Stayed May 28, 2026The cabin’s interior was clean and tidy, with eclectic decor and a working pinball machine (so fun!). There is central air that works very well and stands up to that southern Illinois humidity. The shower was perfect for my 6’5 husband and had great water pressure. You’re surrounded by deep woods but only a few minutes outside of Carbondale, a short drive to Giant City, and all of the other great places in the area. The cabin was a bit hard to find at first, while there was signage, it still wasn’t clear to us where it was (user error? Long drive fatigue?). It’s set back a bit in the woods but once you find it, it looks like the pictures in the listing. Very cool spot and a great value for the cost. Good space for a couple to stay and relive the So Ill memories!

Stayed May 17, 2026The cabin was amazingly clean despite being in the woods. It was very quiet. The property was beautiful. A simple way to get away from town for a relaxing vacation. The host was very helpful.

Stayed May 8, 2026The cabin is nestled in the woods at the end of a winding road. Very nice and secluded. Tom, our host was warm and welcoming and respectful of our privacy. My only negative comment is that the place could have been a little cleaner. The bedding, towels, cookware and tableware were all clean. The cabin was a bit dusty. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Stayed Mar 6, 2026This was our second weekend at Cabin 3. We love the fireplace, the low key, unobtrusive host, Tom, the quirky vibes, and the woods! Our dogs love being there and Tom doesn’t charge a ton of money for them to stay. The cabin was well equipped and we saw a large barn owl perch for about half an hour just beyond the bedroom window!

Stayed Feb 20, 2026If you're looking for a five star all inclusive resort, this is not the place for you. It's a charmingly rustic cabin tucked back in the woods. I've seen the negative reviews complaining about the random vehicles parked about or sheds sitting here and there and to be honest it made me want to book it even more. The cabin was PERFECT. The host, Tom, was so welcoming. You feel like you're in the backwoods somewhere but you're only a minute from town. We throughly enjoyed our stay and our only complaint was that it wasn't long enough. If you're looking for something different I highly recommend this lovely little place!

Stayed Nov 8, 2025The cabin was cozy and in a great location. I loved all the artwork and decor. The host was friendly and available. We enjoyed the fireplace and the firepit. I would note that it only has one bed and a couch as the listing says it sleeps 4.

Stayed Aug 1, 2025Early check in was allowed. Property was scattered with junk/ trash on both sides of road driving to cabin. Broke down truck parked in road way. Cabin was filthy, yard was over grown and littered with discarded items. Cabin had not been deep cleaned in years. Owner was super nice, but obviously unable to maintain upkeep. Cabin skirting was lying on the ground, so any critter/ animal could come in. Light fixtures were covered with dust and cob webs. Mice were running from room to room. Basically expected a lot more from the pictures. Not what I expected for the amount paid. Sadly, will not be staying at this location, again.

Stayed Nov 15, 2024As a woman it’s scary to get to your VRBO rental and have 2 men come out saying they were renting it and staying there. I never got a phone number from the owner and ended up getting it from the guy who was already unpacking there. The door was unlocked as well according to those people. They called the owner and told them they were in the wrong cabin so they left, but i don’t know what they could have added or left in the place or if they even lied. Lots of dust everywhere and not clean in terms of dusting. The shower curtain had a lot of black mold on it. Very beautiful bedroom surrounded by windows and was amazing to wake up surrounded by nature and trees. The drive up was weird considering other people live around the area and leave their garbage out. I was just uncomfortable and uneasy and wish I had contact with the host. I even texted the number after our stay to let them know I started a load of towels in the laundry for them and got no response. Overall liked staying here, just not worth the price and felt a little unsafe.
