Things to do:

Adventure awaits. Discover aquatic wildlife and vegetation at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher or enjoy a relaxing ferry ride across the Cape Fear River to a quaint little shopping town called Southport. Take a trip back in time at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site and Museum which features live oak-covered trails and bunkers from the American Civil War. Stroll through the marsh to visit the home of the famous Ft. Fisher Hermit. Or wind down with nature at our two state parks, sure to provide a memorable experience with hiking, fishing, and water activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking, and search for a Venus Flytrap which is native to NC only. As one of North Carolina's most undeveloped beaches, the island offers a unique opportunity to see many diverse coastal wildlife, including pelicans and loggerhead sea turtles, in their natural habitat. Whether it’s exploring activities on the island, enjoying the ocean views, or enjoying a cocktail by sunset from your own private balcony, Pleasure Island offers diversion for every enthusiast!

Explore the treasures of Carolina Beach, ranked one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country by Food & Wine magazine. One of the last remaining beach boardwalks on the East Coast, it includes a variety of restaurants, an arcade, shops, ice cream, Famous Britts Donuts, bars, and more! During the summer months, the Boardwalk is bustling with the sound of music, carnival rides, bingo, family nights, and events like the weekly fireworks and concert series. Annual off-season events include the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival.

We look forward to you visiting us!

Guest Access:

Our properties are individually owned, and our guests will have use of the entire property! Please refer to the listing for details.

The Neighborhood:

Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, live‑oak‑lined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s two state‑managed coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.

After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside fun—local restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Britt’s Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Off‑season brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every traveler—adventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.

Getting Around:

Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike – they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.

Wonderful location, comfortable for my family of 5 [2 teens3 adults]. House cleaning could do better, upon making the lower bed in second bedroom chips and dirty socks under bed plus a broken bed support slot. During our first night another slot broke. Having said that the next morning I did report it to management. Maintenance was fantastic they came and made adjustments to entire frame work problem solved with that issue. Upper bunk bed support slot broke our last night and hit my granddaughter in the head.I left that morning so don’t know of that repair. Several other issues - Constance dripping of water in fridge due to old door casket not sealing door properly, no working light in kitchen [ 2 lights were in kitchen neither worked], all cooking pots were burnt could not use. ..As I said maintenance was fantastic Russel and Gabriel Deserve a raise. I was given new pots , they tried to repair casket on fridge door [new one needs to be ordered I was told] , as for the kitchen light he came on Friday to change however I was leaving on Saturday so I told him to wait until I leave. So these were my issues the week that I was there what I will say is that these issues were there before I arrived and if those guest before me had called management to report broken or not working items I would not have to have all there items repaired the week I was there… Would I return ? Yes apartment was comfortable and maintenance was great

The unit was very clean and everything was as presented in the description and online photos. The live music at the restaurant across the street on Friday and Saturday nights was definitely a big negative. The music played until midnight and it’s almost impossible to sleep before the music stops. It’s super frustrating to arrive tired after a day of travel only to be kept awake by incredibly loud music.

Great location, only issue was the answering service when i had to call about the air conditioning blowing hot air. I was told to sleep with the sliding glass door open. I was advised that someone would be over in, after waiting till 10 I called again and no service call was ever made.air was fixed at 4pm.

Great condo Great location The condo was comfortable and clean. The only problem we had was with the sliding glass door to the balcony. It was extremely hard to open or close. But overall a perfect vacation and would stay here again!!

This was our 7th year coming down to the Carolina Beach area and by far the best location yet. We were in walking distance to our favorite establishments. The 3rd floor view was beautiful - sunrise on the balcony every day. 2 weeks went by like a long weekend. I will be back. Bob M

Stay was good and room was good description. Had some problems with living room TV not working due to cable companies equipment. However it was quickly resolved for us. Location was fantastic for having children with us and also offered good adult entertainment as well.

We really enjoyed having a place right on the beach. The property manager was very prompt at helping us with issues. We thought there was a hot tub but there wasn't. It was a small 2 foot baby pool that was scummy. The pool was very cold so we didn't get in. It was strange that we had to buy our own toilet paper and dish soap and dishwasher soap, paper towels etc. It was close enough to places to eat that we could walk to. The sliding glass door was very hard to open even after they came to fix it. It needs to be replaced as it didn't have a good seal between the two glass pains in the middle and the wind would howl through it. We liked having an elevator for my older sister who can't climb stairs well. We loved the view of the ocean!!
