Avoid the crowds and enjoy the peace and quiet of rural West Virginia at our peaceful and private mountain retreat cabin. Close to hiking, kayaking, trout streams, and the Monongahela National Forest; just 8 miles to Snowshoe Resort in a calm and secluded setting. Walk down to the creek on your private hiking trail, relax around the fire pit, have a meal outside on the deck and enjoy the cool breeze - it’s all there for a perfect mountain getaway. Our main house is nearly half a mile away - you will enjoy total quiet and privacy. Note there are stairs to enter. Our garage is available for locked indoor mountain bike or ski equipment storage during your stay; $50 fee per stay and must be arranged in advance.

The space
Our cabin is fully private (there are no visible neighbors and our main house is 1/2 mile away on the property).

Guests enjoy the entire living area and raised deck (the first floor is a garage).

Guests enjoy a full kitchen (including dishwasher) stocked with coffee and coffee pods, cooking oil, salt & pepper, cooking utensils, BBQ utensils, and pots and pans. We also have kid safe plastic plates, bowls, cups, and silverware.

The kitchen includes both a Keurig (coffee pods included) and a drip coffee maker for your convenience. The living room has a 50” smart TV.

Guests also enjoy two private bed rooms and a loft area upstairs. Both bedrooms and the loft have hotel quality queen size beds (3 queen size beds total) with usb charger stations, bed and bathroom linens, hotel mattresses and pillows. One of the bedrooms has a smartTV.

The cabin and Pocahontas County are located in the National Radio Quiet Zone around the Green Bank Observatory and so there is no cell service. Most guests can connect to the FAST fiber optic Internet WiFi (not satellite) which is very reliable for calling over WiFi and texting.

Mountain and forest views from every window. The creek is just a short walk down the hill (and has water in it except when it is very hot and dry).

We had an amazing time! Perfect family getaway! Lovely, cozy cabin, located in a beautiful, QUIET mountain neighborhood. Exactly as described in the description and pictures online. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the cabin had everything we needed to be comfortable during our stay, including working fast Wifi! The location was great for travelling to the local Snowshoe ski resort or catching the shuttle. The host, Peter, was very personable, responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend, it was a great experience!!

When you step in this cabin, you immediately feel like you would want this for a home. It was spacious and we were a party of 6 adults. Very comfortably furnished, very clean and great supplies. Full kitchen with some dry goods, lots of dishes, silverware, cups, and even wine glasses and a drink shaker. Also 2 types of coffee makers. I know all of these are listed amenities but we were all still impressed. There were only 2 tiny complaints. Every door hinge was very squeaky so it was easy to wake light sleepers and the batteries in both tv remotes were not working. But the owner was great about communication and said he would take care of it. We were so busy, we didn't really have time for tv anyways. It is private, warm, and the property is beautiful. I highly recommend!

It was a peaceful oasis surrounded by nature. We loved how clean and modern this property was. Great communication from the host, and we enjoyed it tremendously. We played several of the board games too - nice touch. The mattress in the main bedroom was considerably firm (very, very hard). I would still stay again, but I recommend taking that into consideration if that's a priority.

Such a cute cabin, close to the road but feels like it's secluded in the woods. Went for a little Dad and daughters trip with my little dog and it was perfect for us. Cabin was very comfortable - had plenty of dishes to cook, beds were super comfortable, shower was nice and hot. The property is big and we were able to explore around the yard, have bonfires, and cook on the grill. Will definitely be coming back to stay next time I need a little getaway.

The cabin was ok, could use a few bigger skillets when you're cooking for 5 people. But all in all an enjoyable visit

Newer cabin in a wooded area with a stream nearby. Easy access to main road, but secluded away in nature. Short drive to Snowshoe and the owner plows the road and driveway as necessary with snow. Well furnished and comfortable touches throughout. Peter was quick to answer questions and good communication. A pleasant and peaceful escape and even saw a bald eagle near the cabin near main road. Thanks for a good stay Peter.

We had an excellent experience staying at Peter's cabin house. It had everything we needed and Peter was great to communicate with. High speed and reliable internet service which is not a given with the rural nature of the area. Would recommend!

The property is easy to find, close to Snowshoe Mtn and Cass Scenic Railroad. The cabin is really nice, secluded, and is both cozy and clean. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfy (with the best pillows I've ever had in a VRBO rental!) Host was friendly and communicated well.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The cabin is new and gorgeous, comfortable and rustic, clean and has dog treats! We spent a day exploring Snowshoe and a local park area. Try to leave where ever you are coming from in time to get there in daylight. AND, even if your GPS looks like it's working, do not follow it. We ended up in a creekbed in the pitch dark (LOL) Once you get there, it's very easy to come and go. We fell in love with the beauty of West Virginia and would love to stay here again for more than 2 days. NOTE: leave yourselves a little time to peruse mountain gazette 200, a publication on a table in the sitting area-one of the most interesting books I'd ever thumbed through.
