We invite you to enjoy the inspiring space of our modest, two bedroom mountain cabin nestled in the Rocky Mountains. The cabin is a short scenic drive west of Boulder, Colorado and only two miles from the quaint and colorful mountain town of Nederland, CO. Built in the early 1900's, our house was the baggage depot which serviced the historic, Switzerland Trail Railroad. The cabin sits at approximately 8600 ft., is south facing, adorned with a lot of glass, great natural light and is passive solar. It is located off a county dirt road, providing easy winter access, situated in a lovely riparian valley, surrounded by Boulder County Open Space and the Roosevelt National Forest.

We remolded this historic cabin in the late 1990's, but not without first falling in love with the wonderful character and imperfections of this turn of the century structure. We purposely kept what we could, like the original hardwood floor, and took great care to salvage and recycle as much of the original, weathered materials, and then integrated them back into our home. Though 100 years old, our cabin offers the comfort of all the modern amenities, while preserving it's rustic charm in a uniquely, eclectic style. Reclaimed, hand hewn timbers accent the the cabin exterior, the master bedroom, and the one of a kind, rustic, hand poured bathroom. Hammered metal details and homemade doors add a wonderful, hand made touch throughout. Furnishings and decorations artistically blend textures from around the globe, as well as from local artisans, all of which enhance the uniqueness of your stay.

Our cabin is the ideal location for a romantic getaway, as well as a wonderful place to escape the summer heat or the hustle and bustle of the city. Relax and rejuvenate in the magic of our home and the clean Rocky Mountain air. Sit on your front porch while drinking your morning coffee. Soak in the sunshine viewing the native mountain wildflowers and listen to the melodic flowing stream along with the chirping chorus of the ubiquitous hummingbird and the song of the native mountain birds.

For the history buff, the valley in which our cabin sits, is steeped in mining history Our cabin specifically, is the gateway house before entering the New Cardinal historic mill site, which in its heyday, was one of the largest gold mines in the area. Across the road is a cute, well maintained cabin, that was the New Cardinal brothel, in the early 1900's. The remnants of the Switzerland Trail Railroad is only steps from your door, This, historic railroad grade offers a network of hiking, mountain biking and in the winter, cross country skiing trails right out your door. The extensive Nederland mountain biking trail systems are also accessed from your doorstep. Be at the Eldora Ski Resort, which offers downhill skiing, snowboarding and nordic skiing in only 10 minutes.

For the outdoor enthusiast, not only is there hiking, mountain bike riding and cross country skiing out your door, but just a few miles away in Boulder Canyon there is rock climbing, swimming, kayaking and fly fishing. The high alpine peaks of the Indian Peak Wilderness Area are easily accessed and only a short distance away. If you prefer a scenic mountain drive, or a spectacular road bike ride, the Peak to Peak Highway is two miles from our cabin, taking you to Rocky Mountain National Park to the north, or to the casinos of Black Hawk, and Central City to the south. The progressive town of Boulder itself is 17 miles down the canyon road, and offers a large variety of shopping, restaurants and the famous Pearl Street Mall.

The cabin is one of the most unique places we’ve stayed. The space is filled with art, primitive antiques and many designer touches. Loved the vibe! The location was perfect for the activities we had planned. We were too busy to cook meals but the kitchen is well appointed.

This cabin is a historical gam, tastefully restored and in a really pretty spot. We found the hiking farther up Caribou Road to be some of our favorite in Colorado as it is easy to get to big.views. We will return!

Great cabin in the woods. The hummingbird feeder was an added bonus for my family. The road gets busy with work trucks. The bathroom door with windows was a nice design touch but would have been awkward if I wasn’t staying with my family.

Comfortable beds; unusual and interesting décor; friendly and helpful owners; fully equipped kitchen. Sitting under the aspens was lovely. But there's no place to walk a dog near the house other than the steep road, and the shower head should be replaced.

My wife and I took our first trip together as empty nesters after 30 years with children. Roxanne's home was the perfect location to access the Indian Peaks Wilderness area and the wonderful hikes. The home was comfortable and cozy for the two of us. We did not use the second floor at all. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing our meals. The only interruption turned out to be a real blessing as we were able to meet Roxanne and Lyle and that turned out to be a history lesson on the area mines along with a lead for a beautiful remote hiking area just up the road. Highly recommend this property! The hosts are wonderful!

This is a beautiful, cozy place to stay if you want to get away into the mountains but be close to a small town and not too far from Boulder. The cabin is exactly like the pictures; the decor is fabulous and the view from every window is trees and mountains. One of our favorite bonuses was the hummingbirds! We stayed at the end of May, and it was nonstop hummingbirds at the feeder. Lots of great memories and we would definitely stay here again.

I can’t say enough about this incredible cabin stay in Eldora, Colorado—it was pure magic from start to finish! Nestled high in the mountains, this one-of-a-kind unique cabin offered the perfect mix of rustic charm and thoughtful comfort. The views alone were worth the trip—towering pines, snow-dusted peaks, and absolute serenity in every direction. The cabin itself felt like something out of a storybook: warm wood interiors, cozy nooks, a crackling wood burning stove and little artistic touches throughout that made it feel so special and personal. It was obvious that a lot of love went into creating this space. Roxanne is also the most amazing host. Thoughtful and with ease of communication.Mornings with coffee on the deck, afternoons exploring nearby trails and the quaint town of Nederland, and evenings under the stars. The peace and quiet were soul-soothing, and yet the cabin still had great amenities (a well-stocked kitchen, reliable Wi-Fi, super comfy bed).Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a solo retreat, or a basecamp for mountain or ski adventures, this cabin is it. Roxanne owns another cabin in Eldora that is equally amazing if you need one extra bedroom. Can’t wait to come back—Eldora has officially stolen my heart!

Our family had such a wonderful time staying at this cabin. It was quiet, clean and absolutely beautiful. Just far enough off the beaten path to have solitude, but not far at all from town. The host was incredibly responsive when we had an issue with the furnace and handled it right away, always checking in to make sure we were taken care of. They really went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I would absolutely recommend this cabin to anybody looking for mountain views and a peaceful, comfy cabin.

Beautiful - Beautiful - Beautiful - very well equipped cabin and stocked kitchen with everything you will need and more! My family and I felt very relaxed and at home with comfortable beds and sitting areas throughout the cabin. This was my 4th VRBO stay in Nederland and definitely the best. We love the town, breweries, winter hikes and skiing at Eldora. Would highly recommend a stay here if that sounds like your cup of tea and you know how to operate a cozy wood burning fireplace (very easy).

This is cute little cabin outside of Nederland. Lots of character. A bit of a steep staircase up to the second bedroom, but my 4 and 6 yr kids didn't have a problem with it. A few miles down a dirt road, so might want AWD/4WD in winter. Would stay again.

Incredible place to stay, everything is special and you’re really able to feel secluded in nature. Roxanne is a wonderful host and you can feel the level of thoughtfulness she and her husband put into everything on the property. The beds were a little firm for my liking, but that’s just my personal preference. I would happily recommend this charming place to anyone looking for a relaxed mountain getaway.
