UNIT. PLEASE INQUIRE FOR FURTHER DETAILS.



The unit is well-maintained, recently remodeled, and boasts a light, clean, and airy feeling. Local artwork is displayed throughout the condo. Although this condo doesn’t have air conditioning, the “Hawaiian AC” consisting of ocean and mountain breezes combined with ceiling fans in every room and multiple floor fans throughout the residence makes this condo quite comfortable.



This condo may be accessed by elevator or stairs. For groceries, a cart is available for transport. The cart is available at the bottom of the staircase.



Guests can relax at the property pool and indulge in a poolside BBQ grill for a perfect island retreat.



There is a book sharing library in the main entryway to the condo.



This condo has one dedicated parking stall. A secondary parking spot may be an option for the duration of your stay. Please inquire directly, shortly before your arrival, for further information about availability and cost for additional parking option.



Special Notes:

Effective Jan 1st. 2026, Hawaii's Transient Accommodations Tax will increase from 10.25% to 11% for all stays with an arrival in 2026 forward. We may need to collect the tax difference to secure and finalize your booking. We will contact you to confirm the adjusted amount.



Please keep in mind that Guest is in a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood. Noise carries over quiet landscapes and near water. IBR asks that Guest and Guest’s children respect Property neighbors' privacy, peace and quiet between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Please refrain from using the lanais for conversations or viewing devices during quiet hours.

Guest Access:

Guests will have full use and access to condo and grounds. The pool deck and public BBQ area is shared with other persons in building.



The Neighborhood:

Puako is still the only oceanfront residential community along the Kohala Coast of the Big Island nestled between the Mauna Lani Auberge/ Orchid Resorts and the Mauna Kea/ Hapuna Resorts.



Hapuna Beach State Park has earned the reputation of being one of Hawaii Island’s finest beaches. It is the largest white sand beach on the Big Island and consistently rates top ten lists internationally.



Hapuna Beach offers wonder opportunities for swimming, bodysurfing, boogie boarding, sunbathing, snorkeling, and it’s just a mile from Puako!



There are several beach accesses along Puako Beach Drive. Tide pools in Puako offer small sea life including green sea turtles. If you enjoy shore diving, kayaking, and snorkeling, you can easily find a spot along this stretch of shore line to enter the water.



During the winter months, enjoy the humpback whales who return in each year. The whales can easily be seen from the condo lanai without binoculars!



The Puako General Store is located next door to the condo. It is great for light groceries and quick bites. Blue Wilderness, located in the General Store, rents scuba and snorkeling gear and offers excursion opportunities such as dives, standup paddling, and the night manta ray experience.



Getting Around:

A car is recommended for getting around the area and enjoying all that Hawaii Island has on offer.

    We loved the property and the condo fit our needs perfectly. A family of 5 with 3 kids from ages 5-14 and a grandma, we all had an amazing time! It was August and quite warm without AC but that made it easy to get outside and swim in the pool or ocean.

    This place was everything as advertised. Though to be clear it does not have ac. It was above average heat for a couple of days but we were still in paradise. Puako is very quiet, as is the property. Short walk to the beaches for snorkeling. If you want a swimming beach we highly recommend driving to Hapuna (maybe 8-10 minutes away). One of the best beaches in Hawaii! The condo was perfect for our needs

    Puako is a lovely slow paced area with quaint public beaches across the street from the condo. Well stocked condo for our family. We loved all the nearby beaches and the turtles. Will come back again.

    The condo is in a fantastic location, with the pictures being 100% accurate. It is within a 10 minute drive to 3 outstanding public beaches (Hapuna, Mauna Kea and Beach 69) and within15 minutes to the grocery store in Waikoloa. The view of the ocean from the living room and master bedroom is postcard worthy, and the views of the mountains and sunrises out the front door is fantastic as well. The condo is well maintained, with ample towels and kitchen utensils as well as a couple of beach umbrellas and a boogie board. I would absolutely rent this condo again in the future, as it was perfect for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. A few notes I have for prospective renters: first, this is the best rental you are going to find on this part of the island outside of a resort. It is within a walk to the ocean and a short drive to world class beaches. Second, the Puako General store next door has snorkel gear to rent for cheap ($25 for the week), but not much else, so if you need food, go to the KTA in Waikoloa (I do not recommend to the Foodland that is a little closer; it is super tiny and was packed with resort dwellers). Third, bring binoculars so you can watch the whales from the lenai! It was a highlight of our stay! I have stayed in A LOT of rentals all over the country and this is absolutely one of my top stays! Do not hesitate to book this condo!

    We've stayed at Puako condos many times but this was the best. It was not very crowded because of covid but the condo was clean and well stocked with lot's of herbs and spices and every cooking tool you would need. The condo has yoga now on tuesday and saturdays at 7:30 and that is so good and you can easily meet some of the locals. They were very helpful in getting you oriented and telling us the best food, shopping, snorkeling etc.. We brought bikes and our SUP and were able to ride all over Puako and Waikoloa/Mauna Lani and also were able to SUP with the whales in the am. The location is idylic because it's right across the street from the best turtle snokeling/reef and also the best place to put in for SUPing. We love going to 69 beach and hapuna and that's very close by. We've stayed at Puako condos about 6 times thus far and wouldn't stay anywhere else. 407 is especially nice because you can see the ocean clearly and can easily make out whale spouting and breaching. What a great place.

    Property is as advertised. Photos and description are accurate. No problems with management company. Two items to note: (1) The windows are louvred, so they don't seal tightly like regular windows. As a result, it can get pretty noisy if the wind is blowing hard. It's just something to be aware of; and (2) The rental agreement is pretty aggressive. I accept the idea of releasing the landlord from liability, but indemnifying them is pretty ridiculous. Just be aware of the liability that you are accepting when you book.

    Puako 407 is wonderful. It’s on the 4th floor so there is a beautiful view of the ocean and you can hear waves lapping on the shore day and night. We were there in Feb 2019 so we also saw whales from the balcony/porch!!! It’s close to many wonderful beaches. Having the General Store right next door is so handy. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need and then some. The bathrooms were spacious and the showers were hot with great pressure. You can see the ocean from the king size bed!!! Everyone we met was super friendly. The leasing experience with VRBO was easy and Jay answered all my questions and offered lots of good area info about where to rent bikes, kayaks etc. The neighborhood is quiet with easy access to the beach. I highly recommend Puako Condos!!!

    We enjoyed our time in Puako. It was located near 3 beautiful white beaches. Take advantage of cooking yourself or packing lunches for days at the beach.

    We really enjoyed our vacation at the Puako Beach condo. The condo was clean, quiet, well-equipped and comfortable. Puako Beach Drive is away from the heavy traffic of Kailua Kona. We saw sea turtles at Puako Beach and swam at nearby Waialea Beach and Spencer Beach. The balcony has a great view of the ocean, especially at sunset.
