We all loved this trip. We (husband and I) traveled with my four kids, my parents and my niece and nephew. kids Aged 6-16. No offense to the photographer of the images but the pictures donNOT do this place justice lol. It’s so beautiful! The master suite is gorgeous. Tons of natural light. Great dining area. Beautiful scenery. Fun for the kids to just explore in property. We built a fire and did s’mores one night under the gorgeous night sky. I may have missed them but didn’t see roasting sticks. So I had my husband bring some (he came later). The kitchen had a nice array of some fruits upon our arrival which was a nice touch. Cozy place to watch a movie in the fam room. Very clean. Great mud room room to take care of all the gear we brought. I loved the kitchen. Will definitely be coming back!
Got the family together to view the 'Ring of Fire' eclipse. We had plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their time over the weekend! The fall leaves, evening stars, and blue sky weather all cooperated. Couldn't have been better
My family spent a few days here while visiting Mesa Verde National Park. Location was close to the park. The house is rustic and comfortable with plenty of room for all of us. The tree swing was a big hit with the kiddos. We would come back!
We spent a week at this property and enjoyed the fresh air, comfortable home and location. It is near Cortez and Mancos for access to kitchen supplies and any other needs you may have. The sitting areas are spacious and allow for gathering and separation as desired. Highly recommeded for families/friends coming together to enjoy the area.
This was our 3rd year coming to this magical cabin. The water was very high this year creating more of a beautiful landscape. The property is in a great location between Mancos, Dolores and Cortez. Wonderful hiking all around. The owners are wonderful and very quick to respond if there are any issues. We feel very blessed to be able to share in this cabin.
We enjoyed our one week stay at this VRBO property. With 10 people (ages 5, 10, 12, 14, 16, 19, 40s x2, and 70s x2), it was at times a bit tight. However, it did work out well and the family spent some good quality time together. The weather was lovely and the property was very well kept up.
This is a very nice place with very good owners keeping the place clean with every amenity. Kitchen was fantastic.
The cabin was clean, well stocked, and the views were beautiful. It was a relaxing stay. Thank you.
Very peaceful and beautiful property. We loved cooking on the gas stove and all of the windows. Air conditioning was not needed at all. There was a nice collection of books and activities. The beds and furnishings were comfy.
This was our second stay at this cabin. We loved it so much we had to come back! Once again, we loved our stay. Secluded, peaceful stay. Perfect gateway for our family and pets!
Seclusion was great, yet close to Dolores, Mancos and Cortez. Our dogs LOVED the lake area and the fox and deer that visited often. Great mountain bike riding at Boggy Draw in Dolores and good dirt biking in the national forest. Weather was fantastic. Hated to go home.
My wife and I have taken our older grandkids on a special trip with just the two of us (no parents!) This was our last trip and we took our two youngest (and our 14 year old, their cousin, to help us!) We originally had a different house rented, but the family had to sell the property a month before our trip! We found this property and it was available and looked like it fit our needs. The owner, Bill, was great to deal with and responded to every question we had. When we arrived, the property was everything as advertised. Our two youngest immediately began to explore the house and claim beds. This was followed by exploring. We discovered that the kitchen was well-stocked with almost any utensil you might need. There is a propane grill on the deck and we used it several times during our week-long stay. A laundry room is located off the kitchen and it has a relatively new, high-end washer and dryer, which came in handy with two young ones. The beds were all very comfortable. The house has no AC, but we found the temperatures to be very pleasant. I am quite hot natured, but usually ended up grabbing a blanket during the night. The game room and table upstairs served us well for our games and puzzles. There is a good supply of puzzles, books, and games. The property is about 15-20 minutes from Cortez and a couple of grocery stores, including Walmart. Driving through Cortez showed us that there is pretty much anything you might need there. The drive to Durango is about an hour or so, any way you slice it. However, this was not a problem since our trips in to Durango were generally day trips anyway. For planning, however, you should recognize the distance. We visited Mesa Verde, which we consider a must-see and is only about 15 minutes away. We went to the Bar D Chuckwagon and show and loved it. We went on a trail ride with Lynne and Perry at Rimrock Outfitters. The opportunity to have a cup of coffee and visit with them was also a highlight of our trip. You will not run out of things to do in the area. Perhaps the best part of our trip was the property and house. Our two youngest (and the 14 year old) spent a lot of time exploring and finding, rocks, flowers, fossils, old animal bones, and just having a blast. As we approached the end of our trip, our youngest told my wife that he was sad his special trip was ending. I think we were all a little sad and we look forward to returning soon. Thank you, Bill!
This was our 3rd stay at this fantastic house! We enjoyed relaxing on the wrap around porch and cooking on the outside grill! Our daughter enjoyed the swing and taking short hikes around the property. We spent 1 and 1/2 days at the nearby, Mesa Verde National Park! Incredible family vacation yet again!
The house was very nice and exactly what they described. I would recommend this house to everyone.
This house is on Summit Lake which requires a CO Wildlife Area pass. That reduces traffic and only non motorized boats are allowed. We only saw a few people out on the lake during our eight day stay. So it was quiet, filled with birds, reflecting amazing sunsets. Wish I had that view all the time! That said, in June, the mosquitos and gnats/midges were relentless. We would have liked to spend more time outside but even bug spray didn’t keep us safe. The owners were very responsive. I let them know of a couple things they might want to address and they had a plumber out that same day. The kitchen is large which was great for our family. And there’s a large rustic dining table. The nicest seating area is upstairs, along with the master and another bedroom. There didn’t seem to be AC. It was in the mid 80’s during the day and the upstairs got a little warm. But at night we opened windows and turned on the central fan which cooled it down to the upper 60’s by morning. The house itself was clean but I gave them a so-so rating because there were many moths flying around, dead flies in the windows, and bird guano all over the deck. You’re in the country, so some of this is understandable. But they might want to ask the cleaning service to hose off the deck railings and outdoor seating, and also vacuum the window sills. Personally, we’d rather have a few bugs than chemical pesticides. Just FYI.
We loved our stay here. The property is clean, comfortable, private, and beautifully situated. The owner is easy to communicate with. Everything was fantastic. Lovely place.
We loved our time at the house. It's beautiful and well cared for. The owners are very hospitable and quick to respond. We loved Mesa Verde and visiting Durango. This place is perfect for families looking for relaxation or gathering together.
