The cabin was spotless and we were welcomed with a bottle of local wine in the fridge. We're planning to come back again!

Easy to get in touch with host and she was very friendly. Clean inside and out. Beautiful property and so quaint. Just about anything needed was there. If it wasn’t then town is just a hop, skip and a jump to the grocery store, gas station, dollar general or restaurants.

Beautiful Cabin and very cozy

My husband and I had a wonderful stay! We really enjoyed the quaint cabin! The layout was perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed our morning coffee overlooking the river watching for Eagles! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. Susan was very friendly and quick to reply. We’d love to stay here again!

The cabin is set on a beautiful setting, peaceful with the river meandering by. It was exactly what we were looking for. Cannot wait to find time to go back. The cabin was immaculate. Susan had everything you need to cook with all the way to a fire pit.

The fireplace was not useable which we were not advised on the listing.

There were only two space heaters.My husband fell and cut his legs on the landscape rocks around the sidewalk.

We enjoyed our girls weekend at this cozy, secluded cabin. The area is beautiful in the fall with the changing leaves and the view of the river. We found the kitchen stocked with everything we needed to make coffee and meals. It is a great place to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Walker Ford cabin. It was very clean and modern looking. It had all the necessary kitchen items we needed, other than salt, but not a big deal. The bed was very comfortable. I also appreciated the nice hand soap that was provided in the kitchen area and bathroom. The view of the river was amazing. The location is closely located to river resorts if visitors want to float, kayak, canoe, etc. There’s a Country Mart about 10 minutes down the road where we bought some groceries. Firewood is not included, so you’ll have to buy some. We visited the Onondaga State Park and visited the cave, which was super cool. It was about a 25 minute drive to the park, so not a bad drive. We were just wanting a quick getaway that wasn’t too far from home and had a nice river view. It was definitely worth it!

This is an ideal spot for relaxation and peace. It’s off the beaten path, and we saw nor heard a soul while enjoying the lovely yard and it’s view of the river. The cabin is darling, was extremely clean and well equipped. Our host was terrific - quick to respond and interested in helping make our stay enjoyable. I expect we will return!

This is a lovely cabin. We chose it because it was so close to the river. It has a beautiful view and had a gentle slope to walk down for river access. We enjoyed a fire in the firepit on our last evening. This was a really relaxed trip.

We came to the cabin hoping for a peaceful escape on the river. It did not disappoint. We enjoyed sitting in the sunroom watching the river and taking the short walk to the water. The little stone cabin was small and reflected some history. Although some history was left to admire in the other rooms, it was evident that the bathroom was nicely updated. Our host, Susan, was very helpful and pleasant to talk with.

This cabin is BEAUTIFUL!! From the stone exterior to the river view, it was nothing less perfect. Check in was effortless, everything we needed to relax was available. We did have trouble finding extra linens for the pull-out beds, but made due with what we could find without complaint. The fire pit was probably the heart of our stay. We spent each night sitting around it enjoying the flora and fauna as the sun set and colored the sky and river. We even had deer come straight up to the patio while we were sitting there! Our stay was a Momcation for us to get away, relax, and recharge and this cabin was the perfect environment to do just that. We are already planning a return trip in the Spring!!

Peaceful, beautiful, people in the town of Steelville were extremely friendly. We will come again for sure! We love the place.

Quiet, beautiful, cozy. Lots to do if you want, nothing at all if you prefer that. We would stay here again.

Love everything about this cabin, the river, the view, the location.

We have stayed tons of places and this was one of the nicest places we have found. The cabin was cute and clean. The access to water was way better than we expected, it’s actually an old boat ramp. We took our chairs down and sat on the ramp, very quite and beautiful!

This was our second stay at this cabin. We loved it so much last year that we decided to take the 1000-mile drive to stay here again this summer. The cabin was perfect for our needs--rustic but with all the creature comforts, pet-friendly but clean and meticulously maintained, with a great yard and easy river access, secluded but close to town. Our dog absolutely loved swimming in the river! After two weeks at virtually any vacation rental, we're usually bouncing off the walls to get back home. Not this time. We would have gladly stayed longer, and we'd certainly love to rent this property again. It was that good. And the host certainly made us feel welcome with her great communication whenever we had any questions.

Enjoyed the beautiful fireplace & stone work of the cabin! Very quiet & private at the end of the road. We loved going to Elephant Rock State Park & Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park & Onondaga Cave! Would’ve loved the kayak run but weather did not cooperate. Beautiful treed area!! Susan was prompt in responding!

