The 'Gray' Escape, Honeymoon Cabin

When we arrived, the cleaning lady was just finishing up which I actually didn't mind because she was very nice and we had a good conversation. My boyfriend and I sat in the sun while she finished wiping down the kitchen and she actually offered to help us carry anything in in case it started to rain. She told us where the keys were and wished us a wonderful weekend. The cabin is adorable and had everything we needed for our three days. Hot water was great, the fireplace was beautiful and the view and privacy is amazing. We look forward to returning. Excellent memories are made here!

This little cabin was just the right size getaway. The trails were just steps from the cabin and plenty of trails to explore. The host was very reaponsive and very helpful.

We loved our stay at The Gray Escape Honeymoon Cabin! When we first walked in the door we could smell how clean it was. The cabin is decorated so nicely and had everything we needed. It was perfect for my husband and I and our dog Pippin. We will definitely be back!

Everything was great

The cabin was perfect. Clean and well equipped. The bed was a little soft for us but manageable. The driveway was as steep as described and DO NOT use your GPS to nav there. It was a bit of an adventure but well worth it. One other suggestion is to make sure you bring your own personal soap. The only soap provided was dish soap, which isn’t a big deal but we had to make a trip down the mountain to get some. There are several stores within 15-20 minutes. Would absolutely stay there again!

Place was amazing. It was only me and the dog so little to no trash was produced. I did have a hard time with the lock box when I first got there it was hard to open. Could have been the cold weather when I arrived but over all amazing place.

When we got to the cabin it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. Communication with Patti was easy and she was quick to make things right. For the rest of the stay things were good. It is a very peaceful cabin.

Very responsive host. Great location, close to lots of hiking and walking trails. Close to downtown Blowing Rock and not far from Boone. Great for a quiet weekend away.

Patti the host was exceptional. The cabin was perfect. It was exceptionally clean the fireplace worked great even though we only used it twice on a chilly morning. A very quiet and serene location.

It’s a great escape from the world. I really enjoyed the quietness.

The house was very clean, nice location close to Blowing Rock, kitchen was just right for two people. The only negative was there was no A/C, which I didn't think to look for in the description. It was a warm, muggy stay even with all the windows open. It did cool down during the night, but I didn't feel safe with doors and windows left open. There are ceiling fans in every room. The one in the bedroom was wobbly and made noise. A box fan or standing fan would have been nice. Overall, I would have given 5 stars if there had been A/C.

Once we found it and got the lock box number. Our map directions were screwy. Had to call the owner to get directions.

Perfect for our 17th Anniversary get as way! Clean, secluded and at the same time within reasonable driving distance to wonderful towns in the area with great atmosphere, shopping and restaurants.

Wonderful little cabin! Very clean, cozy and well furnished. We wish we were able to stay more than 2 nights, but hopefully will get therecagain sometime!

We loved this place. It was very clean and well furnished. The area was quiet and the rhododendrons were just beginning to open. We saw a deer and fawn at the fire pit the day we arrived. The next morning on the way out we saw a small bear crossing the road. We have absolutely no complaints.

It was just a 2-night trip and next time we will stay longer. The cabin itself is so charming and quaint. Lots of different things to do around or just stay lazy!!!After dark one gets a firefly show

The cabin was very nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay but would like to suggest a couple areas for improvement. First, the steps leading up to the cabin entrance were a problem for both me and my wife. They are steep in places and there is no handrail to the door. My wife actually fell the first night trying to navigate the stairs. Young couples may not have a problem but we definitely did. And, two, the tub is very large but there is only 1 small hand rail to assist you getting into the tub for a shower. We had problems with that and opted to not take a shower for safety reasons. Other than that we were pleased with out stay.

This simple & cozy cabin was ideal for my plan to relax & breathe in the mountain air. Though the driveway was steep, it wasn’t that difficult and it benefitted the property, for when I sat on the porch it felt just like a tree house. You will be surrounded by trees & the stream just across the road provides constant white noise that is very relaxing. The sound of wood thrushes was a real treat with their flute like trill. Absolutely beautiful. Everything you could need is there..except soap. So if you want to wash your body bring your own, otherwise you will be using Dawn dish soap or hand soap. And toilet paper, you only get 1 roll. Your mobile phone will not work here, no calls or texting, but there is Wi-Fi, and a few miles down the road your phone will work. Advise to print map & directions & not rely on navigation system if you are concerned about getting lost. It is very close to Main Street Blowing Rocks which is worth a stroll for dining & shops. It is a beautiful area & was perfect for my mini retreat.

