Curtis, Michigan
Located on South Manistique Lake near Curtis, Mi. a small unique waterfront village, with friendly people, beautiful sunsets we are on the east side of the lake we have beautiful views of sunsets over looking the lake, 4 seasons of fun for the whole family. Spring ,Summer, Winter, Fall.
Sue proved to be a fantastic host. Waterfront!-just steps outside the cabin: sunset viewing from our campfire/sandy and warm lake. Sue taught me how to make stone planters and even gifted me one to complete at home. Private, clean, TV, soft shower water, flower gardens, pet friendly, smack on the water! Central location for day trip exploring. Highly recommend.
The property was very clean. There were a few minor things that could use repaired the bathroom door as other reviews have mentioned the sliding screen door and there was no light in the refrigerator but overall things were very very good and Sue was a great hostess we would definitely recommend this place to our friends.
Old school peaceful
My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our getaway at Sue’s. Such a cute cottage; just right for the two of us. Beautiful setting and centrally located for sightseeing.
Great place, small and comfortable but the bed needs to be replaced
Beautiful setting, many things to do and see
very nice, clean, comfortable bed would highly recommend this place i is awesome
We went up to the top of the lake snowmobile museum for a show. This was a great place to stay
Very clean but yet rustic. Owner very nice and great communication. Beautiful views!
Nice and cozy. Basic amenities. Great lake view and quiet neighborhood. Easy to find.
The location of this property was great. We love this area, and the lakefront was a perk here, but our stay wasn’t as expected. It wasn’t as private as we thought it would be, with neighbors just a few steps away. The kitchen is somewhat stocked, but didn’t have all the tools you’d need if you plan to cook there. We ended up leaving a night early due to allergies and the mattress being extremely uncomfortable with springs in your back.
There were a few things that needed attention: 1. The bathroom door did not close completely. 2. The bathroom door had a handle but not latching mechanism. 3. One light bulb missing over the bathroom sink. 4. The light over the kitchen sink was inoperable.
Nice quiet location with no cell phone reception, but was able to enjoy nature. The bed could have been a little more comfortable.
Beautiful little cabin right on the lake, amazing views. Sue was very easy to deal with, answered all my questions before arriving and at check in. Centrally located for day tripping. Great getaway.
This beautiful cabin is on a beautiful lake. It has all you need. We enjoy our wonderful trip so much. The Lake is Crystal clean and the gorgeous sunset doesn't say enough. It is very private, We caught so many fish off the new private dock. Kathy was the best host. We highly recommed . 5 stars
Quiet and well located. Spacious grounds and friendly host. Dock was a great place to keep our boat and the dog loved everything about the place.
Sue is wonderful and fun! This was our first vaca since early 2019 and it didn't disappoint. The cabin is perfect for a couple and maybe one child. The lake is right out the front door and is a beautiful lake that does not have a ton of activity, which made it really relaxing for us. We took our own boat, there was ample room for parking and the boat trailer. Sue has a dock, which we tied up to. Neighbors were great on both sides - not too close so it felt private enough. The cabin was very clean and set up comfortably. Take your own outdoor chairs and small grill. If you plan on cooking you will need the basics (butter, mustard, etc). There are pots and pans on site. The town has plenty of bars and restaurants, otherwise. Would highly recommend and we plan on returning next summer! Thank you, Sue!
The cottage was very cozy and clean inside and has a beautiful view of the lake. The full-width roomy front porch is accessed through a large glass front door with large sliding windows on either side. So that gives you a wide view of the lake inside and out. The lake is a large, quiet, sandy bottom lake that is shallow for a good 25' out. Really nice for wading or floating under the sun. Letting in the refreshing lake air was a bit of a challenge as the sliding screen door had been broken by a previous renter but at least the side windows did the job as well. Sue had supplied fire wood enough for our first few nights which was nice but if you need more, there is a local that sells three bundles worth of wood for $10 just south on Manisitques Lake Road. At the time we rented the bathroom door did not close all the way which is manageable but should be fixed. It gets annoying over the course of the week. The town Curtis has most everything you might need, from a few souvenir shops, marinas, and a full-service Ace Hardware. The Village Market has locally farmed meat and fish which was terrific on the grill. Skip the Shipwreck bar/restaurant. It's on the lake but the food is poor bar food quality. The cottage didn't come with a grill which I found disappointing. Sue had offered for us to use her grill but that 'd be kinda awkward so I purchased a small Weber charcoal grill from the local Ace. The cottage is in the perfect location for those wanting to explore the U.P. as it is only an hour away from amazing nature adventures and cool little towns. Pictured Rocks park and boat tours, Tahquamenon Falls, Twelve Mile Beach on lake Superior, The Soo Lock in Sault Ste. Marie, St. Ignace by the Mackinaw Bridge, and more destinations are all only a short drive away. For instance, it was awesome to spend a day watching ships move in and out of the locks, shop the town then return to the cottage, spark up a fire and watch the sunset. Perfect!
