Beautiful cabin in a very peaceful, private location near a National Forest. The home was clean, well stocked and had everything we needed. There was plenty of firewood available to last us the whole 5 nights we were there. Only 15-20 minutes into town. The road is unpaved part of the way up to the cabin and we had snow as well, so be sure and plan ahead on meals and drinks before driving up. We truly loved the beauty and peacefulness of the area and would love to come back! Host was very receptive to questions and quick to respond. Helpful advice navigating our walks and hiking in the snow! Thank you!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The cabin is beautifully rustic but still has all the conveniences you need to be comfortable. Cold, crisp mornings were one of our favorite parts—and on two mornings we were even greeted by a roadrunner, which felt extra special. The drive up to the cabin is lovely, with juniper views and a nice overlook of the city. The nearby stream added to the peaceful, tucked-away feel of the place. Our adult kids especially loved the loft bedroom and the work area—it worked perfectly for everyone. The stove was adorable and reminded me of the 1800s-era wood-burning stove we had when I was a kid—such a cozy, nostalgic touch. The queen bed was super comfortable, and we loved the look and warmth of all the wood throughout the cabin. One small note for future guests: because much of the cabin uses reclaimed wood, we did get a minor splinter from a door frame. That said, it was a very minor thing and absolutely worth it for the character and charm of the place. It’s beautiful! Thoughtfully decorated, rustic with modern amenities. Absolutely perfect! The cabin was very well stocked and thoughtfully equipped—everything you need is there. We would happily stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, rustic Santa Fe forest getaway.

Cozy cabin. Unmaintained mountain dirt road is very rough to navigate; glad we drive a mid size SUV. Housekeeping could use some improvement. Comfy bed, wifi easy to connect to. Property manager very responsive when called. Very quiet & serene, nice linens. Thank you for a very relaxing stay!

This literal cabin the the woods is magical and straight out of a fantasy novel. We couldn't have asked for a more picturesque setting. The cabin was well stocked with anything you could need plus there was extras that really came in handy, (coffee and sugar that we forgot). The only thing that was a bit of a surprise was the lack of cell reception. Not that it would have change our mind but, it would be good to note especially if you have people that call/text often. The chicken theme made my southern heart so happy! Melanie was a joy to work with and I hope we can visit again.

From the booking of Storybook Cabin, all the way up to check out, we had fantastic communication from the owners and property manager. Everything was exactly as pictured and described. For those looking for a remote getaway but with the proximity to Santa Fe to make towny stuff still very convenient, this is a great spot. We loved the charm of the cabin's rustic build and location. There are several hikes in very close proximity that were simple and scenic. Great spot, would love to visit again!

I want to find an authentic cabin “away from it all“ to gather my thoughts, enjoy some peace and quiet, do a little actual work, plus work on a history book that I am writing.

I’m a native New Mexican that currently lives in Texas. I recently told my husband I was needing the mountains, I was needing home. This place healed my spirit instantly. The cabin is exactly as described and then some. We had our 3 year old with us and she did fine; very kid friendly. Brian was there to greet us and provided a wealth of knowledge. The drive up the mountain is beautiful. The access to hikes and the river are right outside your door. They have a few games which was perfect and age appropriate (loved the very hungry caterpillar board game). The house was stocked with everything you could think of, from firewood to extra floor mats. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. We will definitely be back next fall!!

I love the location, being close to the mountains of the Santa Fe national forest. Couldn’t ask for a better location if you enjoy being off the beaten path a bit. The hosts and their neighbor were all so helpful and kind. We are excited to come back!

This cabin is top notch. The pictures are accurate and was well stocked with all we needed. Melanie was very fast with good communication. The early check in helped us and was much appreciated. It is an adventure getting up to the cabin. I would highly recommend the Storybook cabin for a peaceful retreat. Not far from town and 2 casinos close by.
