Stayed Aug 3, 2025Owner was very responsive and communicative. There is a busy highway across the way so bring ear plugs for morning traffic. There were no screens on windows/doors so we could open them for fresh air because the bugs flew in. As a whole the house needs some TLC. The game room was swept, but dirt was swept under the air hockey table (which didn't have enough air flow to play) and not vacuumed. Water out of tub upstairs was light rust colored every time we turned it on. Cheese grater/zester had so much rust we were unable to use it.

Stayed Jun 21, 2025We enjoyed our week on the river! It was wonderful to catch trout right outside the door. Exactly what we were hoping for! Small town, but a lot that is close. We enjoyed fishing, river rafting, hiking to see waterfalls,Gem mining, and found a lot of good little places to eat. Would definitely recommend for the family that likes to fish and the ones just looking for a reset away from home. I only reached out to the owner once and his response time was remarkable. The layout for the home would even be great for two families. The downstairs is a home of its own. The fire pit is wonderful (there is so much I could have done in just that spot, especially in the fall) - plenty of yard space if you have a dog, game room & hot tub were great entertainment for the kids.

Stayed Apr 10, 2025We wanted a place close enough to WCU without being too close, and the hassle of being to far up the mountain and miles of gravel roads. Easy access right off the main road and short drive down a very well maintained gravel road. Plenty of room for everybody, great hot tub, and right in the river. Awesome Host!! Great communication and covered all the basis (wifi, tv operations, door codes, hot tub operations, etc….) on the first contact, when we rented, and on a follow up email the day of check-in. Every little detail was covered and made a huge difference because we got there later than expected, in the pouring rain and easily got everything unpacked and got the house up and running quickly.

Stayed Jan 23, 2025We were all (5 this time) students at WCU in 1977-1981 and wanted to get together and visit the campus and surrounding area. Some of us hadn’t seen each other in 30 years. The River’s Edge was a great place for us. It was very nice and clean as well as close to the campus and the Sylva area. A great place for relaxing on the Tuckasegee!

Stayed Aug 14, 2024Our stay at this home was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning views – the pictures simply don’t do it justice! Every morning felt like waking up in a dream, surrounded by natural beauty. The home itself has a special charm, cozy and inviting, and it’s clear that the owners put so much thought into every detail. The hosts were incredible – warm, responsive, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They truly made us feel at home, and it’s clear they care deeply about providing an exceptional experience for their guests. This little slice of paradise left us relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable getaway! Side-note: they even had emergency supplies of power went out, which we have experienced in the past with other vacation rentals, and literally sat there with our cell phones in the dark so nice to know they’re prepared for everything!

Stayed Jul 2, 2024The view was beautiful, but the house needed some serious TLC. The hot tub was clear the first day but by the 3rd day it turned a rusty orange, owner sent cleaning person out to drain and reclean. I think there’s a problem with the water lines, it’s a beautiful house in a beautiful location, I think they just need to hire cleaning people that know how to do a deep clean. The property managers or owners did try to get someone out to reclean it but being a holiday week it was hard. They also did do their best to make us happy and did refund a portion of our stay, for the hassle. Hopefully they can find better cleaning people in the future, because it is a great place to stay especially with a large group of people. We had 8 plus a dog and baby and plenty of room to spread out. With a little cleaning and TLC this place would be a perfect getaway retreat.
