Fairplay, Colorado
Con Alma is just a mile and a half off of Highway 9 going to Breckenridge. This gorgeous 2 bedroom and 2.5 bath home is just 15 miles from Breckenridge and a short walk from the Platte River. The home has an intimate living area with a sofa sleeper, flat screen TV and a cozy wood stove. There is a rocker by the wood stove to warm up and relax in. The modern kitchen has granite countertops and stainless appliances with custom pine cabinetry. A gorgeous new balcony porch off the second main level is the perfect spot to look over the river, wildlife and mountains surrounding.
Upstairs the master bedroom has a king size bed and master bath with walk-in shower, jacuzzi tub, 2 sinks. The laundry is also on this floor with a stack-able full size washer and dryer. The walk-in closet is large enough to have someone sleep in there if they wish. There is a deck off of the master bedroom looking down the valley at the mountains and river. The second bedroom is on the main level, it has a queen size bottom and twin size top bunk beds. If you have your best friend with you, there is a dog door, into the enclosed yard from this room. The bathroom on this level has a walk-in shower to help relax after a day of hiking, skiing or fishing. The entrance has a bench to take off your outdoor clothes and shoes, with a 1/2 bath close to get in that emergency bathroom break.
Some of the day trips you can take from the home include going to the Victorian town of Breckenridge where you can ski and snowboard at the world class resort. They offer ice skating, snow tubing, an alpine slide, mountain biking, a gold coaster, lots of unique shops and great dining. The best white-water rafting in Colorado is found on the Arkansas River just 45 miles away. The cute ghost town of St. Elmo is very close too. You can visit and feed the chipmunks and watch the 100's of hummingbirds in the summer. This is a popular hiking and ATVing location. Many of the famous 14'ers surround the home and Fairplay where you can hike or climb to the top. The offer some of the most amazing trails in Colorado.
If you are interested in going to the Colorado Springs area, it is only 90 miles away. You can visit Garden of the Gods and Royal Gorge in one day trip. I recommend going to Florissant Fossil Beds in Florissant which is only about 60 miles away. If you like to fish, the Platte River is right by the home and offers Gold Medal Fishing. Montgomery Reservoir, Lake Jefferson, Antero Reservoir, Spinney, and Eleven Mile Lakes are also very close. It is also a hunting paradise if you have a license. Horseback riding is just 10 minutes from the home at the South Platte Ranch. They have awesome day trips and evening steak rides.
This home is accessible in every season as it is a short driveway and off of a main county road with easy access to Highway 9 in the winter months. Whatever your favorite activity is, you can be assured of a memorable and fun vacation whatever activity you choose!

This was the perfect, cozy cabin for a weekend getaway! It's the perfect balance between privacy in the mountains and not being too far from surrounding little towns! The views were unforgettable. The house was clean and roomy. We couldn't have asked for better weekend in CO!
Good base camp. We enjoyed hiking and exploring Alma, after a long hike it was nice to come back to a house to clean up and relax. It could use some little upgrades though, like a bench in the entryway to sit while taking/putting on shoes. Replacement of lightbulbs in various rooms, once the sun goes down the house is pretty dark. If you're going to cook make sure you bring your spices, oil, foil, etc. Like I said a good base camp with beautiful scenery.
Property was as listed. Would stay here again or recommend!
The house was very nice and up high in the mountains. We saw deer and it was close to towns for shopping or tails for walking. Also close to mountain passes to drive and see more wild life. Kitchen was equiped to cook if you don't want to eat out.
The kitchen had very few cooking utensils. It is not a place to stay if you plan to do much cooking. No biig spoons to stir any thing with. Also no tissue anywhere only toliet paper. The rocking chair in the living area was very rickety as well as one of the dining chairs. Other than that our stay was nice.
All good
Beautiful spot out in the mountains. Loved the views and layout of the cabin. Great yard and an awesome pet friendly spot. There's some clear wear and tear with items like extra bedding and the dishwasher that were a bummer, but overall would stay here again.
It was a very quiet and peaceful setting for the 4th of July, which is exactly what we had hoped for. Our dog enjoyed the deck and the fenced back yard.
