Rockfish River Cabin is every bit as visually appealing and comfortable as the photos and all of the reviews suggest. Its location and surroundings were also perfect for us. We (two couples and our pup) spent a wonderful three nights there and will be happy to return next year. Can’t beat the peaceful views and sounds of the river from the deck. We also enjoyed the walking path very much. Grilling on the deck and cooking in the well equipped open kitchen was a pleasure. Recommend Three-Notch’d Brewery and The Smoking Barrel Restaurant. Communication with John, our host, was excellent!

This is the perfect home to relax and soak in the beauty. The light and views from the rooms were stunning. John was the perfect host, even offering to bring us kitchen items as we may need them.We enjoyed our walk by the river and time on the expansive deck listening to the calm sounds of the water below.

This place is so peaceful and beautiful. The cabin is bright and spacious. The bedroom suites are on opposite sides of the house which is perfect for two couples. The open kitchen/living area looks out over the river and the large back deck overlooks the small but beautiful river. John was fantastic. Highly recommend!

We REALLY enjoyed our recent stay at your cabin! We especially loved the beautiful space, and sitting on the porch listening to the river. The cabin was well-appointed with fluffy towels, fully equipped kitchen with nice cooking utensils, comfortable sitting areas, and a wonderful open feeling and views with large glass windows and high ceilings and clean! The cabin is situated away from the crowds on a quiet river. The advertised view is exactly how it was. We are already looking forward to a return visit soon! Owner/Host was a pleasure to work with!

My husband and I spent two nights here on our anniversary trip. The cabin is lovely, with amazing views, as well as having hiking trails right on the property. We were quite comfortable, and John was a perfect host who communicated well, gave great directions, and answered our questions quickly. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this cabin when you want to get away to a very quiet, peaceful, comfortable location.

The cabin is so new and located by the beautiful Rockfish River. The Sounds of Nature and the babbling River added to the experience as we sat in the deck morning and evening. Great walking trail along the River. Easy to get to local breweries, ciders and wineries.

This was an amazing little escape from “life”. The house was exactly as it was described. Our favorite spot was on the deck listening to the river flow. Additionally, watching the bald eagle glide right by us as it navigated the river for food! The house is an easy 20 mins drive to Charlottesville’s and less to wineries and breweries. If you’re looking to enjoy Charlottesville while also soaking up some peace and relaxation, this is your place! It was a perfect stay!

Wow! Upon pulling up we were amazed with the location but as soon as we entered the front door, it was absolutely stunning! The cabin itself is SO CLEAN!!! We enjoyed sitting out on the large deck enjoying the view. There is a walking path that is cleared that we enjoyed as well! The host John was wonderful and we will definitely be back!! Our family spent the weekend here while visiting the area, and it was just perfect. It is in the woods off the beaten track, but only minutes to civilization and all the amenities. Only 25 minutes to Monticello, and lots of antiques and shops within 20 minutes. The beds were very comfortable, and it has modern amenities like a great stove and bathroom heaters. And that back deck with the peaceful breeze over gurgling beneath it was heaven! We would definitely stay here again!

Upon driving into the forest on the way to the cabin we knew it would be special. Open airy feel of this spectacular cabin made us feel we were completely alone in the forest. The sound of the water, beautiful hiking paths, and the stunning cabin have made this a place we will return.

My girl and I had searched for a cabin like this for a year, maybe two. We both grew up in the northern mid-west and spent summer vacations in remote family cabins on the water, in a time when nothing was spoiled by heavy human presence. John's 'cabin' has the exact remote north woods feel we remember as kids, starting with a drive winding up and down through the forest ending a couple miles in with a cabin that far exceeded our childhood lodging. The pictures do not do the place justice! The main room and flanking bedrooms have floor to ceiling windows and doors that lead out onto the full length deck, elevated above the river 20 - 30 feet away. VERY well laid out. The view is spectacular, especially when watching bald eagles and ospreys on their tours up and down the river. Kayaks are staged along the river every hundred yards maybe - we used those and the tubes we brought every day. The next closest cabin is a hundred or more yards away, but you don't see it from the grass path along the river. That's rare, and is in our top three criteria (cabin that fits the surroundings, water, and privacy). Even better - no mosquitos! That made outdoor time all the more enjoyable.

Great location: sleeping with a window open to hear the sound of the river water going across the rocks, kayaking in your front yard to visiting orchards, vineyards and just great scenes all around. I recommend this place!. Very secluded.

We booked this home as a last minute get away and were so glad we did! The home is brand new and tastefully decorated. The view off the expansive deck was the best part of our stay. We loved listening to the wildlife and flowing river below. To access the river, we followed the groomed trail to the right - an easy and scenic walk but wear old shoes if it’s been raining. The cabin is located near many wineries and distilleries. We hope to visit again soon!

Wonderful house in a special location! The property was even more beautiful than I imagined with the design of the house thoughtfully architected to take every advantage of the gorgeous property. As others have mentioned the house is spotless, comfortable with a roomy kitchen for prepping meals. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the river and wildlife on the deck and walking through the forest along the paths. This property is real gem and John was a wonderful host.
