It was easy to find, the email I received was well instructed and we easily got into the house. We made pancakes in the morning and they had all the dishware that we would possibly need. The bathroom was very clean and so were the bedrooms. All-in-all, a great place to stay and a very beautifully decorated house.
We loved this booking and it's proximity to several activities around the Mount Hood area. The house was decorated adorably and it was so peaceful. They also left us a beautiful bouquet on the counter for when we arrived. Our only suggestions would be to invest in a better master bed mattress. We stayed for a week and were waking up in the middle of the night to move down to the couch. We also found ourselves wishing there was a TV/entertainment downstairs during cooking and socializing (we know this is subjective). There was functioning wifi but we found it a little laggy, too. Overall we would suggest this booking over and over again, as we were able to work around our above suggestions, just fine. Thank you!
We loved the quiet surroundings and the river literally in the backyard. The house is very comfortable with everything we needed!
This cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The pictures showed a pretty good view of the river behind the house, but it is so overgrown you can barely see it. Even so, we enjoyed our stay here.
Love this artsy eclectic home. It was clean and quiet. Access to river. It is in the woods. Be sure to take E. Sandy Ave-don’t follow gps!
I loved the way the house was decorated, it felt homey. My daughter called it a fairy house because it seemed magical to her.
My wife and I had a good time hiking in several areas within a few hours drive. The house has an open concept, reminds me of what it may have been like back in the day. There is a nice hiking trail along the stream in the back yard. Me missed the house at first as we were thinking the pictures that we used as a reference were taken from the back of the house. There is a description of some a classic Crosley stove which does not exist. There are no ice trays and when I inquired I was told that it's not listed in the amenities, never thought of ice trays as an amenity. The back door latch is broken and the doors are held closed by a rock inside. It's pretty secluded so we didn't feel in danger but it should be fixed. There are 2 other properties on both sides of this house that are VRBO's but we enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay in this unique cabin. The location was a bit tricky to find at first (thank goodness for Google maps), but we ended up enjoying it being off the beaten path. My family and I stayed there for ski races up at Skibowl. We thought it was a very easy drive up to Skibowl, Meadows, and Timberline. The thriftway grocery store was very close and had everything we needed. We loved the open floor plan, fireplace, and the huge windows. The kitchen was spacious and the dining table and chairs were so cool! The house seemed to be clean but we were a bit overwhelmed with all the knick knacks and decorations. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this quiet, quirky cabin!
I have to start by saying this place is an amazing home. The detail to construction and furnishing of this home was clearly a labor of love by the Owners. If you want a quit place in the woods with the sound of the river in the background, then this is the place. The pictures depict this home accurately. Now to the disappointing news. And I do not ever post negative reviews, but I do here in hopes that the Owners take a close look at who they have managing their property. Quit simply, this house is being neglected. It was not clean. It is not in good repair. And any items we found were all easily fixable if the managing company is paying attention. They clearly are not. And the person who cleaned the house prior to my stay clearly does not care about the quality of their work or the homes they are charged to clean. This is a real tragedy once you see what this home has been, and could be if it were being taken care of. A quick list of issues include: A dirty kitchen counter, including used and dirty towels. A dirty fridge that needed to have food wiped out of it before use. A filthy kitchen table with food and butter all over the top and in the cracks of this gorgeous reclaimed wood table. A filthy bathroom with soap and toothpaste spots on the beautifully tiled sink, and urine spots and blood on the toilet seat. The linens and towels did not smell fresh, which seemed to make sense when you consider they tell you to strip the beds and start laundry before leaving the house, but yet they left zero laundry cleaning products. The game table in the corner of the Livingroom is an awesome place to sit and play cards or a board game, but we had to turn over the table and tighten all the legs before it could be used. And the fireplace was great to light and enjoy a warm fire, however the fireplace was not clean prior to check in, so I had to clean before use. This would be no big deal, but there was absolutely no accommodations such as an ash can to safely dispose of the ashes. One of these days someone will throw ashes somewhere they shouldn't and burn this house down. In addition, the screen on the fireplace is badly in need of replacing and makes safely shutting the fireplace doors, one of which is broken, difficult to fully close. The road leading to the house is a story all it's own. Barely wide enough to navigate in my Tahoe. Full of pot holes. And some of the homes in the area make me question the safety of the area. Hope the Owners see this.
The cabin had beautiful, unique tilework and wonderfully done eclectic furnishings, and sense of rustic and simple with obvious quality. Nice open floor plan and beautiful view of the river. A disappointment was there was no hair dryer as advertised, and I packed accordingly. I paid a $130 cleaning fee, and was still required to strip the sheets, start the laundry. We were told to start the dishwasher, and there was no dishwasher. We did the dishes by hand. We were also expected to empty the garbage and recycling. We were there two nights and they only left enough wood for a fire that lasted a couple hours. It would have been nice to have had a fire the second night as it was even colder outside and they only had a space heater and a wall heater available. The fees charged by VRB were as much as the cost to rent the place, so it was double what I was expecting. I was grateful to have gotten it, though, as it was Christmas Eve and Christmas. Check-out at 10 was hard with all the houskeeping we had to do besides packing. No leasurely breakfast to enjoy before hitting the road. If you know what to expect up front you won't be disappointed.
This place definitely gives you all the cabin vibes. The decor is top notch, very beautiful views. Right off the river which sounds beautiful when you step outside. The bed was comfortable.
Beautiful setting and location, thank you for a nice place to stay in one of our favorite areas to recreate.
Bit of a hiccup at the beginning but overall was a wonderful stay. Really enjoyed the massive collection of VHS
We loved the quiet of the area and the fireplace. The cabin has a lot of unique quirks and decorations.
Amazing
This cabin was the perfect getaway for our group of 3 friends. The cabin is tucked in a wooded neighbourhood directly in front of the Sandy river. There is a path along the river great for evening strolls and bird watching. The cabin was cozy and quirky with lots of VHS's, old skis, artsy tiles, creaky floors, and thick blankets which gave it a family friendly vibe and character. The kitchen was sufficient for big meals, the showers were nice and warm, and the WIFI worked well for movie watching. It was a great deal for the price and a lovely retreat. We'd stay again. My only confusion was the cleaning instructions posted on the door which encouraged us to run a load of laundry (which we did), take out trash (which we did) and load the dishwasher (there is no dishwasher?). Some clarification on cleaning expectations would be nice. I'd also warn folks that the road in is a bit bumpy with deep water-filled potholes but do-able, even in a small car. We'd definitely come again! Thank you for the lovely stay.
