LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Need to get away from the big city You have found your retreat! So many things to see and do, without the crowd. River Haven Cabin is nestled right on the beautiful Shenandoah River, with a spectacular year round view. The very name River Haven hints to its warm and cozy place on the river. Explore the river or the nearbynational parks, all at your own pace. River Haven has something to offer for all who visit. Please note-this property may not be best suited for those with mobility issues, as there is a slight incline/decline getting to the cabin and back up to the driveway.

River Haven is the perfect place to relax. Enjoy a local hike or sit back on our large deck and enjoy the river. River Haven offers all the comforts of home with the advantages of being located by the Shenandoah River. Bring a pole and lures and enjoy our abundant small mouth bass or take the canoe and tour the river.

River Haven is situated on the northwestern portion of a 200 acre farm named Rivercrest that dates back to an original land grant from the King of England. The original deed granted hundreds of acres to the Moyer/Taylor family who were also distant relatives of our 12th President of the United States , Zachary Taylor. While the Taylors amassed most of their holdings through many local business dealings of the 1800’s, the fertile soil and incredible waterfront beauty of Rivercrest always interested the last heir Everet to farm and cultivate the rich soil and produce abundant crops. In the 1960’s, Mr. Taylor sold roughly an acre of riverfront property to a local businessman and soon after River Haven was born. The previous owners of River Haven upgraded and maintained the waterfront retreat and decided to share its peace, quiet, and solitude with the rest of those looking for a retreat away from the stresses of modern day life. And, to this day, these qualities make River Haven such a unique and incredible property and it invites you to feel like a part of the infamous Shenandoah River like no other can offer. As the owners of Rivercrest and now River Haven we are pleased that the two are once again joined together and we are anxious to add our touches to River Haven and for our guest to experience the stress and tension leaving as you make your way down past the historic farm that we and Mr. Taylor love and cherish and find your peace, solitude, and enjoyment in all that River Haven has to offer.

Host was very responsive. Place was very clean. Everything was easy to find and worked well. It was the perfect size for our small family. The view is gorgeous. We kept saying how great this place would be in the warmer months on the river. Hot tub was the best part.

Everything was nice and ready for our visit with extra towels and the owner(s) made it very cozy. The river comes right up to the house and huge deck which we loved. Good times!

Lovely location which was perfect for a week of rest on our family holiday. The girls liked having space (using the loft area) and being able to go out on the river in the canoe was a great treat. Scot was a wonderful host.

Beautiful view! The hot tub was a nice way to relax after a challenging hike. The house met all of our needs, but was a little smaller than expected. The beds creaked a lot, and the doors didn't close easily. Overall we had a very nice and enjoyable stay.

This trip was fantastic! It was myself, my spouse, and our two friends. Everything was exactly like the listing, and this is a a good fishing spot due to the easiest river access ever! We had some impressive catches too!! The hot tub was well kept, worked phenomenally, and was also very easy to access. This is also such a nice private area, and the fire pit was so fun for s’mores!

This is house right on the river with a great view, but much smaller than I expected. It is comfortable and fairly well equipped. The Internet worked great, but we never tried the TV. The kitchen has enough graters for 5 kitchens but no mixing bowls, measuring cups or measuring spoons. Forget baking a cake. No cake pan either. The loft is pretty much unusable unless your children are small enough to crawl to the beds, but old enough to climb the vertical ladder on the wall. The beds downstairs were very nice and the furniture was comfortable but a recliner or lounge chair would have made it better I give it 3 stars because of the entrance way. The path from the car to the deck of the house is in terrible shape. It is very steep and uneven. The paving is badly cracked and covered with loose rocks and buried stones. The luggage must be carried by hand up and down this path. It is not for the elderly, handicapped or very young. I only left the house occasionally and with exhausting effort. It is very dangerous. Also, once you get down to the house the entrance door opens into the bathroom and right next to the TOILET! not very private if people are coming and going.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The host’s communication was exceptional, we only had one small issue and he responded so quickly to help us. The property was clean and had everything we needed. The only thing that would have been good to have was a larger frying pan, but you can definitely still cook effectively if you don’t want to bring one! We loved the proximity to the water, getting on and off of our paddleboards was easy with the ladders attached to the dock. The view from the deck is beautiful and I wish we didn’t have to leave. Our stay was wonderful and I would absolutely stay here again!

We try to stay every year. Every year gets better and better. Scott is always improving the property. We have met a lot of host thru the years but none, by far compare to Scott. He truly loves his job, no issues he can not handle. So relax and enjoy the little River Heaven.

We had such a relaxing time during our stay in this lovely cabin! As a young family with a 6-month old, it was the perfect place to stay for the weekend and just disconnect from city life. Some highlights were sitting on the deck overlooking the river and hanging out in the hot tub. While we didn’t partake in any canoeing adventures ourselves, there is a dock on site with a canoe, oars, and life vests. There’s also a grill on site and a fire pit. The close proximity to Shenandoah National Park was a huge plus as well. We would love to come back to stay again!

We were very pleased with the rental. It was clean comfortable and secluded which were all the things we were looking for. The large deck overlooking the river was a great place to relax to eat or just enjoy the solitude. The weather was perfect so that made it even more enjoyable.

Despite the rain and foggy weather, we had a great time here catching up with old friends. A beautiful place to stay and explore the area. A quick drive to Harrisonburg and Luray.