Great location. Perfect size for our little family. Beautiful views!
House was clean ample fire wood! Absolutely loved that! Very nice area. We really enjoyed our stay. I recommend sticking to the main roads the mountain passes can be a bit sketchy in the winter. Have proper transportation
We loved the time that we spent at Con Alama. The house is located just outside of Alama. It’s a quick drive into town where we were able to visit the South Park Saloon and Almart for any quick needed items. The house is only 10 miles from Breckenridge which offers AMAZING views when driving over Hoosier Pass.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The dogs enjoyed the backyard and you are really close to breck. Will definitely be coming back.
Everything was super simple. The home was beautiful and in a great location.
Everything went well. However, we give it 4 stars because we did not like the bed in the master bedroom. But other than that, we are quite pleased with our vacation. Only 25 minutes from Breckenridge. In the other direction, about 15 minutes is Fairplay which has a grocery store and a Dollar General. 2 fishing spots less than 5 minutes from the house. Also hiking trailheads less than 20 minutes from the house. I caught my 1st. rainbow trout and we saw our 1st moose! Aspens were golden. Awesome scenery everywhere, including from the deck of the house. Having laundry machines was convenient. The fenced back yard was great for our small dogs.
Super nice and comfy home with amazing views. Loved everything about it!
This is our 3rd year to stay at this house in the beautiful valley near Alma, Colorado. We found everything clean and ready to enjoy our 4 weeks stay. Angela was there for our every need and help. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans as well as firewood for the fireplace. Our 2 dogs loved the doggie door so they could go outside in the fenced yard whenever they wanted. Great house and great location. See u next year.
Nice place, good accommodations. But does need several maintenance items dealt with.
The property is in an amazing location. The views are absolutely stunning. The overall property was fine. We had a few issues with the cleanliness of the property. Other than that, no complaints.
This home was amazing! The views were incredible and everything was so new and modern! We loved the fenced in backyard for our dog and the views from the balconies were incredible! I highly recommend and can't wait to visit again!
Absolutely adorable, clean, and quaint. The property manager was great at communication. Enjoyed our stay and would return. It is very comfortable, especially for two people, and the views are incredible. We found a very close, amazing little Italian restaurant, called Millonzis in Fairplay. All in all, would definitely recommend this adorable, clean, sweet cabin for a little getaway.
It won't let me select a rating, but I give our stay 5-stars! It was everything it claimed to be, and everyone really enjoyed their stay.
This is our second time at Con Alma. I can't say enough about the staff and the way they do everything to make your stay memorial. Loved the house and the location especially the back yard.
Truly enjoyed staying at the cottage. It was a very short distance to Brekenridge and Frisco!!! Stayed with my 2 teenagers and there was plenty of space. The home is even more beautiful in person than the website photos. Zero complaints, has everything you need for a perfect winter vacation, including a warm wood burning stove. Place looks brand new, is super clean, and has many amenities to make your stay enjoyable. Highly recommend, especially for the price and space. Great communication, easy and pleasant communication with Susan via email.
Thank you for a wonderful visit! We loved the location and the house had everything we needed. We hope to bring our nephew back in the Spring!
We have been coming to the area for years for all seasons. Every time the staff at SCSH have always been amazing with their communication and service. This trip will definitely stand out amongst the others because of Con Alma cabin. Perfect location at the bottom of hoosier pass (which is critical when it comes to time, you can spend 30 minutes going up and down the mountains off rt 9) makes it easily accessible and easier for those new to the altitude. While we have always looked for a place with hot tubs - Con Alma had two amenities that are now even more important to us - 1) Fenced in yard for the pups to play off the leash 2) a garage that made loading and unloading in the winter easy and warm. The house is very clean and the main living area is cozy for the family; accompanied by some of the most amazing views one could ever wish to experience. Be sure to say hi to the Fox that likes to visit in the mornings and evenings.
Excellent stay! We loved the valley and the house was very clean and welcoming. It was close to everywhere we wanted to be around Breckenridge yet had our own space. Awesome vacation!
