Private, Mountain Views, Large Deck, Hot Tub - Alpenhaus

Our stay was fabulous. It is just what we were looking for. The natural beauty is amazing. We saw wildlife every day. The accommodations were great. The house was very clean. The hot tub is a definite yes please! The beds and bedding were very comfortable. Top-notch in almost every way. The only thing I might say would be that a house that accommodates nine people should probably have at least two large skillets available for cooking, and that it is mentioned that the roads are extremely rough coming into the property and vehicles should be considered for that purpose. Thank you so much for such a wonderful, wonderful experience!

We had the perfect week away at the Alpenhaus! The cabin itself was beautiful and equipped with everything we could need. The views were absolutely stunning. The proximity to Fairplay and neighboring cities like Breckenridge (plus several trails) made it a great spot that felt remote but not too far from food/activities should you decide to venture out. The road to the cabin is a bit bumpy and my non-4WD SUV made the trek just fine (even after some snow) but would definitely be safer to have a 4WD in the event of heavier snow. Would definitely visit again!

Beautiful home exactly as advertised. Take people serious about both the road to the home and altitude sickness! My friend came from Seattle area to join me and was struck with altitude sickness within 24 hrs. Once we went down into the town of Fairplay , about 1000 ft. lower, he was fine. We picked him up some oxygen and hydration stix and had no more problems. Road was being worked on, so eventually it seems it will be more hospitable. We asked for early check-in and got it which was nice, but when we got to the house the front door was standing wide open, which was strange. Beyond that, everything was great. Nice bedding and towels, plenty of odds and ends in the kitchen. Games for all ages available too. BBQ was clean, which was nice, and the hot tub was perfect. The town of Fairplay was also awesome. We got there just in time for Burro Days, a big weekend celebration with a burro race and concerts and lots of Vendors all set up. What a great bonus. Overall a great trip. Great communication from property manager as well.

We just loved the peace & quiet up in the mountains. Home had everything you could possibly need. Very clean & well maintained property. Great host and good communication as well. Would definitely recommend this property!!

Roads were a mess getting to the property. It was actually too far out for us. We would rather be closer to a town. Great open area with lots to explore. Layout was challenging to climb so many stairs after a long hike. We were making Italian dinner on our last night and went to bake the bread and the oven didn't work. What a let down. Other than those things it was fine.

Well appointed, tastefully decorated, and (of course) the incredible view. The missing hair dryers were a minor inconvenience (someone had taken all 3) and a couple of the jets on the hot tub didn't work. However, it was all extremely clean and comfortable. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The home is beautiful with views of the mountains and forest. The east window wall offers great views and it would be good if there were some blinds that could be adjusted in the morning as the sun shines directly into the dining, sitting and kitchen areas-sun visor needed at the table. Range could use an upgrade - took the oven a long time to heat and the oven light didn't work. The light under the microwave to light the stove top doesn't work. Lots of hot water was good. The deck is wonderful and spacious. We had a nice stay.

It was a great place for families and a beautiful location in the Colorado mountains. I enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying the snow topped mountains. We really enjoyed it and wish we could have stayed longer.

Very nice cabin with great views. Maintenance is lacking. Third floor lighting and fan inoperable in bunk room, also in stove vent hood as well as a bulb in the dining chandelier. Also, kept smelling exhaust fumes from, I guess, the water heater and furnace which are piped together on the ground floor before disappearing into the ceiling. Vented the house twice by way of windows and doors, but smell kept coming back. Third floor sink drains slow (partially clogged). Mentioned all to property management who just kept saying they'd pass it to their team but heard crickets about the fumes. Should be noted that the CO detectors on all floors remained silent, but the smell still gave us headaches. Lastly, cleanliness was lacking. Floors unswept/vacuumed as evident by animal hair and popcorn on rugs. Found a lift ticket brochure in the nightstand from 2010-2011 season, Legos under the ottoman, and various trash and personal items under a bed. I wasn't looking for anything mentioned but my wife has a tendency to drop everything and Murphy's law dictates it's gonna end up under something which it did. Lastly, the cleaning fee was 280 which was high considering the above and the fact we were advised to remove all trash, start laundry and the dishwasher, and clean the fireplace...all of which would never be the case at a hotel or resort. I would have rated this poor, but the location and views precluded it.

We are a family of 5 with kids 13, 12 and 10. We wanted a house away from town where our kids and dogs could just play in the snow. This house was PERFECT for that! We have an suv with 4 wheel drive and didn’t have any trouble getting in and out of the property. The house is spacious, clean, easy to heat…I will say previous reviews are accurate: there were 5 towels in the entire house. If you say you can host 10 people, there should be AT LEAST that many towels. Same for pots and pans in the kitchen. We cooked every meal for a week at the house and can comfortably say the pot/pan/knife situation makes it difficult to cook for a group. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this property to anyone looking for.a quiet getaway! Also the town of FairPlay is lovely. Thank you for an awesome week!

This cabin and location is amazing. From the hot tub, wood burning stove, mountain views, to the fact that there are no neighbors and highly recommend staying here in the winter. The snow is gorgeous and it's like being in your own snow globe.

This is the 2nd time my family and I have stayed at this beautiful home, and once again we had an awesome time. There’s a lot of room for everyone to enjoy, both inside and outside, and even the dog found adventure exploring the two acres with the kids. This mountain gem is secluded and quiet with tons of privacy which is really nice when you’re using the outdoor hot tub. Needless to say, we’re planning to stay here again for a 3rd time next year. FIVE STARS!

Just as advertised. House was exactly what my wife and I needed for a week away. This is the house you need if you’re looking for complete isolation with wonderful views of mountains. The house is clean and beautiful. It was so hard to leave when we had to head home. We would definitely book again if returning the area.

The photos do not do it justice. Its secluded, quiet, incredible views, spacious, etc etc. Super dog friendly! We were able to bring 3 of our very good dogs. They even have an extra kennel if you need it. The water does have a bit of a sulfur smell but thats just due to the area its in. They do a great job with using a water softener and filters in the fridge.

Plenty of room, well furnished, with an amazing view as advertised. Our family loved our stay here and appreciate the hospitality from the Owner for renting so others can enjoy! A couple useful notes about our stay….The house is definitely remote (about 15 min from nearest town) which we were looking for but also very conveniently located within an hour of all the outdoor activities for short day trips. As noted in other reviews, the mountain roads are minimally maintained and very rough as expected for a remote setup, but useful information when planning vehicles. We found the road to the north was better to travel on. It is also at a high elevation so consider taking precautions for altitude sickness if that’s something your affected by. We did have an issue with the hot tub while staying there but the management company was very responsive and easy to get ahold of, as well as worked around our schedule to take care of the issue. The response is more important to us than the issue as you can’t control when those things happen, and they were very accommodating. The dryer was a little loud and took a while to dry as well (2 cycles)…we reported this to the maintenance company but didn’t ask them to fix while we were there because it didn’t bother us but thought they might want to know for maintenance. I’m sure they will take care of it quickly like they did with the hot tub. Overall great experience from our perspective and would highly recommend to others!
