Talladega, Alabama
Need a place to unwind and relax No other houses are in sight of the Waldo cabin. You can take a relaxing few days away from the crowds and worries of our current world situations. Spend some time in the country for a few days and reconnect with family, friends and nature!
Triple Creek Farm is on the banks of Talladega Creek overlooking the historic Waldo Covered Bridge and old grist mill. Gold used to be mined in the local area and many modern day prospectors come from far and wide to pan Talladega Creek for gold. The farm is 20 acres of oaks, dogwoods, pines and wildflowers surrounded by the Talladega National Forest, with no neighbors in sight! It is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians at the base of Cheaha Mountain.
You may want to spend your days fishing or tubing the creek or exploring the incredible spring display of wildflowers such as trillium, wild geranium and red buckeye. Perhaps you would enjoy mountain biking the miles of Talladega National Forest roads or the Chief Ladiga Rail Trial near by. Love hiking and backpacking, the Pinhoti Trail, the longest trail in Alabama, is just 2 miles away. Maybe you are a road biker and want to climb from Waldo up to the highest point in Alabama, Mt Cheaha. You can ride your bike out of the Triple Creek Farm drive way and do this.
Just a few miles away is Majestic Caverns Park, where you can explore a deep underground cave, and spend the day enjoying their many family fun activities.
Waldo is just outside the Talladega city limits. Talladega is home to the historic Ritz Theater and the annual April in Talladega pilgrimage of homes. So much fun to choose from... but, perhaps you just look forward to relaxing on the big front screened porch watching birds at the feeder and the lazy creek roll by.
Then, of course, if you are a Nascar fan... Waldo is just down the road (about 20 miles) from the Talladega Superspeedway! Planning to come to Dega to drive a race car on the fastest track in all the land After a fast paced day of racing, come stay in the country and relax!
There is a full kitchen, but if you'd rather not cook, hop in the car and run to Talladega, 6 miles or Oxford, 20 miles, for a selections of restaurants, shops and movie theaters.
Feel free to contact Maggie for more information. She spent over 20 years exploring the mountains on foot, by bike and on horseback! You will find maps of the area and lots of information on things to do, when you arrive at the cabin.

Very peaceful and away from everyone
Can't say enough good things about our family's Christmas in this magical place. The cabin location is perfect for privacy and we enjoyed hiking the trails and fishing the creek. Maggie is such a great host and offers a little piece of heaven for people to enjoy. The cabin is well stocked with anything you need to have a great trip. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to enjoy nature in a very serene setting. Thank you Maggie for allowing our family to make unforgettable memories together. We look forward to staying here again!! Steve, Pat, Brittany, Coleman, Linzi, Marleigh, Highland, Brigham.....Virginia
From coffee in the trees from the screened porch to the walk fown the solid corridor of green to the creek everything was magical. All creature comforts met if you want to unplug and enjoy nature.
This is our second stay here, we love it! It’s so quiet and easy to unplug from our electronics and enjoy the peace and quiet. The creek is great and the kids enjoyed playing and exploring in it. It’s great that they provide everything! Games, movies, fire pit, grill, pictures of what you’ll see around the area and so much more! There is a train that goes past that may turn some people off but ear plugs and noise machines are provided in all the bedrooms so we were not bothered by them. Again love this place and the owners are super nice as well and reached out several times! We will definitely be back!
Getting away from everything. A lovely place in the deep Alabama woods. You are virtually invisible to everyone. Pick up everything you need at Wal-Mart in Talladega and enjoy your week of serenity. The screened porch is a great place to listen to the sounds of nature. We had the best week with our grown sons (53 & 47). And Maggie is a wonderful host.
We love this special cabin and will be back!
Amazing all around! Thank you!
Tucked in to the woods, secluded location. Well furnished interior and exterior. Enjoyed sitting in screened in porch, drinking coffee and listening to the birds. Make sure to follow path at end of driveway down to the creek/river. Very relaxing.
Always been an easy process with Vrbo, We will recommend to friends and family!
This is our 4th stay here to attend events in Talladega. The house is comfortable, secluded, convenient to town, and homey. Maggie is super responsive and helpful. Just be aware that the house itself needs repairs and maintenance, hence the “rustic” description. Furnace was out (middle of October) so Maggie got us space heaters. We survived! I like having a full kitchen and laundry, BBQ grill, screened porch, privacy. It was a nice stay.
My sisters and I had a great visit to the Talledaga/Waldo area. Cute house on really nice property. Fall colors were bursting. Waded in the creek. Read in the screened in porch. Put a puzzle together. Went for a nice hike close by. Maggie was very attentive and replied back quickly whenever we had a question. We would recommend her house to others.
really could have used wifi
Very peaceful and relaxing, comfortable beds well stocked kitchen. Seen turkeys on the property.
My hound dog and I really enjoyed our stay. This is easily one of the most well-stocked rentals we’ve ever stayed in. You name it, they have it! Maggie is a very sweet and gracious hostess. The porch was where we spent every morning and evening, like being in a tree house! Pro-tip for light sleepers, grab the front bedroom with the desk. The trains are a bit quieter in that room. Also, if you are a really light sleeper, the trains are loud. But it’s not unmanageable. Maggie has gone to great lengths to provide everything you need for a restful night. I see why everyone loves this place, we’ll be staying with Maggie & Co again in the future!
We loved staying at Triple Creek Farm. In a world with zoom and WhatsApp it was great to disconnect. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook a hardy breakfast. My favorite spot was on the screened in porch. If you have to do work, the large desk in the second bedroom is perfect. We didn’t use the bunk room, but I’m sure kids would love it. Thanks for letting us stay!
My husband and I both work in IT and were so excited to find a perfect getaway without any Wi-Fi! It was the perfect getaway our little family needed. We read books, watched old movies, explored and fished in the stream... It was just a gorgeous place to be and escape from the world. The home was so well equipped with everything you could need & with Talladega only about 10 minutes away, we wanted for nothing. We fished & hunted for fossils in the creek, but couldn't do it without really good water shoes & balance. Those rocks are super slippery & we had a couple of falls, but enjoyed so much. We couldn't get down to the deeper part of the creek by the bridge because it was overgrown, but seeing the bridge and learning about the history there was super cool for my kids. We definitely cannot wait to visit again. Maggie was just a gem and we're so thankful for finding her & the beautiful home here!
Lots of history and outdoor activities to keep families busy
The cottage had everything we needed. It was a great place to disconnect. The screened in porch was wonderful and it only took a short time to get used to the trains that came by occasionally. We enjoyed the great hiking in the National Forest, which was the main reason we came to the area. All in all, a very relaxing time.
Everything was coach and ready just as promised. Maggie was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to ensure we arrived safely and provided various directions for what we were in town for. Highly recommend!
We had a great time here! Maggie is the best. She goes above and beyond to accommodate your needs. We hiked High Falls, Mount Cheaha, and toured Desoto State parks cave while here for an extended weekend. All were within a 30 minute drive. Just a great location, and the property is an adventure in itself.
This property is nestled in a great place in the Talladega National Forrest and is convenient to any activity that you can do in the Talladega National Forrest. I would highly suggest anyone that wants to experience whatever the Talladega National Forrest has to offer to know that staying here is a good choice.
This cabin isn't very far outside Birmingham. It makes for a great escape without a ton of travel. Owner was great to work with also! Our family really enjoyed unplugging for a couple of days and enjoying the scenery. If you're looking for a place to light a fire and turn on some music then this is the place for you. Would definitely stay here again!
