The location is great and the view was wonderful. The unit had a lot of space which was nice. There were a few issues however: the toilet barely flushed due to sediment buildup, we had to buy our own toilet paper because there wasn’t enough supplied for the length of stay we had, and there was no dish soap. The initial checkin process was not smooth, but once we got settled in we enjoyed our stay. If the owner/host addresses the issues it would improve the experience for the next guests.

Overall we enjoyed the place. Parking is an issue, and I found the map confusing, as we saw numerous others did too. So finding it at the end of a day, and in the dark, would have been frustrating. The facility itself was great.

Amenities were all great. All great kitchen utensils etc., perfect Wifi and electrical conversion. Towels for bathroom and beach. Chairs too. Comfy bed! Incredible view from this studio! Alex was always prompt to reply, and very gracious in his manners.

The unit is a well appointed studio, great view from the balcony all the way down Orient Bay, the pool is the only one directly on Orient bay with a view through glass panels which brake the wind, pool area has hard roof, pergola’s, and fabric cover to minimize sun if desired, large open areas as well, always chase lounges available. The unit is in the Tortuga building, centrally located in the Mt Vernon Hotel property, 5 minute walk to pool or beach. This is a third floor unit but it only requires going up one flight of stairs, 3rd floor a must for the views in the Tortuga building. The unit came with a dedicated gated parking spot, for me a must once you see the alternatives. Close to supermarket Super U, there is a small grocery with fresh begets and croissants daily & booze on site. Note: This property is on a hillside so a bit of uphill/downhill walking required. Tennis courts are defunct and there is no hot tub. Lastly you can drive a car to the building to drop off and pick up luggage any day but Sunday.

Property was very quiet and close to the beach. The apartment had everything you would need. Two things…one it is listed on VRBO as one bedroom and it really is a studio and two there was an issue with the toilet and it looked like is was an ongoing issue as the lever covers were off the toilet when we arrive. The host was going to send in a plumber but we resolved it ourselves. Would stay in Orient Bay again.

The good points:-great view-unit location, high enough to avoid bugs but low enough to not deal with all the steps down to the pool and beach-Alex, the owner, was very responsive and worked hard to deal with the discrepincies between the write up and the acctual .Not so Good:-Manager was 1.5 hours late meeting us dispite constant communications-No welcome book or extensive explainations from manager. How to work apppliance and TV remotes (Netflix was alll in german and no way to change it), schedule when roads closed/open to unload car, where to take garbage etc etc-lights, pillows, sheets, toilet, small appliances etc all need some upgrading.Nice people, and we hate to leave a bad review, but some TLC and an efficient manager would really help put this unit into 5 star ratings.

My husband and I loved this Studio Apartment with an amazing balcony view of Orient Bay Beach! Just a few minutes walk to the pool, beach or parkade and a short drive to grocer stores and restaurants. The owner was pleasant and accommodating! We will be back

The property, like the rest of St Martin, suffers from the aftermath of Irma. Sadly the island in general is in decline with massive over-development and infrastructure that hasn't kept up. If one were to imagine a demonstrative example of unsustainability, St Martin would be a prime candidate. Despite this, simple things like re-cycling do not exist. The French side made an attempt but collection receptacles are spilling over and littered with trash. It is truly shameful. A paradise of epic proportion in decay. Inexcusable given the conspicuous presence of the hyper-wealthy - evidenced by a main harbor pregnant with huge multi-million dollar yachts and an airport studded with private jet aircraft, some as big as commercial airliners.
