Atlantic Mine, Michigan
Sitting on the property of Northwinds Adventures, a year round camp, the “Brook Trout" cabin features 2 bedrooms; one with a Queen bed (linens provided) and another with a twin bed and twin bunk bed (3 twins total)(sheets provided upon request for a $10 fee). For additional sleeping space, there is a large leather couch and double futon in the living room or space for a cot. Pack and Play available upon request - $20. Harwood floors throughout cabin, bathroom is tiled with a standup shower. A wood burning stove is available to take the chill off in the cooler seasons, firewood provided for $5/bundle. The kitchen is full with everything you need to prepare a great meal after a day outdoors.
The cabin is tucked in a grove of aspens about 100 yards from our very own Love Lake. There is a deck for lounging and a fire pit in the yard. There is also a charcoal grill; but the charcoal is not provided.
Feel free to walk the trails around our 220 acres, paddle a canoe or kayak in our lake, or spend time on our private beach.
Love Lake is a 10 acre, spring fed private lake and there are plenty of opportunities to fish from shore. To protect our population of native brook trout and walleyes we ask that you use only barbless, artificial lures and gently release all of our finned friends back into the lake to fight another day!
If you are coming up to ATV or snowmobile, we ask that you DO NOT ride machines on the property. You can however ride them directly from the property to the trail, a short, legal ride on the roads to the Bill Nichols trail located about 5 miles away.
We enjoy the beautiful nature and the modern/rustic feel
Beautiful! This property sits on a private lake. It is very well maintained with a well stocked kitchen. Looking forward to staying again.
Cozy cabin. Well outfitted and comfortable stay.
This is the second time we have stayed at Northwinds. It is such an excellent location. Perfect for families who need a place to gather. We cooked all our meals in and had plenty of room to invite a few of our sons Tech friends to join us for dinner. The boys took a polar plunge in the lake, and our youngest enjoyed hiking in the woods and enjoying nature. The cabin felt like our own little home away from home. We will be back.
What a great location to tour the Keweenaw and surrounding areas. A great base camp
Cabin was a great size for our family of 5. Lots of things do do at the property (paddle boarding, kayaking, horseshoes, etc) and great location for touring the Keweenaw Peninsula.
We loved our three week visit to the cabin! It was perfect! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well stocked! The location was perfect for us with the private beach and lake. We loved having the opportunity to hike, kayak, and just enjoy nature! We were close enough to Houghton to eat out and shop. Michelle and Carl were amazing hosts! They were quick to respond to all of our needs! They are lovely people with a wonderful place to stay. We plan to go back....hopefully, soon!!
Place was beautiful. Very clean. We enjoyed some sightseeing and relaxing at the cabin. Had several camp fires. Owners very responsive.
We spent a week at the Brook Trout cabin and had a wonderful time exploring the Keweenaw. The Cabin is beautiful. The beds and couches are comfy with plenty of space to move around. The kitchen is very large and well stocked with cooking utensils. The location is great and there’s a small lake! What more do you need? Highly recommend.
Beautiful cabin on beautiful property. This was such a peaceful and relaxing stay. Everything was just as pictured and great location to travel from the Porcupine Mountains to the tip of Copper Harbor. Great proximity to Houghton-Hancock too. Michelle was great at communicating. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed for our 10 day stay. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!!
Clean, would’ve preferred a larger bed. Mattress was pretty good!
This was our third time staying at the cabin all in the winter time. The cabin is perfect for the 2 of us. It has a wood stove that is great to sit by drinking wine after a day of XC skiing or taking a walk enjoying the winter beauty of Lake Superior (dress warmly). We have stayed at many different places in the UP with friends and this is the one we like best.
Great place to stay!
Clean, cozy, had everything we needed for a great weekend! Close to MTU too!
I have rented this property in the past and have always been happy with it. With visiting the area this week for work, it was more cost effective to rent the cabin to two people that it was to stay in a hotel.
The property was very nice comfortable and yes it had the internet which was a pleasant surprise a nice lake would stay again
We enjoyed our stay on this property. It’s a great place for families. Swimming and fishing Lake, basketball court, kayaks, paddle boards, very nice cabins, fire pit and much more. Quiet area and overall just a great place to stay. The owners are attentive and quick to respond. We will certainly stay here again.
The cabin was exactly as listed. It was very cozy and met our needs with an open kitchen/living room. We totally enjoyed our stay.
This was a great location to be near MTU. Very clean
Great experience
This cabin had all the comforts of home, it was peaceful and super clean. We would definitely go back again. Would have liked to know their were hiking trails available on the property.
Clean, relaxing cabin in the woods
Very clean. Quiet. Beautiful cabin on a lovely camping property. My only negative is that we had to bring our own sheets for the beds or pay $10 per bed.
Went to UP for a family gathering and this cabin was great. Close enough to Houghton yet far enough out to feel away from everything.
This place was just what we were looking for! Just far enough away from town in such a beautiful area. My daughters enjoyed the lake and the paddle boards/kayaks they had available. Vey clean and well taken care of. Can’t wait to come back!
I would recommend these cabins to anyone. Very clean and had more space than I thought. Beautiful setting too.
We absolutely love these cabins. We have stayed here numerous times while visiting our son at Michigan Tech. The cabin is always very clean and cozy. The property and wildlife are amazing. And the cabin is not far from anything in the Keweenaw you'd want to see and do. LOVE IT!
