TheSpace:

Cold mountain air drifts through the trees as you arrive, the quiet broken only by the wind moving across the ridgeline. From this mountaintop perch, the landscape stretches endlessly, with skies opening to long-distance views and soft morning light spilling across the hills. Evenings invite slower moments - steam rising from the hot tub, stars overhead, and the stillness that only a secluded mountain setting can offer.

The Setting

This entire chalet sits on a private 5-acre lot, tucked away in the West Virginia mountains and bordered by a 37-acre private nature preserve. The elevation delivers expansive views and a true sense of retreat, while still placing you within easy reach of nearby outdoor attractions along the Cacapon River.

Indoor Living

Inside, the cabin is arranged for comfort and connection after days spent outdoors. The living area offers a place to unwind with a TV set up for streaming, and WiFi that supports both movie nights and video calls. Heating keeps the space comfortable through colder months, making the cabin a cozy base year-round. A dedicated workspace in a separate room with a door allows for quiet focus when needed.

Sleeping Arrangements

The cabin accommodates up to four guests with two bedrooms, each furnished with a queen bed. Two full bathrooms provide convenience for couples, families, or friends traveling together, along with bathroom essentials for an easy stay.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen is a full, usable space designed for preparing meals at your own pace. Major appliances and an island create a natural gathering spot, whether you’re cooking dinner after a day outdoors or lingering over coffee while the mountains wake up around you.

Outdoor Living

Outdoor spaces are a highlight here, even in cooler seasons. The spacious deck invites you to step out and take in the views, while the hot tub offers a warm soak no matter the temperature. A BBQ grill is available when weather allows. The private backyard is open and natural, blending seamlessly into the surrounding forest.

Location & Exploration

You’re about 20 minutes from whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing, and off-roading along the Cacapon River, with additional wilderness areas nearby for hiking and exploring. Despite the secluded feel, local towns, historic sites, and seasonal outdoor activities are all within a short drive.

Good to Know

The chalet is pet-friendly, offers free parking on the premises, and features self check-in via lockbox. With its balance of privacy, views, and thoughtful amenities, this mountain retreat is well suited for couples seeking quiet time, small families, or friends looking to unplug together in a scenic setting.

Note

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

Please note: Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!

Had a great time, place was clean. The hot tub was clean, beautiful views the heating and air air-conditioning all worked great. The bed upstairs is a little uncomfortable. The cabin was stocked with pretty much everything we needed with paper towel towels, soap, towel, towels, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. The deck view was spectacular. Didn’t get to use the fire pit, but it was very nice definitely would rent again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this off the beaten path cabin. The view is spectacular and it is so quiet. Lots of woods and close to a quaint little town.

We stayed at the chalet for 3 nights, celebrating 60th birthday. Mike loves nature , it was a perfect gift !!! The view couldn't haven't been anymore awesome !! We spent days kyacking and Potomac Train ride. It was great location. The chalet is very clean and super cute !! The only thing was that the huge windows above ,allow the sun to beat inside. Which Made inside super uncomfortable, since the blinds at the top cannot be pulled down To diffuse the sun. Which is a beautiful asset. But not enjoyable when it's a hot inside. Many many communications with someone. The handyman tried to come and pull the blinds down.Which of course didn't work. The end of the story is by the next day at 11 AM.They had brought a floor a/c , which helped. We would stay there again. They tried to be helpful but I think they were aware of the situation beforehand, if you don't mind it warm inside definitely stayhere !! We would stay again,If Beforehand totally confirming that The a /c cooling situation adequate. I wasn't going to write a review and mention inside, just a heads up to ask if overhead blinds fixed. It wouldn't have been fair cause the place is awesome !! The view is Drop dead gorgeous !!

Went to celebrate a friends birthday. It was convenient to the Potomac Eagle train ride. Easy to find. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. Had a challenge using the tv but host helped and we enjoyed the movie. It is a small porch but had a great view. I read a comment about someone elses hot water problem but we had plenty. I would have liked to check in earlier but realize cleaning people need time to get it ready. We had multiple texts about checking out timely, I guess some people took advantage and stayed longer than 10am. Overall a great stay.

We spent a long weekend here and loved the peacefulness. The cabin is very cute (well stocked plus necessary amenities), but the view was absolutely beautiful. The majority of our time was spent on the deck taking in the surroundings. The nearby town also has a nice selection of things to do and places to eat. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a quiet weekend.

When we arrived there was zero hot water. We spoke to the owner. He apologized but didn’t try to resolve the issue. We had to drive 45 min and pay 20 a day to have warm showers not to mention the gas we had to use . I was extremely disappointed. And then I had to ask for a refund and was only offered 100$ . I will not stay here again. The visit would have been great had we had hot water to shower but it was ice cold so no warm water to wash dishes either so we didn’t use the cabin except to sleep.