We stayed a few days in Steeleville, MO, during our Rte 66 road trip thru MO. Our host was absolutely wonderful! We ended up arriving later in the evening, in the dark! She actually contacted us, providing directions and maintained contact with us until we arrived. She made sure we had everything we needed upon arrival... even a bottle of wine! With her vast knowledge of the area she was able to provide so many excellent suggestions for food, shopping and site seeing. We LOVED the quaint cabin off the river! It was so nice to sit outside on the patio with a glass of wine, enjoying the beautiful view and the sounds of nature after a long day of sightseeing. It was awesome to have so many different animals visiting the property and so cool to see all the turtles basking in the sun. We even spent a few hours fishing on the river right there on the property (had to buy fishing license and equipment 1st). Susan is the BEST Host ever! Thank you for such a great time! Wish we could have stayed a few more days! Hope to visit again!

We were looking for a small cabin in the woods by a river & close to home and this cabin seemed perfect. The reality was exactly as advertised and we truly enjoyed our short stay. Contacted Susan several times and she responded quickly, was very helpful. We plan to return again, for a longer stay the next time. We Highly recommend

The Walker Ford Cabin is the perfect combination of rustic, but not too rustic, yet impeccably clean and cozy. My husband and I along with another couple had a peaceful and relaxing weekend which was the perfect end to a very hard week. The cabin is decorated with just enough country charm. From dishes, untensils and cookware to towels, hairdryer etc, just about everything one needs is already provided. Our host, Susan, answered questions in a timely manner, was very courteous and welcoming to which we were grateful. The only complaint is that the weekend went by too fast. Lovely cabin and beautiful, tranquil property.

The cabin was wonderful. It had everything we needed for our weekend. The location is the perfect amount of secluded, but still near enough the town to make it a quick drive to get food or supplies. Being right on the river is great and the view is perfect!

We had a lovely stay. The cabin has been updated with a very nice bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows were installed in the covered porch overlooking the Meramec river. The owner has done a great job of preserving the charm of the cabin and adding upgrades.The cabin is at the end of a deadend close to the river. Quiet ,peaceful serene. We saw deer, hawk, a hilarious squirrel who kept our attention each day.It was hard to leave each day to attend activities planned. The owner was very responsive and shared interesting history of the cabin and neighborhood. We want to plan another stay. .

we just stayed at the private river front cottage and believe me it is private. located at the end of the road with a large yard facing the river. it was perfect for balling catching with our dog. the river is right at the corner of the property which our dog loved. The house although only advertised as one room was quite well appointed with an added on a porch facing the river which we sat in most of the time. We really enjoyed the peacefulness of the cottage and enjoyed our time in this historical charming little cottage

This was an absolutely beautiful cabin and location. Speaking with the owners was easy and she definitely made herself available! Even provided channels to watch in the TV. Fishing was great. The place was clean with a couple exceptions. The outdoor grill needs new grates and the outdoor fire thing had a hole in the bottom. Overall, it was amazing! I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful setting and perfect river access. Only complaint was the beds ... Two pullout couches were very uncomfortable (as most normally are) but reg. bed was fine! Overall was a nice little get away!

The cabin is tucked away on a private drive with a lot of open space fronting the river. It's incredibly peaceful and the front room is perfect to sit and sip coffee while watching the river. We will be back!

Amazing view of the river from the patio (and back room). Spent mornings sitting outside watching the river and enjoying coffee. Took the short walk down the trail to the river, lounged in the sun then took a dip in the water to cool off. We spent each night sitting around the fire pit just enjoying nature. Plenty in the area to do for sure however my favorite day was just hanging around the cabin enjoying the quiet outdoors. Just what we needed, a peaceful, relaxing weekend!

Great for a St. Louis region getaway! Well appointed with all the necessary needs. Great river frontage and nature watching. Cute and serene, with all you could ask for in a area of peace. TV needs? Check Wi-Fi? Check Kitchen appliances? check Landscaping maintenance? Check Outside cooking options? Check This cabin (noticeably upgraded) covers all the basics for a peaceful retreat. And Sadie approved by our Goldendoodle!

We have a lovely time at this cabin. It was well equipped with everything we need for the weekend, and access to the river could not be beat! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful water-front location.

Just what we were looking for! Peaceful and the only sound we could hear was nature! Beautiful scenery and great river access. Really enjoyed seeing three otters playing in the river! Short distance from town where we ate at two different places. Very good food and friendly people!
