MARQUETTE, Michigan
Viking-themed, super HYGGE cabin next to Lake Superior! 10 miles east of Marquette, and 30 miles west of Munising, this 12x12 foot cabin with loft is perfectly located for all-season adventures for two. The cabin, which has full electricity, is located right next to a wooded campground that is open from May through October, so depending on the time of year, there is more or less action around the cabin.
The cabin loft has a full-sized bed that comfortably sleeps two.
The cabin overall is perfect for anyone from the mellow to the adventurous, all four seasons. The cabin is equipped with air-conditioning and a wood stove, which we provide plenty of wood for. Come for all that Marquette and Munising have to offer: Pictured Rocks, waterfalls, hiking, kayaking, skiing, mountain/snow biking, snowshoeing, fall colors, & Northern Lights.
During the campground's open season (June 1st-Sept 30th -ISH), you have access to the campground restrooms and showers which are right near the cabin (about 50 steps), for NO additional fees at all. The rest of the year, you have a heated bathroom (with toilet, shower, and small sauna) at a large lodge that you can walk or drive or snowshoe or ski to (about 300 steps away).
We had a great time staying here, the cabin was cozy and clean. We loved how the loft bed felt like a nest and we thought it was nice they provided firewood for the outdoor pit, I imagine the wood stove is amazing in the winter. Definitely be sure to read the Home Guide provided so you understand how to use the amenities. The campground bathroom is closer than the shared private one, but since it's an RV park I never saw another person in the ladies room the entire time we were there. The cabin is centrally located in the campground which seems to have a lot of history, and Lake Superior is right across the street which made for a great sunset. I was a little worried because of a previous review from a few weeks ago, but the ceiling fan isn't broken it's just a little tricky to pull the chain due to the tall ceiling. The wifi didn't work which I personally thought was great since we go up there to escape, and if you really need service you can just walk across the street to the beach, we could usually get enough reception there to check our messages.
We were very happy with this cozy little cabin. Plenty of sites to see in the local area. Great agating on a recommended beach by the owner. Head east for pasties, head west for pizza. The lake was wild with 8 to 12 foot waves. It reminded me of the Pacific. Highly recommended!!!
This cozy cabin was uniquely decorated with lots of personal touches to make our stay special. It was a great homebase for our weekend getaway to beautiful Marquette!
The cabin was a perfect getaway - a real example of what log cabin living was like with modern amenities. Incredibly clean and every question was already answered by Jamie in the prearrival information. Late Sep was very quiet and enjoyable in the campground and full bath at the lodge met all needs. Good location for easy access to Marquette and short drive to Munising.
20 years travel with 4 international experience and this was the worst experience ever. Started with owner showing up and telling us how the last two groups damaged the property. Filthy air conditioner didn't work in small hot space. Several inaccuracies in property guide starting with incorrect wifi password. Extremely unpleasant.
