Downtown Condo Benton Harbor

The condo in Benton Harbor was beautiful. A restored upstairs Drs office. Nice exposed brick, beautiful decor, comfortable furniture, clean bedrooms & bathrooms. We got to spend a bunch of time in St. Joseph hiking trails along river & lake Michigan. Wonderful shopping district there in St. Joe with museums & restaurants. Hanging out on Silver, Tiscornia & Jean Klock beaches was a treat. Percy Bean's condo became a nice homey landing pad for us!

The owner has fraudulently claimed the entire amount of the security deposit for nonexistent damage, in addition to ceiling tiles falling on our car and actually causing *us* damage! The living space itself is actually pretty nice, clean and well-maintained. However, be forewarned that Benton Harbor is basically a ghost town, with dilapidated or broken-down buildings all around the property and literally no decent or safe places to go in the immediate vicinity. The only reason to stay here is that it might be somewhat cheaper than (or there is no availability in) St. Joseph, which is obviously the place you actually want to go to, just a few minutes' drive from here across the bridge. Again, please be aware that the total cost of staying here is likely to include the *entire* security deposit! Percy Bean is a scammer, and I hope VRBO will remove this listing after the investigation is completed.

This place was beautiful, I loved the exposed brick and high ceilings! Just minutes from the beach too!

We spent several days at Percy's apartment in downtown Benton Harbor. I grew up in the area, so I know Benton Harbor well. The downtown area is SO much better than it used to be. This apartment is within walking distance of a bunch of great restaurants, and the arts district. Easy drive to the beach or St. Joseph. We found the area to be quiet and safe. I put my car in the garage overnight - but there's plenty of parking on the street or in the lot next door too. The apartment itself has everything you could want, everything works great, and it's comfortable. Percy was a great host, showed me everything, and was available on the phone.

This was an incredible condo. It was in a great location for us and had everything we needed. As another mentioned, the immediate area could be unsettling. The owners were fantastic to work with, very quick to respond and well organized. My only suggestion would be to offer another set of keys. :) Overall wonderful experience!

The area was a little scary, and the stairs are steep, but once you get in the loft it is AMAZING!!!! Clean, Spacious and quite.
