Paradise Found is brought to you by the creator of The Dog House and A River Runs Through It, which is located through the woods next door. This home has been lovingly remodeled to be the perfect couples retreat!

With the Watauga River just outside the home, you'll be continuously enveloped by the grounding drum of flowing waters. Please be advised that a long-term road widening project is currently underway nearby. As a result, construction activity may also be audible during your stay.

The Watauga River begins its 60 mile journey on the northern slopes of Grandfather Mountain and flows generally north and west into Watauga Lake on the North Carolina - Tennessee border. The word Watauga is derived from the Cherokee word Watagi meaning beautiful waters or whispering waters. This dynamic riparian zone is actually a migration corridor for many varieties of fish, birds and animals and plays a significant role in preserving biodiversity.

During good weather you can explore the river or try your luck at catching a variety of trout such as brook, brown or rainbow. This section of the Watauga River is now privately stocked and is exceptional for fly fishing! All fishing is single artificial lure, catch and release only. Live or scented baits are not permitted. Fly fishing guide services are available upon request. When it rains, the river rises and the kayakers come out to shoot the rapids.

A Paradise Found and A River Runs Through It are two log cabins that comprise a 2.75 acre complex with the Watauga River running through the center of the property. Both cabins were built of hand-hewn hemlock from Washington State and pine paneling from Watauga County. Access to the property is a tree-lined gravel road that was once a portion of the railroad bed of the Western North Carolina- East Tennessee Railroad.

The cathedral pine ceiling and skylights of Paradise Found create a spacious warm feeling as you walk in. The main level features oak floors, a wood burning fireplace, Bose entertainment system, HDTV with Roku streaming services and SlingTV for regular programming, a well equipped kitchen with both a Keurig and regular coffee maker, and spectacular views of the river. You will also find the large master bedroom with a hand-hewn hemlock beam ceiling, king size bed, flat screen TV and full bath. This cabin is accessorized with fine original art, antiques and old photographs.

Walk onto the screened-in porch and experience hundreds of feet of waterfalls, boulders and pools. Enjoy unique riverfront dining at the granite table with four chairs or relax at the sitting area or in the Hot Springs hot tub. The porch opens onto a large deck with expansive river views, a picnic table and gas grill.

Both cabins are conveniently located near the main artery that connects the ski slopes of Avery County with the exceptional antique shops of Foscoe with the rich history of Valle Crucis with the great dining and entertainment of Boone and Blowing Rock. Several whitewater and fishing guide services are also located nearby.

Guests returning to Paradise Found may have a 10% discount, not to be combined with other discounts to the rent.

This cabin was perfect for my husband and me for a 5 night getaway. It’s very comfortable and now one of our favorite rental properties. We plan to book this unit again when it’s warmer so we can use the rocking chairs on the screen porch.

WE loved our stay at Paradise found. The place was as described and we really enjoyed the screened in patio over the beautiful creek. You can see the busy road on the other bank but we were made aware of this ahead of time and it didn't affect our stay at all. The host was responsive and helpful. Would stay again and highly recommend. the location was fantastic being close enough to town for meal delivery services yet still felt very private and secluded.

Nice property sitting next to a beautiful creek. Cabin had a screened in porch that was reaaly nice to sit on and looked directly over the creek. The inside was a mix of rustic and traditional. It was the perfect space for two people. The cabin did not get a lot of natural light so it was dark inside and the inside lighting wasn't real bright. The road was private so there was little to no cars but it was also right near the main road so there was a lot of traffic noise. All in all it was a good location for us and we enjoyed our stay.

Great weekend to getaway from Raleigh heat and bustle. Cabin feels remote but only minutes from plenty of eateries and activities. View and access to river was awesome. Enjoyed lazy hangs with dogs on screen porch overlooking river. Clean, modern, easy check-in and out. Nice big bathroom and comfy leather sofas. Highly recommend for cozy stay.

Beautiful, modern cabin just minutes from all conveniences, yet very private on a dead-end gravel road. Comfortable furnishings and super-clean. The rushing sounds of the Wautauga river cascades *almost* hid the noise from busy Hwy 105 across the river. Sitting on the screened porch surrounded by blooming rhododendron was a treat in July.

Two seniors and a small dog. Very peaceful. There is a road on the other side of the river. That wouldn't be visible in the summer when the trees are fully leafed out. Upscale appliances and decor. Very comfortable.

The property was great for a little weekend getaway. Its less than 10 minutes away from Boone. It has a screened in porch with a hot tub and a wonderful view of the river. Its a very private neighborhood wih a one lane gravel drive in. The house is clean and spacious for two people. All in all it was a great stay for us and the dog!

We really loved the location and the place itself. Our only issue was that we couldn't seem to get away from the dog fur. It was on the clean towels, on the bathroom counter, end tables, and even ended up in our food.

We had a lovely visit at Paradise Found! It was a great location, private but near great amenities. The river was a wonderful back drop to our weekend and the pups had a great time. The interior of the cabin is beautiful exposed wood and rustic cabin touches! The updates are impressive and include a modern kitchen and updated bathrooms. The fireplace is cozy and the back porch is a great place to sit and relax! We will definitely be back as time allows! Every season would bring something new to enjoy!

From the time we made our reservation until the day we checked out, everything was made simple by constant correspondence via email on everything that we needed to do.The house was exactly the way it looked in pictures and in many ways even better. The kitchen had all stainless appliances with brand new dishes. The master bedroom and bath were fully equipped with a Jacuzzi tub, tile shower and even a brand new stackable washer dryer. There was a hot tub on the screen porch set up and ready to go with a view of a flowing river to watch and listen to as you enjoyed the hot tub. This cabin was perfect for a couple and was very convenient to Boone and Blowing Rock.We were blessed with snow from the time we arrived until the time we left, we will definitely go back!

Enjoyed our stay secluded and close to lots of shops/restaurants. Would have liked the hot tub to be bigger and have jets on both sides. It was nice to have a washer dryer so I didn’t have to go home to wash a bunch of dirty laundry. Thanks for a great weekend.
