2nd year at this cottage, entire family loves the location. Disappointed some maintenance issues weren’t corrected in the year since our last stay. One eye on the stove doesn’t work, no ice maker and no ice trays, no lock on the master bedroom door. Rope swing out back needs to be replaced. We loved our stay, but wish some of this issues had been addressed.
This was such a cute cabin near the river. Decorated super cute and clean. Just enough space for our family 5. We truly enjoyed our time at the house. I feel that the listing stating ‘fishing, tubing and boating’ was a stretch. We were hoping for fishing in the river behind the cabin, but the river access was not ideal and during our stay the river was low, so no fish. We had a hard time finding fishing holes and we did go tubing but drove an hour to get to it.
Our family was coming to Virginia for a graduation open house, and we wanted a place for our family of 7 (kids & adults) to be together. This property suited us perfectly. My parents had the master bedroom, my sister had the second bedroom on the main floor, and my family of four spread out upstairs. It was great to have 2 bathrooms. We took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen, and made a few meals while there. We also loved the unique decor around the house. Our kids loved hanging out in the loft when wanting some down time. We found Virginia to be very buggy during our visit, but that might have helped my daughter be a little less scared of them. That was the only thing we didn't enjoy, but we know that can't be helped.
This house was great for our get together with our family. We were a group of six, grandparents, parents and a four and eight year old. The grandchildren loved the upstairs room as well as the backyard swing. We were able to use the fire pit one night to roast hot dogs and s'mores. The location is convenient to a grocery store (10-15 minutes). We were not there long enough to explore the area in depth, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back and stay there again for a longer time. The only disappointing part, and the reason for the 4 stars was that the refrigerator was broken. It would have been great to have that information before we arrived so that we would have purchased less perishables at the grocery store. A very small refrigerator was brought in for us to use, but we had to keep trading food in and out so as not to have anything spoil.
This cute cabin is comfortable and exactly as described. While you relax on the screened in back porch, you can hear the rolling river gently flowing down below. Nice getaway for families to enjoy the quiet slowed down lifestyle of the Shenandoah Valley.
This was such a cute cabin. We could tell how much thought was put into everything. The decorations and interior were so beautiful and we were all quite impressed. Our favorite part was sitting out back in the screened porch all day/night talking. Noah was a huge help to us and was quick to respond to all of my emails and text messages even though he was out of the country. Huge thank you to Noah!! Overall, this is the cutest house and we all enjoyed this weekend getaway here.
Amazing job revamping this cabin. Surprisingly spacious, great taste in decorating. We used every inch of this cabin and had a blast. The 2nd floor kids space was absolutely perfect. Maybe work to improve access to the river, but this place really delivered a great getaway.
This cabin is wonderful, even nicer than the pictures show. It has everything you need and a nice cozy living room with a fire place during the colder months. Will definitely be back!
Clean, cute place. We cooked and relaxed after days of hiking and exploring. It was a nice place to spend time.
No home rental is perfect, and there are always things about a rental you'd change if you could. But we cannot recommend this house due to the poor response by owner/management to a serious problem. We checked in on Friday. Although the house is advertised as including linens that night we discovered that each bed had a fitted bottom sheet, a comforter, and pillows with shams but nothing else. No top sheet, no blankets. Just a covered mattress and the comforter. Searched the house and found ONE top sheet, nothing else. We contacted Noah and although he responded quickly, he wasn't able to help. Said he was 2+ hours away and couldn't reach the local manager. He offers that I could go to Walmart and buy sheets, he'd reimburse me. But I wasn't looking to go out late at night on vacation to buy sheets! I could've brought my own if I'd known! So I asked him to let me know as soon as he heard from the local manager (presumably they actually have sheets and actual blankets for the house?). But I never heard back from Noah (or anyone else) again. We were there Friday-Monday without sheets, without blankets, and never heard from owner/management again. As I said we've had quibbles with houses we've rented but never anything quite like this. The house itself is nice, we liked the paint colors etc. The stove has a warning light that stays on and one burner doesn't work. The heat for the main part of the house can't quite keep up with the cold - didn't really bother us and the electric fireplace works well, but if you're cold-natured it might trouble you. Upstairs shower is nice, but poor water pressure downstairs. There are a few houses closer to the rental than you might like. But the view and sound of the river are nice, especially at night. In the end, mnagement being so unresponsive to a serious issue, particularly in light of other renters' similar complaints, means you should probably avoid this one.
