The Shady Pine @ Barren River Lake, KY~ Hot tub-Football-Fire Pit-Mammoth Cave

What a lovely stay! Our host was so accommodating and everything was as pictured on the listing. In fact, it was even better than I thought because there was a table that sat 8-10 people inside the house that I didn't realize we would have! And the hot tub was brand new as well. My kids loved the basement with all of its funtivities, and we loved snuggling up on the couch with a fire crackling away. Highly recommend!

The host truly thought of everything! From towels for the hot tub and blankets for the fire pit to extra toothbrushes and toothpaste in case you forgot to bring them, we will definitely come back again. Thank you for a wonderful girls’ weekend!

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was amazing and had everything we needed and then some. Location is beautiful, although the lake didn’t have water in the cove just a short walk down from the dock and there it was. We generally are not board game people but played every night. One small issue with the hot tub but the host was very proactive and corrected our problem. We look forward to visiting again this summer.

The hosts were very accommodating! Responded quickly, which made planning things way easier. You can 100% tell they pay attention to detail, and offer many amenities! This cabin was absolutely perfect for an all girls weekend cabin trip! We felt very safe.

This cabin was truly exceptional! As a host, Melissa was thoughtful and checked in with us, yet was never intrusive. Every aspect of the space reflected an impressive level of care. Melissa and Mary put an incredible amount of thought into everything-even the intricate, small touches had clearly been carefully planned. The attention to detail was exceptional and had been carefully considered to create a comfortable, welcoming experience. It was warm, inviting and incredibly cozy!The cabin was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and more, which made our stay effortless and relaxing. From the thoughtful layout (like adding 2 mini fridges under the coffee bar) to the little details you don't always realize you need until they're there (like a lint brush-lol), nothing was overlooked! It was the perfect snuggly winter retreat, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! We will absolutely return (hopefully in the summer next time)!

This house is fantastic!! It is beautiful, the view is gorgeous, the dock for fishing is great, the beds are comfortable, the game/ play area in the basement was so much fun and is a great place to hang out, and the owners have gone above and beyond providing everything you could possibly need! There are so many little touches that make your stay easy and relaxing. They have little signs everywhere explaining how things work (which is so very helpful in a rental home), they provide blankets for the campfire, campfire supplies, tons of gaming equipment, cozy blankets for the living room, and so many other things! The hot tub was very clean and worked well. We travel multiple times a year and have stayed at a lot of vacation homes and this host was by far one of the best to work with and one of the best at providing everything you could need! We highly recommended this home!

We had a nice relaxing time at the Shandy Pine. Everything we needed to cook and grill was there. We wanted to kayak but the dock was damaged by recent flooding, and the other dock was kind of a haul, so we decided to rent a boat from a marina on the lake instead. We Definitely recommend that! The hot tub was also a great alternative. The kids and adults loved the game room! There were so many tiny details that made us feel right at home! Thank you for sharing your little slice of peace with us!

The best vacation rental we have ever used! So much thought put into the little details that made it feel so homey. The cabin is beautiful and you can’t beat the location. We rented a boat at a nearby marina, but decided we would have been just as happy hanging around the cabin.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful time at the cabin. It was very clean and inviting with clear instructions/ labels throughout. There were so many things to enjoy from hot tub to kayaking on the lake to ping pong and air hockey. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable escape for the family and a close drive to Mammoth Cave which we had wanted to visit for the first time. Highly recommended!

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful! The hosts ensure that you are well taken care of. Opening up their home, every part of it. One of my biggest pet peves staying in rentals is the host has so many rules, or things you can't do, or you literally have to bring everything to enjoy your stay. At this cabin, they know how to host! They thought of it all, offering to use anything they have and offering all the suppliers you need to not have to worry about making a store run. We were so relaxed staying here. Very cozy, decorated perfectly and not too far from places to venture too. We were greated with a sweet welcome gift and it topped the stay off like a cherry on a sundae. Beds were comfortable, hot tub was relaxing, games were fun to play, and the basement area was also a good place to hang out in. Truly will come here again. Thank you for sharing your home with us, it was beautiful.

Everything was so nice! We loved it here! Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, game room, beautiful deck, the host has really gone above and beyond.

What a nice property! What thoughtful hosts! Everything we needed was there with a note to help find it. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was stocked for all the cooking. Definitely recommending to friends.

Area is great for fishing. Water was 30 feet above summer pool. If water was closer to normal depth, this part of the lake would be ideal for bass, crappie, catfish, and any panfish you might be fishing for.

Beautiful cabin tucked into a private area of the lake. The cabin was decorated very tastefully and we had everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home. My daughter loved the game room downstairs and hot tub. She also liked fishing in the lake. Gorgeous views from the cabin.

Stayed here for a very relaxed bachelorette party/girls weekend. The cabin was fantastic (we were all very impressed)! Melissa was great about sending us a list of things to do in the area and responded quickly. The cabin was super clean and very well stocked with all of the essentials plus a ton of games, s’more supplies, and an “in case you forgot something” basket. The beds were comfortable (even the day bed). Many of us said we would love to return for another trip. Reception isn’t great at the cabin/the surrounding area but we all had a good WiFi connection :) You may have to drive a little ways to get to things to do/restaurants, but we didn’t mind this at all… the surrounding area is very pretty. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would 100% recommend.

This beautiful & well appointed cabin is all it is described as, and more! All of my family, ages 10 & up 6 of us) thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. So very relaxing with the fireplace, hot tub, games galore and hiking! We also visited Kenny’s cheese farm! This cabin & location is a wonderful place to celebrate any holiday!

It was beautiful, clean, the “extras” of s’mores, fire pit materials, hot tub towels, the bin full of personal care items commonly left at home were above and beyond any VRBO we have ever stayed in. Thank you to our hospitable hosts and we will be visiting again!
