Gorgeous location!
Excellent!
The accommodations were rustic in nature but the view and proximity to the beach was lovely. It is easy to hear the neighbors, especially having all of the windows open since there isn't any air conditioning, but people are respectful about keeping the noise to a minimum at night. The staff was very friendly and responsive.
Awesome!!!
We love Hana and Hana Kai is central for all of our favorite spots. The unit is well provisioned and comfortable. Amanda in reception was extremely helpful. Highly recommend.
Hana Kai Maui was a great place for our stay. The views were awesome. The room was quiet and very private. We thought not having AC would be a problem, but, the breezes made it very comfortable. We would definitely recommend Hana Kai Maui.
This place is so peaceful and beautiful! Black sand beach, right on the water, wonderful lanai. I can’t say enough. I hope to return someday!
One of the most amazing views and sounds I’ve ever heard a perfect place to stay clean and amazing views and sounds of the ocean with a great balcony
Our first stay in Hana, recommended by a friend, we picked a winner. We kept the windows open the entire stay (2 nights) and were able to enjoy the sounds of the sea 24 hrs. a day... even through a thunderstorm (which was AWESOME over the ocean at night). Highly recommend. Will return.
I’m hesitant to write such an effusively positive review because I want to keep this place a hidden gem. But as a VRBO host myself, I understand the importance of reviews (good or bad). That said, this place is so amazing! Stayed with my wife and our three young kids. The layout was suitable for our needs. Two kids on the pullout and the four year old on a borrowed portable futon. The bed was comfortable enough (although firmer than I like but my wife was in heaven). The airflow in the condo is excellent and cooled down nicely by 8pm. The proximity to the crashing waves was so lovely to fall asleep to. But the best part about this place is the location. Hana is so magical and this place right in the middle of it all. Plus, the staff was great. Thanks for letting us enjoy your little slice of paradise!
Excellent location where you can hear the waves crashing from a private deck overlooking beautiful Waikaloa Bay. Property is a change of pace from other areas on the island. Less traffic and quiet.
Loved our stay, right on the water with gorgeous black rock beach view…so peaceful! Older complex is well maintained and clean, comfortable bed and all of the kitchen amenities you could want (except no dishwasher which is no problem for us). No AC but had floor fans in addition to bedroom ceiling fan which helped a lot!
Starting off with what I thought was the one negative and it is there is no AC. If you cannot live without AC, this is not the place for you. I am one of those people, BUT I took a quick shower when we arrived and realized the breeze off of Hana Bay immediately cooled off the room. The fans added even more comfort. My negative wound up not being too bad. We stayed two nights and 1 minute after that shower I truly did not need the AC guy and trust me, I am the guy who has the air on in the winter! View is spectacular. Ocean waves are literally crashing right outside of your window. The town of Hana is remote, so be prepared to have little to no cell service, but the WiFi in the Hana Kai worked very well. No TV. Our teenagers brought cells and iPads. More than enough. We went exploring during the day past Hana and came back for dinner at the Hana Ranch. It was very good. Ate there both nights. Had 6:30 reservations, was in bed (all of us) by 9 and out cold. Had two great nights of rest. Place is very much worth it if you are not looking for a ton of amenities. The road to Hana can be long and Hana Kai allowed us to enjoy the town for one full day. You have to stay two nights at a minimum.
The location is awesome. I think the other upstairs units may have a slightly better sunset view but it was still fantastic from our dining lanai. The beach was not swimmable while we were there although it may be at other times. We drove over to Hamoa beach to swim which was fabulous. The bed was fine, the sofa bed was not so much. My mom ended up sleeping on just the sofa without the pull out. The entire condo appeared very beat up, especially the bathroom. The floors were dirty when we checked in and our feet were immediately black. There was also a very musty sour used sponge in the kitchen when most condos at least provide a fresh dish sponge although they didn't hestitate to give me a new one when I asked at the desk. The teflon pans definitely need replacing. The location is everything! The condo is like a large sized cheap motel room.
