Experience the Beauty of the Sierra foothills and the Yuba River in our Yurt tucked into the forest just 2 miles from downtown Nevada City. Country Living magazine listed Nevada City as one of the top 10 small cities. Grass Valley is 10 minutes away as well and has more food, shopping, and entertainment for you. Access to the Yuba River is as close as 20 mins to Edwards Crossing and 20 mins to Hoyts Crossing on Highway 49.

Come and relax! We have an outdoor (and indoor) shower, a clawfoot bath tub, fire pit, and large deck to chill on. Surrounded by Ferns, Madrones, Incense Cedars, and Doug Firs, you will never know you are only two miles from town. We have hours of hiking right outside the yurt. Our property connects to the Woodpecker Preserve and the Gracie Trail if you hike up the mountain.

We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax.

Things you might like to bring: headlamps, robe, flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes.

There is a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm and there is a wood-fired hot tub that is dedicated to this yurt only. Both require a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc .There should be charcoal available, but if not, please plan to bring your own or go to the store..

Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious.

Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights, It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. This is a real treat during our hot summers. There will be a fan for you as well during the warm season.

Pets: We love them. Please clean up after them. Please put the protective striped sheets on the furniture to keep it hair-free if your pets jump up on the furniture.

If they do not get along with chickens, dogs, and cats please keep them on a leash. We have many animals on the property that roam freely. Most likely you won’t see them but I can’t guarantee it.

The hot tub: it’s wood-fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there! This tub may have leaves in it (they fall from above) and cloudy water. The water should NOT smell, the cloudiness is a part of the cedar tubs charm- ash from the fire and particulate from the cedar mix together. We treat it between guests with natural products that maintain the wood (you can’t use chlorine in these tubs). We clean it regularly. Please shower before using it to wash off any oils and sweat off your body. The outdoor shower is lovely :)

We had a wonderful time staying on this magical property, loved the pathways and stream to the yurt and how private if feels. The decor, books and found objects was done well. We were cozy ringing in the new year with the sounds of rain on the roof was a dream! Thank you for being dog friendly and responding quickly. Hope to stay again.

The host were super responsive and got the yurt and hot tub pre heated for us with a couple days notice. Their property was gorgeous and the getaway felt like we were completely secluded. Will definitely be back. P.s. their dog was an absolute cutie

Our stay was quite magical. The yurt is so nice and the property is straight out of a hallmark movie! We needed help with the toilet and with getting more wood and Nathan was so fast responding to our text and was so helpful. We will absolutely be staying here again in the future!

The Yurt is the cuuutest! We had such a wonderful time here. The creek, the birds, the crickets and frogs at night, the wind in the trees...it was a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. Definitely bring your own wood and coal as the people who stayed before us used all of it and if you want to enjoy the fire pit and hot tub you're going to need more wood than what was left in the yurt for the stay. A gorgeous and secluded place perfect for a weekend away.

So glad we found the West Yurt. Beautiful- the land was amazing. Loads of trails to be followed. Privacy. Yurt had everything needed and outside deck/table/fire it. Lovely shower in attached bathroom. Had some trouble with toilet but host came right away to help out. I will be going again. Can’t wait.

This was a phenomenal experience. We loved how private and peaceful this property was. Jonathan was a great host. I had a couple of questions and he got right back to me with answers. The weather was perfect when we were there in mid-July, but we will definitely be back to check this place out during the different seasons. I would highly recommend checking out the Yurt. Simply Awesome!

Nice from a distance. Lots of cobwebs, front door deadbolt didn’t work and bathroom (outdoor) had no latch. Composting toilet not real convenient but didn’t know the “rules” for use until after we reserved it. Not everyone wants to stay in a place flying political flags, so maybe warn people ahead of time that you advertise your politics with the flag at the entry. People go on vacation to escape politics.

We loved our stay here! Started the wood fire in the hot tub tub when we arrived so the temp was perfect by night when we were ready to get in. Felt so secluded in the woods. It was magical. Nathan was super easy to reach and very helpful regarding any questions! Thank you again!