My boyfriend and I went to celebrate our ten year anniversary. We truly enjoyed our stay! The cabin was beautiful and very secluded, surrounded by trees providing total privacy. Living in the city currently, we loved only hearing birds, the stream in the distance and the occasional car driving past on the dirt road. We also really enjoyed spending our nights hanging out on the porch, the surrounding trees made for beautiful, breezy weather. The cabin was very well kept up and super clean with a huge bathtub which was big enough for two! I would also like to add that it was very nice arriving to the lit up pathway at the entry way to the cabin - this made it an even dreamier experience than it already was! Lastly, there are a lot of fun outdoor activities and good restaurants (as well as grocery stores) conveniently located near the cabin to keep you entertained. Cannot say enough positive things about our stay here - we can't wait to plan another trip!

Enjoyed it so much that we are planning on staying there again next year

The property was perfect for a couple. I was not expecting a mile long gravel road to get to the cabin, but it made unique!

Beautiful little cabin for a long weekend. So peaceful and cozy .. enjoyed everything about it. Cabin was clean and equipped with everything you would need. Close to restaurants and attractions but far enough away

Quaint and cozy cabin with a few things that could be improved. Living room and kitchen are heated by the propane fireplace. Did not locate a carbon monoxide detector. Bedroom has a wall heater that drops down to low 60’s during the night. We were provided with 1 roll of toilet paper for a 2-night stay so bring some extra. Surprised to find no hand soap in the bathroom so bring your own hand soap, body wash and shampoo. You have to step into a very deep jacuzzi to shower. Even with holding onto the provided handrail your foot still slips out so be careful. Make sure to find this cabin during daylight hours. The road going in is filled with many deep pot holes on both sides of the road for a long stretch. The driveway is steep.

We came to celebrate our 15th anniversary by hiking at all of our favorite trails and having dinner at all of our favorite restaurants. This was our first time staying here, but it won’t be our last! We’ve already booked our next visit!

This was an amazing stay and beautiful cabin.

I have stayed in many VRBO properties. So often they end up not being as good as they look on the site. That is not the case with The Gray Escape. This cabin is wonderful! It’s extremely clean and comfortable. It’s very cute and cozy. It’s in a beautiful and secluded spot surrounded by the mountains and rhododendrons. We happened to catch it perfect with fresh snow. As others have said, the road in and the driveway uphill are a little tricky but we managed to find it and manage it well. I highly recommend going in your first time when it’s light out. I can’t imagine trying to find your way in the dark. In conclusion, I really can’t say enough positive things about the cabin and our experience. The place is very well equipped with everything you will need for an amazing stay. We will be coming back for sure!

The property was very nice. We found the cabin and saw the housekeeper who was very helpful when we arrived. It was a little cool but hey it's the mountains in December. Highly recommend and would go back. 5 Stars all the way around.

Words are not able to describe the experience we had. Breathtaking views, amazing cabin, peaceful, and the jacuzzi bath/ fireplace are heavenly! Also, there is a trail nearby with a stream that added another layer to the stay.

The property was beautiful and conveniently located with easy access to all there is to do in the Boone area. Perfect retreat for a couples weekend getaway. My only regret: not being able to stay longer.

Although it was very difficult to find, once we got to the cabin it was great! Very clean house and well appointed. It was exactly what we expected.

Beautiful cabin completely surrounded by the forest. Very private and only a short drive to blowing rock. Everything was clean and working. So peaceful.

Great little hideaway. Wonderful open flooplan that makes the absolute most of tge square footage. Private, sufficiently secluded and yet close enough to necessities.

This place was great! The cabin was cozy and very clean. We were just steps away from a hiking trail. There is now a hot tub in the bathroom which was an added bonus and great surprise! We'll be back to stay again.

Wonderful five days! Cabin very clean, stocked kitchen, just bring food if you’re cooking. Quiet and peace on the porch, our favorite place to stay in the mountains.

This is a very comfortable well maintained property. It is cozy and totally private. The owner did a lovely job with it. The road is semi-paved and the steep driveway is gravel, so be prepared!!!
