Saluda, North Carolina
Get away from it all. Relax, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy seasonal views & fresh mountain air from this welcoming cabin. Convenient to many wilderness, architectural, civic & other charming attractions. We invite you to visit and enjoy!
Enjoy the breeze and view from this light-filled cabin on top of a ridge. Walk to trails in the NC Wildlife Game Lands or just enjoy strolling around the gravel roads of our neighborhood, Piney Mountain -- keep an eye out for deer, birds and other wildlife. Many trails, waterfalls and outdoor adventures in the nearby area.
Dogs are welcome, but not on the furniture. Must get owner approval and pay pet fee.
The cabin sits on a 4.25-acre wooded lot. Enjoy a beautiful mountain view year-round and 360-degree winter mountain views. Whether you're looking for some family time or a chance to connect with friends, this place has been set up to accommodate. Floor plan is open with a bedroom and bathroom on each level. Hang out on one of the porches or deck, watch a movie in the loft, grab a book, or choose a fun board game. The house is set up to make you so comfortable you won't want to leave.
But if you choose to venture out and explore, historic downtown Saluda is very charming with excellent food, art and live music. And there are lots of day-trip options including:
Sky Top Orchard, Zirconia
Hendersonville
Tryon International Equestrian Center
Lake Lure
Asheville
Chimney Rock
"The mountains are calling, and I must go." - John Muir
Other things to note
The roads within our development are gravel and our driveway is steep. 4WD/AWD vehicles are necessary in times of inclement weather. They are not necessary year-round but more easily navigate getting up the driveway.
There is no cable...only a smart TV with a DVD player and some DVDs.
The cabin was just what we needed! Very clean and comfortable! Beautiful View!
Great property, very clean and simple. Good location for relaxing not to far from town and amenities.
This property is one of the best we have ever stayed at. Very clean & well stocked. The enclosed porch is very cozy, the hammock is a great place to read or relax. Large decks to enjoy the view and watch wildlife. Having trails so close is nice. There is an info book that we found very helpful. The fire pit was our favorite. We will definitely return. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in a beautiful location this is it.
Had a lovely weekend with my girlfriend and our dog. Lovely views, close to lots of hiking.
This one of the most beautiful settings I've stayed in. The cabin was perfect and designed for total relaxation. I'm looking forward to returning for a future trip.
Just delightful, it was like living in a tree house. Impressed with how well stocked it was. The basement was a nice surprise to store our bikes, they even had a bicycle pump! Owner is very conscious and a great, very responsive communicator. It is in the mountains and does take a bit to find a gas station or grocery store. That is part of the beauty, and charm, just plan ahead. Lots to do in the area.
Spent a quick birthday celebration weekend up from the Raleigh area and it was perfect! Convenient hiking right from the cabin, easy skip over to Saluda and Hendersonville, and a perfect place to call home for a few! Alison is super easy to work with and made sure everything went smoothly. She was responsive and attentive before our arrival with recommendations (The Purple Onion in Saluda did not disappoint!) and helpful through a minor snag upon arrival to the cabin. The directions were easy follow, even with a road washout due to all the rain in the area. The hiking was a bit of a bushwhack downhill (option 2 in the book) with several downed trees to navigate (again likely due to the recent heavy and consistent rainfall) but would do it again and never felt like we were off trail or lost whatsoever. We did the option 1 ridgeline hike too and while enjoyable is probably better in the winter when the leaves are off the trees...we went until the trail started markedly downhill and turned around - about 1 mile out from the cabin. Had a nice birthday dinner at Brandy's on Main down in Hendersonville on Saturday night and even managed to enjoy a bit of live music in the square before heading back home. The screened porch seemed to always have a breeze and the view from the hammock is amazing and sitting and reading on the uncovered deck was also nice (also with amazing views). We will certainly be back to the area and would absolutely stay here again!
We had the best time staying at the cabin! We love how it was furnished and the design of the cabin. We went hiking everyday! The toy basket was a huge hit! And we loved the deck and the screened porch! Thank you! :)
We had an excellent experience. One thing that we kept talking about was how the cabin felt so peaceful and just like home but better. The cabin was fully equipped with everything a family could need. We are already talking about returning later in the year. The morning coffee view is spectacular! Thank you Allison for your hospitality!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful and cozy cabin. The views are incredible! The cabin is clean and the perfect size for our family of four. Hiking right on the mountain was convenient and the waterfalls were breathtaking. Already looking ahead for our next trip.
We loved Piney Cabin. Great views, nearby hiking, fun towns to visit. We’ll stay here again.
This was our second trip to this property. We love the cabin, it has plenty of room and beautiful views of the mountains. The forest is very quiet , sometimes the only sound is slow travel on the surrounding gravel roads. The local area (Saluda, Columbus. Lake Lure and Hendersonville) was interesting for us to explore. We plan to return next year.
All it is listed to be and more, gorgeous setting, amazing cabin, beautiful hikes and great town and food. If you are wanting a place to go to relax, enjoy nature, and totally unplug - Piney Mountain is the place !! Only wish we could have stayed longer.
This is a perfect spot for relaxing and is in close proximity to just about anything you would want from a trip to the mountains. Clean, comfortable, and a sweet view on a deck that seems to go forever. So many of the houses we have visited have too many personal “dust catchers” as my husband likes to call them. Piney Cabin instead focused on what was needed to make for a comfortable stay. The art work was lovely! While we couldn’t get the wifi to cooperate, we did not miss it. This happens! Thanks to our host, Alison, for sharing Piney Cabin with us. Would highly recommend.
This was probably the best vacation rental we have had. The cabin was great and the view was even better. We were not ready to leave!
My husband and I spent a much needed long weekend away at Piney Mountain with our dog. The house was exactly as expected! We had everything we needed and the house was clean. Alison was quick to answer on Easter when we had a question about the nearby hiking trail. The house was perfect and it was great to be able to get to trails without driving. My husband loved the hammock and we enjoyed the deck so much that we did not even watch tv - great place to unplug and relax! Thanks so much!
