The Refuge is a charming 3BR/2BA cabin close to Boone, West Jefferson, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. With easy access right off of Highways 421 and 221, this is in an ideal location less than ten miles from Boone and less than ten miles from West Jefferson. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Appalachian State University, Sugar Mountain, Hawksnest, Grandfather Mountain, and Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and many other High Country attractions are all convenient to The Refuge.
The main level offers a great room with soaring, vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors. Dining for six and a fully-equipped kitchen area is open to the great room. Two bedrooms flank a full bathroom with a tub/shower on the main level. One is a queen bed, and the other has two twin beds. Both bedrooms have HDTVs. A covered front porch with a two-seat glider, an open-air rear deck with a gas grill, and a new hot tub complete the main level
Upstairs features a private master suite with a queen bed, a full ensuite bathroom with a centered soaking tub, shower, and an HDTV.
The Refuge offers a fun outdoor setting with wonderful amenities for our guests. Walk down a natural outdoor stairway to the wooded creekside fire pit and picnic area, explore both cleared and wooded rolling land, all bordering a rushing mountain stream. Soak in the hot tub on the rear deck. The property is private and at the end of a quiet residential road.
*Please Note: A pathway from the house leads down to the hollow, which features the creek, fire pit, picnic area, and peaceful grounds to explore. An outdoor lighting system will offer visibility for navigating the path in the evening. The mountain terrain can be dangerous if careless or not paying attention. Rocks can be slick, especially those in or near the creek. Terrain can be inconsistent and can cause twisted ankles and falls. Please explore with care and be safe.
*NO HUNTING, TARGET PRACTICE, OR SHOOTING OF ANY KIND ON OR AROUND THE PREMISES OF THE REFUGE
Additional Note: The property has two exterior security cameras which face the parking lot/front door and the side of the home. The cameras are only operational when guests are NOT PRESENT in the house. The cameras do not face any of the living areas or rear deck areas of the home.

This was a nice little cabin that looked to be well maintained. It was very private and the proximity to Boone and West Jefferson was nice. There are a few drawbacks to the house. The queen mattresses were very firm. Firm to the point where my wife and I decided to sleep in the individual twin beds in the guest room after the first night. If you do not like a firm mattress, this is not the place for you. Also the master bath has no door between it and the bedroom. A little separation there would be nice.
This was a great cabin tucked away all by itself, and we really enjoyed the creek.
The Refuge is exactly as advertised and very conveniently located. It’s private, even feels a bit secluded. The creek side space is tranquil and romantic. We enjoyed our stay.
The cabin worked well for our family. It’s location was quick and easy to get to from the main highway. The place was as advertised. Our kids enjoyed exploring the creek below and the hot tub was enjoyed by all. One critique is the mattress in the upstairs bedroom was slightly uncomfortable. Overall would recommend.
My fiancé and the couple we traveled with fully enjoyed the use of the hot tub and fire pit. The seller had excellent and timely communication. Close enough to all the destinations we planned to see and the property felt remote enough to truly enjoy a mountain cabin getaway.
Great place. My only negative comment would be that we could not get the back porch light to work.
We stayed at the refuge cabin in the mountains in fleetwood, NC. The property was great and had a hot tub, grill, indoor fireplace. Great cabin with comforts of home. Great lighted walkway down to the creek with an outdoor fire pit. We loved it!
The location of this cabin is perfect. Private and serene. We loved the fire pit, playing in the snow, and walking all the trails. Our only complaint would be the walls are very thin... Whoever sleeps in the queen guest room will hear every little noise that comes from upstairs. They should consider putting carpet in the upstairs room to help muffle the noise. Other than that we loved it and would definitely stay here again!
I could not have been happier with my stay at The Refuge. To begin, Carolina Cabin Rentals was easy to work with. All correspondences were professional and kind. The Refuge is truly that as the cabin is nestled into a secluded wooded area with easy parking. The cabin is warm and cozy. The owners even have the cabin decorated for the holidays! Everything about the cabin is spot on - clean and tidy decor, comfy beds and couches, fully stocked kitchen (they even have a coffee grinder!), grill that made the perfect steaks, relaxing hot tub on the back porch - I could go on and on! My favorite part of the property is the creek side fire pit. You cannot go wrong with staying at The Refuge. I look forward to scheduling another stay!
This lovely and cozy log cabin is located adjacent to a wooded area that lines up to a creek bed and firepit. The house was super clean and fully stocked and the perfect getaway for my husband, myself, my mother-in-law and teenage daugther. We enjoyed sitting out at night on the deck, grilling out for dinner and my husband and daugther loved the hot tub after a polar plunge in the creek bed. We loved how easy it was to get to from the Cary area versus Boone and Banner Elk that has much more congestion. We would definitely stay there again. Great location to everything.
