at the Plaine des Palmistes in the Bras des Calumets sector at an altitude between 1,200 and 1,300 meters.

From 2,000 inhabitants, the town of La Plaine des Palmistes has grown to more than 5,000, Bras des Calumets has not escaped this increase. Many agricultural lands have been decommissioned. The Local Planning Plan envisages the structuring of this recurring gap. A multi-purpose sports area is planned as well as new housing. The inhabitants of Bras des Calumets live mainly from animal husbandry and market gardening.

History Bras des Calumets.

It was in the middle of the 19th century that settlers came to cultivate the lands of Bras des Calumets, tea and geranium plantations. In the 1950s, a small chapel was built, then enlarged by Father Couppy, and a school. There was even an annex to the town hall. The opening of the asphalt road in 1958 gave new impetus to the village of holiday homes were built, people came to live in their homes in the warm season, leaving them the rest of the year.
