Lovely little cabin. Well-maintained and cosy. Very comfortable bed. Great experience. Superb communication from hosts. Would definitely stay again.

This is an amazing little cabin in the nature and by the sea. You can see a small part of the ocean from the porch which is absolutely incredible. The outdoor shower was also amazing. I will say there are a few bugs youll need to remove from the inside of the cabin and the toilet area had ants crawling all around inside. It didnt bother us though, it only took a few minutes. Since there is no cell service, they have board games and cards available. Worth it for the 2 nights we stayed.

Super wee cabin. Loved that it was nestled in to the bush and so easy to live in. Great facilities, well thought out.

I appreciated everything about this cabin. Provides vegetables for us. Facilities were all there. Was very quiet, hearing only nature and rain. Heaven. Walking distance to the beach. Really enjoyed everything. Would highly recommended booking here again.

Awesome small home and great location

The simple, off the grid set up of the property was lovely. Nestled amongst vegetation with birds at the backdoor and a short walk down to the beach.

A very small but nicely decorated cabin…rustic but comfortable. Bed was excellent. Best for outdoor lovers: outdoor kitchen and shower; composting toilet. Short walk to Ligar Bay beach for good swimming. I had a lovely stay.

Lovely vibe and location

We really enjoyed this stay... it was different in many good ways. Great view, fun to take an outdoor shower. We would certainly stay there again if we were in the area.

What a gem! We loved this place. The space is so thoughtfully designed to be eco friendly while maximizing comfort and the gorgeous views. The shower and soaking tub were highlights: I would love to return.

Just an incredible spot. Private, everything you need, great hosts. Very comfortable bed. If you love the sounds of nature, you couldn't pick a better spot. Very eco friendly too with solar power and compostable toilet. Fantastic value for the price charged.

We stayed with my husband at Woody Mamaku Retreat for 5 nights and it was all what we looked to relax and enjoy the golden bay. The views are spectacular and the bird life there was amazing. I’ll definitely stay again there in a future. The cabin is very clean and has everything you need. We loved the outdoor shower and being able to cook surrounded by nature.

Absolutely beautiful place. Host was super welcoming and understanding when we asked questions. Very peaceful. 10/10 Definitely recommend this to anyone.

Host, along with communication was impeccable. There were a few little hiccoughs mainly because we were the first travellers of the season but nothing that couldn't be sorted. The cabin was extremely cute & clean with a great little view. The outside kitchen was well equipped with everything you would require. We were also gifted some veg & lemons from their garden.Outside shower & bath plus compostible loo all clean & tidy. Easy walking to LIgar Bay & drive to anywhere in the bay. Great for a fab off grid getaway. Thanks

I loved the fact it was run on solar and gas..the bed was super comfy and the tranquillity of the place was exactly what i needed...having native bird life walking around on the deck was a treat...views of the ocean in the distance while laying on bed..teerrific...thanks team

The communication was amazing! On arrival we were stunned by the views and the cleanliness of the property, everything was excellent. The complementary teas and ingredients was a great surprise, we will definitely be back!

We loved staying at John and Pene’s cabin. It was well-equipped, perfectly situated and very private. We really appreciated the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the cabin and had a really serene, relaxing time listening to nature and taking in the wonderful views. It really is a gem of a place.John and Pene were conscientious and thoughtful hosts. We would have loved to have stayed longer and hope to return sometime. Ngā mihi nui.

We loved our stay here. The cabin is nestled in nature, surrounded by birdsong and has a lovely view of the sea. It's the perfect place to switch off and relax. The outdoor shower was a particular highlight. John and Pene were good hosts - it was nice to have the cabin refreshed halfway through our stay. Strongly recommended.

We loved our stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The attached undercover kitchen was clean and well-equipped, and the outdoor shower was a fun novelty. The cabin is bounded by native bush with abundant birdlife, and the surrounds are very peaceful. Only a 10 min walk to the beach. John was a helpful and responsive host. We look forward to returning.

I had a lovely experience here! This was the perfect way to experience the Golden Bay. The surrounding area is beautiful, and I loved coming back to the bach in the evening and listening to the birds and distant waves. The outdoor shower was nice too! Be aware that there isn’t any wifi, which truly makes this a getaway and a chance to stay more immersed in nature. Overall I would absolutely recommend this bach!
